Welcome to Eswatini - Kingdom of Swaziland | 90+ Countries with 3 Kids

Have you ever wondered what Swaziland is like? Swaziland is one of the smallest countries in Africa, but it is now starting to boom because of the full support of their government in promoting tourism. It has so much to offer in such a small space.

The highlight of our trip was the visit to Hlane Royal National Park, which is the largest in Swaziland and the best park to see the big five.

Enjoy the video and let us know where you're watching from!

The Kingdom of Eswatini: Our First African Experience (4K)

Embark on an exciting journey with me as I explore Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland) for the first time, showcasing the country's astonishing natural beauty, vibrant cities, and authentic cultural experiences.

Our adventure begins at Shonalanga Lodge in Dombeya Game game reserve, where giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, antelopes, and warthogs freely roam. Experience life up close with nature, as we wake up to the sight of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.

We then venture into the nearby city of Manzini, getting a glimpse of the city's vibrant lifestyle and the offerings of a typical supermarket. I take you through the bustling streets, giving you an authentic peek into the daily life in Eswatini's urban centres.

Accompanied by our knowledgeable guide Lunga from Nolu Tours, we traverse the markets in Mbabane, Eswatini's capital. We dive deep into the heart of Eswatini's culture as we explore the country's top attraction - the local cultural village.

Our Eswatini journey is enriched by a day spent with Phumie Mamba, the son of a local clan leader. We explore the Mamba Kingdom and gain an understanding of rural life and politics in Eswatini.

Next, we're on a self-drive tour to discover some of the country's hidden gems. A visit to the Hlane Royal National Park reveals an impressive collection of wildlife - white rhinos, wild lions, elephants, and more.

Finally, we cross the border into South Africa for an excursion to Kruger National Park, a journey that adds to the richness of our Sub-Saharan experience.

This video is a blend of a vlog and a documentary, featuring my first-hand accounts, interviews with local guides, and some breathtaking footage of a country very few people know much about.

Whether you're an armchair tourist, seeking travel inspiration, or considering a visit to Eswatini, join me as we discover some of what the beautiful nation of Eswatini offers travellers.

Swaziland - Making Chicken Dinner in the Village - Vlog in Eswatini

The country once known as Swaziland was renamed to Eswatini in 2018. I had a great time in a small village in Eswatini, about an hour and a half outside of the capital Mbabane, where we prepared dinner featuring five different variations of corn!

WORLD CHALLENGE TellYourStory - Swaziland 2015

Back in June of 2015, myself and 7 other students went on the trip of a life time. After 2 years of fundraising and even jumping out of an airplane the time had come to embark on an expedition to Swaziland. In the two weeks we were there I and all of the others achieved so much. We got involved with the community, learnt new skills and some even conquered fears.

On the day we left we were skeptical of what might happen within the next two weeks. All of it exceeded any exception and I had the time of my life. WE started by going to a neighbourhood care point (NCP) named Kandinda. It was here where we would get most involved with the local people and the traditions of the country. We played games, taught a little English and even helped put up the beginning of a communal kitchen. This would become a huge part of the community as many of the children would walk up to a mile to the NCP just to get a basic meal. It was this that stunned me the most.

The second phase was to go on trek. We would go on a canopy tour via zip-wires to cover 5 miles. It was incredible, with views like no other it defiantly the team back to life after enduring a lack of sleep for 4 nights. With good morale, a few snacks and bright sunshine we started the trek. Visiting potholes, view points and there was even a change to go swimming. It was FREEZING!

Phase 3 consisted of R&R. We would go on a safari tour where we'd get to see crocodiles and I even managed to ride a horse. I was terrified! but seeing zebra from horse back is an experience i will never forget.

If you are interested in doing world challenge or have started with your fundraising I would hugely encourage you to keep going! It was an experience I will never forget and I will be telling people about it for the rest of my life!

Thank you to all of those who helped organise the trip. To Martin and Karen for keeping us safe and to the 7 other challengers who made the trip as great as it was.
