Full Episode: Design Meets Art in 5 Stunning Homes in NYC, LA, and Palm Springs | Open House TV

Join Open House host Sara Gore for a tour of several timeless yet contemporary homes. We kick off the episode from within 240 Park Ave S, PH17: a brand new 3900 sq. ft. penthouse in the Flatiron District that decked out with three bedrooms, Italian porcelain floors, high ceilings, a gas fireplace, a sleek kitchen, and an abundance of natural light.

We then venture over to The Astor, a historic building on the Upper West Side, to join Andrew Bowen, partner of Ash Staging, for a look around 235 W 75th St, #402. This expansive 3200 sq. ft. pre-war residence features a lot of the bones of a NYC classic with numerous modern upgrades, including the defining near-black corridor — with its white-oak floors that feature a herringbone pattern with inlay throughout and its classic architectural moldings — which serves as an artery throughout the home by creating a moody experience; adds drama and mystery when you open each door and are greeted by bright, well-lit rooms. From the contrasting colors and large sectional in the den to the ante room that features a circular console table and contemporary mirror — and the primary suite with its impressive bay window and seating nook to the main entertaining space that incorporates art that complements the curved furniture in a free-flowing layout — this home embodies balance, design, and functionality. As Bowen best describes it: an oasis of modern luxury.

Next: we fly over to the West Coast to join designer and stager Meridith Baer at 1772 N Crescent Heights Blvd. Los Angeles, just above the Sunset Strip. This 6-bedroom, 7-bath 9000 sq. ft. sumptuous home — complete with a primary bedroom that features a rooftop patio, wet bar, and fire pit — evokes a cozy & organic feeling despite its modern, industrial vibe. From the living room with its handwoven rugs, rounded furniture, and light fixtures stuck in the wall that add to the eclectic & unexpected nature of the space, to the gorgeous, contemporary kitchen and its playful touches, to the dining area with a free-floating chandelier, live-edge wood, and floor-to-ceiling doors that lead out to a pool and unobstructed views of the Hollywood Hills for miles, this luxurious residence is truly state-of-the-art.

After that, we join Andrew Heid, founder of No Architecture, in the West Village for a tour of a jaw-dropping home dubbed The Urban Treehouse. Heid and his team transformed the space from two modernist white box apartments into one large open home configured as a 2-bedroom that boasts warmth, natural light, an organic palette of natural, muted materials. From the practical functionality (where even every door offers storage or an opportunity to create a private enclosure at night) to the compressed pantry area that opens into the wow factor — a main, double-height living space, filled with 22-ft glass windows that look out right into the New York landscape, that offers dramatic scale and two defining treehouse areas for dining and relaxing. With their light, interactive structure and transparent nets, as well as the large concrete, fiber-reinforced planters that create a relationship between the trees outside versus the indoor ones, these treehouses serve as giant, dynamic pieces of furniture and are perfect for entertaining and enjoying breathtaking views of NYC. This dream project embodies, as Heid best puts it, the spiritual harmony between architecture and nature.

Next up: We join agent Cathy Taub on the Upper West Side for a peek inside a terrace penthouse on the Upper West Side in a building designed by architect William Boring. Not only is it spacious, it features its own landing, a wrap terrace with distinctive landmark architectural touches, a primary suite with a spa-like bathroom, and a great room with a marble-clad gas fireplace, tray ceiling with perimeter lighting throughout, and floor-to-ceiling French doors. As for the bonus element? A SECOND private rooftop terrace with multiple seating areas perfect for hosting guests and sweeping views of the city.

Last, we join interior designer Bradley Bayou in Palm Springs for a full tour of his unique home (originally owned by Bob Hope) that he bought over two decades ago. It was in great disrepair when he first purchased it, but he completely transformed it into a personable, welcoming space — complete with sentimental touches, pieces from his own collection and great finds from local businesses, colors inspired by the natural beauty outside, and a lounge area with a pool — that captures the essence of comfortable and serene desert living.

