St. Petersburg is a Russian port city on the Baltic Sea. It was the imperial capital for 2 centuries, having been founded in 1703 by Peter the Great, subject of the city's iconic “Bronze Horseman” statue. It remains Russia's cultural center, with venues such as the Mariinsky Theatre hosting opera and ballet, and the State Russian Museum showcasing Russian art, from Orthodox icon paintings to Kandinsky works.
Inside The Brutal Courtyards of Saint Petersburg, Russia
St Petersburg, Russia is famous for it's significant architecture, embankments, rivers and canals, bridges. But also known for it's specific courtyards of the historical buildings. They are different from courtyards of the rest of Russia because of specific features of architecture in Saint Petersburg.
Peter The Great, the founder of the city, in terms of economy of the land, commanded to construct all buildings next to each other with no spaces between them - solid facades. Because of this, most of courtyards of the historical buildings are surrounded by the walls. In Russian language such a courtyards called дворы-колодцы (courtyard-wells). Because their form reminds the form of water wall. In general.

Awesome Architectural Monument of 1930's Soviet Constructivism (40th Block) in St Petersburg, Russia
Kondratievsky Residential Massive (or Kondratievsky Housing Estate) is a residential district consisted of 12 buildings in Kalininsky District of St Petersburg, Russia. Official address is Kondratievsky Prospect, 40 (among the people known as 40th block).
Constructed in 1929-1931 by one of the best architects of Project Bureau of Constructing Committee. 12 same-kind of 60-apartment residential buildings, laundry, library, club, and kindergarten.
Kondratievsky Housing Estate was one of the first blocks constructed in Leningrad for the workers of Vyborg side of the city. The first residential district which is became a start point for a socialistic reconstruction of the district.
This complex is now considered as a monument of Constructivism.
But most probably will be renovated in the nearest years.

This miniature exposition of the vastness of the Russian Federation Is a known In Russia as Гранд Макет Россия . Incidentally, it is the second largest miniaiture model museum in the world, and the permanent exhibition. It opened to the public in 2012 and, although a little outside the city centre, has become one of St. Petersburg's most popular attractions, particularly among younger visitors.
