GOOD EATS: IN SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO (SPICY) EP 82

Bring your appetite Santa Fe because this town knows how to cook! We extended our stay due to all the things to do and see and still only scratched the surface. We ended up staying a Los Suenos RV Park to regroup from dry camping at the Balloon Fiesta. Trish didn’t do much grocery shopping because she knew Santa Fe was a foodie town. We hit a couple of the local favorites and a couple touristy places too, but the food was good everywhere we ate! Below are links to all the restaurants. Santa Fe is a charming town with lots of art, friendly people and dogs. When you’re RVing through the Southwest, it’s worth stopping!

Big thanks to Matt with Blue Mantle Media for providing the drone footage for this episode. Check out his channel for awesome drone footage all around the world.

Ten Thousand Waves: A Japanese Spa in Santa Fe

Experience sake and the spa at Ten Thousand Waves, a Santa Fe spa inspired by Japanese mountain hot spring resorts. Like travel videos? Subscribe to this YouTube Channel

Modeled after a traditional Japanese onsen, natural hot springs bathing houses, Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe offers Japanese Shiatsu massages, hot tubs for soaking and even rooms for guests to stay for the night, but this Asian inspired spa is not located in Japan. It’s just outside of downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico and alongside the Santa Fe National Forest.

Not only can you enjoy a great spa experience here, but you can also enjoy great food and sake at their onsite restaurant, Izanami. They have an extensive sake menu and indoor and outdoor dining overlooking serene rolling forests.

Santa Fe Cuisine

Santa Fe is famous for its red and green chile, but that’s just the beginning. The local fare draws influences from the different people and cultures who have called Santa Fe home over the last 400 years. Today, our chefs are building international reputations for their traditional dishes and well as their innovative farm-to-table creations. And you won’t believe the thriving local beer, wine and spirit scene.

Dining At The #1 Steakhouse in New Mexico, The Bull Ring, Santa Fe, NM.

When The Bull Ring of Santa Fe won the first of its many Golden Bowl Awards (An award begun in 2000 by The Santa Fe New Mexican daily newspaper) for the “best steak In Santa Fe” it marked one more step in a journey that restaurant owner Harry Georgeades began in 1995.
For almost four decades previously, The Bull Ring had built its reputation as the most popular dining and gathering spot for state and local political figures; as the place where conversations of business, art, local events, politics, sporting news, or the “theme-of-the-day” are equally at home. But, it really didn’t have an identity as a restaurant.
Nestled in a 150 year old adobe compound, The Bull Ring was located right next door to the state Capitol and relied heavily in its location and clientele to ensure its place in the highly competitive Santa Fe dining scene.
In 1995, Georgeades changed all that.
First, he decided to move. More importantly, the eclectic menu that had been the staple of the lunch and dinner menus for so long was going to change. The new Bull Ring was going to be about … beef. USDA prime. Corn fed. Hand cut daily. The best available anywhere. Beef.

Santa Fe's Famous Chicken Enchiladas at The Shed | ThisLoveIsTakingOff Ep. 5

The Shed is a must-visit when exploring the classic cultural feel of the capital of New Mexico, Santa Fe. This flavorful restaurant has been feeding the mouths of visitors since 1953… Almost 70 years! They go back so far that they still have the “low door” entrance, which would force visitors off of their horses before they entered.

For our lunch, we ordered chicken enchiladas with blue corn tortillas and juevos rancheros, all topped off with a mouthwatering egg. What really made our meal so special was their Christmas-style chile, pouring their hotter red chile on one side with their milder green chile on the other. Every cheesy, sauce-filled bite grew spicier and more delicious as we continued eating.

Catch us on our next adventure! #ThisLoveIsTakingOff

Our First Dinner Party Invite in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Our first Dinner Party in the Neighborhood. Our neighbors across the street Jed and Evette invited us over. The question wasn't who IS an artist here, but who WASN'T an artist. 4 couples and at least one artist per couple. That's Santa Fe. I'm pretty sure a good time was had by all. I know I had a great time. And any party with dogs is always good time for me.