HOME TOURS: Architectural Treasures | Open House TV (Full Episode)

In the latest full episode of NBC's Open House, host Sara Gore invites viewers into four unforgettable homes in New York and California. Hit the play button to enjoy tours of homes with breathtaking views, rich original architecture, and gorgeous layouts.

First up: See how professional stager Cheryl Eisen and her team infused subtle contemporary upgrades throughout this over 6,700 sq ft residence to complement the original architecture and serve as a visual journey where history meets fashion and design. Once owned by fashion designer Oleg Cassini — who dressed Hollywood legends such as Marilyn Monroe, Lana Turner, Grace Kelly, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis — this magnificent Gothic Revival townhouse teems with elegance, luxury, and grandeur. With stained-glass windows adorning each floor, a gorgeous entry foyer with curved pieces such as the circular and leather-clad console that juxtapose beautifully with the intricate woodwork lining the walls and Flemish pattern stone floors; a show-stopping great room with soaring barrel-vaulted ceilings, 7-ft stone fireplace, hardwood walls that are decked out with modern sconces and artwork; a secret wine cellar and tasting room that are perfect for happy hour; a palace-style garden with a working fountain that’s an ideal spot for enjoying a cup of coffee; and an ornate staircase connecting all four levels of the home including the mezzanine with its romantic lighting, white-washed live-edge dining table surrounded by linen chairs, mirrors on the paneling to enlarge the space and reflect light, this 6-bedroom home is a Gramercy Park gem.

Next, interior designer Victoria Holly welcomes Open House into one of her latest projects — a lovely Studio City abode that is a fusion of grand millennial meets post-modern design. Tasked with transforming this builder-grade space into a personal paradise that captures her client's vibrant personality, she created a customized open-floor home full of interesting lighting, enhanced color schemes, and unexpected patterns — all while remaining resourceful and sustainable.
Standout moments include: elevating the fully white fireplace by painting it a pale blush pink — which changes the vibe while keeping the bones and structure in place; sourcing a vintage coffee table that spins around in a cozy living room that also features a jungle-print wallpaper and a palette of teals, browns, and mauves; a tailored kitchen that was re-painted in a rich green with a blue undertone and showcases artwork mounted on the tile backsplash and taco-shaped lights that are fun, playful, and unexpected — and juxtaposes the 1920s-inspired light fixture hanging over the dining room table.

After, we journey back to the East Coast to join Peter Gittleman, the team leader for the visitor experience at Historic New England, for a look around the renowned Gropius House located in Lincoln, Massachusetts. This perfectly preserved family home — and now a national historic landmark museum — was designed by Walter Gropius, the German founder of Bauhaus and an influential figure in modern architecture, during his tenure at Harvard. Gropius firmly believed that the modern New England home had to reflect modernity, so he used materials such as glass blocks which were not available to colonial New Englanders. He was trying to prove that you could build a contemporary New England house with new technologies available to modern New Englanders while still combining it with traditional, familiar elements — and that revolutionary character is evident throughout the two-story residence.

As for our last stop, we visit interior designer Anna Rosemann for a tour of a modernized West Hollywood penthouse that features touches of gold, chrome, and natural materials — all while maintaining a glam and effortless Los Angeles vibe. See how she and her team seamlessly transformed this sunny abode into a warm and welcoming space that implements luxurious elements and opposing design aesthetics without being over-the-top. From the inviting entryway with its gorgeous marble table and sculptural chandelier to the kitchen with its beige and gray tones and textured seats to the living room that's a combination of two separate areas — a comfy and cozy corner that's perfect for enjoying a good book & one that's more ideal for entertaining and having guests over for drinks and conversation — and opens to a balcony with gorgeous views of the Hollywood Hills. As for Rosemann's favorite room in the house? The primary suite that resembles a 5-star hotel experience with its mood lighting, embellished throw pillows, and tall bed fit for a king.

Full episode: Designed Luxury in 4 Exquisite Homes | Open House TV

Join Open House host Sara Gore for a tour of four breathtaking homes in New York and California that are filled with modern elegance, curated collections, and bespoke luxury.

First up: Welcome to the epitome of opulence and grandeur in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Jason Saft, a professional stager, takes #OpenHouseTV on a tour of 18 Prospect Park West: a five-story Gilded Age mansion that's conveniently located right across from Prospect Park and boasts over 9,000 square feet of exquisite architectural details, historic millwork, and old-world charm — including a limestone facade, stately wrought iron gate, and a Parisian-style canopy fashioned out of bronze and glass. So what inspired the design of each room in this gorgeous townhouse? Saft says the home's extraordinary character and original ornate touches — including beautiful ceiling moulding throughout — provided him with room to get creative while honoring the integrity of the space through curved bouclé sofas that mimic the pattern in the ceiling and a verdant rug that plays off the residence's proximity to the park and the onyx in the fireplace.

We then travel to Los Angeles where Martyn Lawrence Bullard, an interior designer who's worked with celebrities such as Cher and wrote the recently published book 'Star Style,' invites into his stunning 1920s villa that was built in the heart of Hollywood and exudes an ambiance of luxury, intrigue, and Mediterranean charm. Bullard originally designed the home for Craig Kilborn about 20 years ago, but upon purchasing the property for himself, he decided to infuse his own personal style in a way that provides flow, sparkle, and inspirational elements of surprise. One of the ways he achieved this was by installing metal frame windows, adding lighting fixtures made out of bronze and horse hair for a moment of unconventional flair, and commissioning an artist to paint a section of the ceiling in an intricate tile print (as seen on the magnificent fireplace) for a bit of Moroccan flavor.

Next, interior designer Vanessa DeLeon invites Open House viewers along for a tour of her latest project: a Parisian-inspired apartment on 5th Avenue. This New York City apartment is a complete gut renovation and one of the first things that DeLeon did was to completely open the space to fill it with more natural light and flow. From the new foyer with its textured gold-leafed wallpaper making a design statement as soon as you walk through the door to the show-stopping kitchen with its black-and-gold range, gold double-sided hood, waterfall edge countertops, and fixtures reminiscent of a Parisian bistro, this home is full of charm, style, and unexpected touches.

We wrap up this episode of Open House with a trip to the West Coast to join Alison Palevsky, an interior designer based in Santa Monica, California, for a look around a house in the Pacific Palisades that she and her team designed from the ground up that's pattern rich and a lovely showcase of both style and function. See how she turned this open floor space into a vibrant home full of natural light and visual interest through a mix of sustainable materials and an aesthetic that combines vintage and contemporary pieces.

Up next: interior designer Vanessa DeLeon introduces viewers to a duplex she designed for empty-nester clients on the Upper West Side, who decided to upsize their living situation by purchasing the apartment above them and combining it with their current one after their kids went off to college. This was a full gut renovation that began with establishing a color palette that was inspired by DeLeon's client's travels, and ensures continuity and sentimental touches throughout the home. The finished project, designed with an open-concept floor plan in mind, includes lucite chairs featuring the couple's favorite song lyrics printed on the back, a staircase with light fixtures her clients bought in Paris and show-stopping wallpaper that matches the rest of the apartment; a dining room with a bleached table and linear & translucent chandelier that delineates the space; a kitchen with light blue cabinetry, as well as a large island with a stunning countertop and backsplash; a living room with two round sofas that flank the fireplace (which incorporates the same material used in the kitchen); and an active lounge that's perfect for watching a movie, playing games, or enjoying a snack. In essence, this home exudes comfort, design and functionality.

Finally, we drop by New York City's Flower District to visit interior designer Drew McGukin. No stranger to taking risks, McGukin's live/work Chelsea loft is a tribute to his unique aesthetic and penchant for embracing color. His home features an office space with bright light, fun pops of taxi-cab yellow and a cork wall perfect for client presentations; open bookcases that serve as dividers between the work and living areas; a dining room that transitions into the kitchen with a bar cabinet as an anchor; a bedroom with a large skylight, walk-in closet, and abstract wallpaper featuring patterns that originate from an actual painting; and a living room that includes a mash-up of his favorite client moments, vintage pieces that add an element of timelessness to the space, and one-of-a-kind Aboriginal artwork and classic photographs. Full Episode: Luxury Homes with Designer Flourish | Open House TV

Kicking things off at a stunning corner duplex in in the iconic Plaza Hotel, Open House host Sara Gore takes us on a tour of 5 exquisite homes that teem with style and personality.

We first journey to Williamsburg to visit with artist and designer Sean McNanney, founder of Saved New York in the West Village. What Sean (a passionate collector of ceramics, especially Robert Lehman) enjoys most about design is creating a story using materials and textures that contain a traceable history and invoke a poetic feeling. And his warm Brooklyn railroad-style apartment features a a lifetime of collected art, furnishings, and eclectic pieces (including Turkish turquoise parrot trinkets). From the original floors layered with 19th century carpets to the dining room adorned with overhead lamps embroidered by hand and a quilt he worked on with his grandmother when he was little to the kitchen that serves as a scrapbook for culinary exploration and sweet touches (including a portrait of his family and his great-grandmother's fancy dishes, and an original built-in that's jazzed up with 19th century papier-mâché trays), this home is haven of creativity and memories.

Next up: we drop by 25325 Prado De La Felicidad in Calabasas, CA to join Marcy Roth for a tour of a sprawling estate. The first thing you notice upon entering this impressive Mediterranean-style abode, is the volume and height of the soaring ceilings — along with dueling spiral staircases — that create the drama of a grand entrance and set the stage for all the timeless elegance and state-of-the-art luxuries that await inside. Standout moments include: a formal step-down living room with a bar crafted from a porcelain slab and custom brass accents; the wine tasting room that was constructed from biblical stone (aka cobblestone directly from the Holy Land) that dates back over 2000 years and is adorned with a Roman stone ceiling featuring hand-painted frescoes; a masterpiece kitchen that showcases Italian onyx countertops & dual islands; a billiard room with leather walls, an ornate chandelier that hangs over the pool table, and custom dark woodwork; and a backyard where an infinity swimming pool, fire pit, and 700 sq.ft. putting green await. Overall, with its captivating hillside views & meticulous attention to detail, this property offer the epitome of upscale living.

After, we zip over to a rejuvenated Soho loft in NYC designed by interior designer Alvin Wayne. So how do you revamp an old-school apartment to not only feel fresh and unique — but also design-savvy AND family-friendly? Not an easy task, but Alvin was more than up for the creative challenge of bringing a blank living space to life with a deft use of interesting colors, repeating patterns, and eye-catching art. Key inspirational moments include: a 60ft foyer that expands front to back and includes a mirror to reflect light, giant paper lanterns for an ethereal touch, and rounded arch that softens the room and frames the home nicely as they lead to the two (yes, TWO!) living areas (one for the family to enjoy television together and the other for more intimate gatherings); a transformed kitchen that features tile in a similar aesthetic to a fireplace and leans in to an industrial aesthetic with a rolling cart, open floating shelves that display art his clients decided to not include in the main living area, and a charming breakfast nook with an antique church pew and distressed metal table; and a lounge for music listening with low marvelous seating, different shades of blue for visual interest, and a coffee table comprised of metal legs, acrylic, and a glass top.

We head back to Los Angeles to join interior designer Nicole Sassaman for a look around one of her recent projects: a home for 'Ocean's 8' Hollywood producer Susan Ekins, who purchased the property from Anne Hathaway. See how Nicole added playful touches with just the right amount of glamour to create a home that is stylish yet comfortable. From the movie sign that welcomes you into the main living space — which also features fun plays on pink and a light fixture with crystals that serves as a unique take on the old Sputnik light — to a countryside-inspired kitchen with a farm sink, chicken wire cabinetry, farmhouse table, and large windows with an open exposure that leads to an outdoor forest, to a dedicated nook that displays a variety of movie mementos + highlights from Susan's amazing career (including props from Karate Kid & Ocean's 8), this home is effortless and personable to the max.

Las, we visit Weehawken, New Jersey to join Kesha Franklin, principal of Halden Interiors, for a look around her client’s riverfront abode. See how she mixed artifacts and objects from all over Africa with works by her clients favorite African-American artists, all while adding texture and pattern throughout. Add to that, statement lighting and comfortable furnishings and the result is a dramatic home that’s as worldly as it is welcoming.

HOME TOURS: Classic Meets Modern with 5 Spectacular Properties | Open House TV

In this all-new episode of Open House, host Sara Gore leads us through five spectacular properties located in California, New York, and Massachusetts that serve as prime examples of classic style meets contemporary design.

We kick off this episode with Ian Slater, who invites into a stunning duplex penthouse located in the heart of the West Chelsea Gallery District at 455 West 20th St — a condominium built by architect Alan Wanzenberg that’s situated within the grounds of the General Theological Seminary. Occupying 3,800 sq ft, this 4-bedroom residence seamlessly dovetails old-world charm with elegant upgrades and features custom millwork, gorgeous hardwood herringbone flooring, and ample natural light.

Next, architects Colin Flavin and Heather Souza, who take us inside the Wales House in Lincoln, Massachusetts — a 1958 modernist home that was originally designed by Henry Hoover and Walter Hill and respectfully seeps into the natural topography surrounding it with an entry stairway that floats over existing glacial stone. Tasked with updating this mid-century modern space for a growing family, the Flavin Architects duo focused on opening the interior of the home while incorporating innovative materials that honor the bones of the original architecture. Recent additions from this one-story renovation include a carport building, yoga studio with a wall of glass that opens into a sunlit courtyard, and main living area that embraces their firm's natural modernism design principles: open flow, ample light, and visual connection to the breathtaking landscape.

We then journey to Pasadena, California to join curator Jennifer Trotoux for a tour of the iconic Gamble House: a national landmark in the U.S. and classic example of American Arts & Crafts architecture. Built in 1908 by architects Greene and Greene as a winter escape for David and Mary Gamble, who lived in Cincinnati the rest of the year, this well-preserved masterpiece features many distinctive design elements and handcrafted details, including: beautiful joinery throughout the home; motifs such as the family crest and unique inlays that showcase a variety of special materials; an exterior that shows the Greene and Greene's interest in implementing Japan's timber architecture throughout Southern California; and a living room with an inglenook that places emphasis on the hearth, a library table, and a Redwood frieze that incorporates the theme of Japanese art and nature into the home.

Interior design Libby Langdon then invites Open House viewers into one of her recent projects: a bright and airy apartment in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood where she offers us some fun design tips and inspiration, including how to seamlessly incorporate different elements into one cohesive design. The real drama begins when you step off the elevator and into the foyer with its texture linear wallpaper and a circular motif. This curved theme continues in the dining room with barrel-back chairs and key places such as with the hardware on the console, base of the table, and the light crystal chandelier. And while the apartment is predominantly styled in neutral tones, Langdon infused pops of color throughout with large art to help make an impactful style statement.

As for the last stop in this week's episode? A regal estate in Burbank, California known as The Burbank Castle. Scott Rosenthal takes us on a tour of all 5,300 square feet of this stunning property that features unique architectural details such as hand-painted murals and an accordion glass elevator. With its beautiful, distressed beams and completely unobstructed panoramic views of The Valley, this Victorian Tudor-style home is filled with luxurious touches and custom craftsmanship, including a Venetian-painted ceiling in the dining room, stained glass windows in the bedroom that usher in an abundance of natural light, and a one-of-a-kind lion's den with two vantage points.

A Timeless Gilded Age Mansion in Park Slope, Brooklyn | Open House TV

Welcome to the epitome of opulence and grandeur in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Other points of visual interest include the middle parlor that features stunning woodwork (such as carved lions) and sculpted furniture, and serves as the social heart of the home; a majestic oak staircase with hand-carved posts and a magnificent fireplace with a Thomas O'Brien poem inscribed in the mantle to capture that feeling of warmth in a home; a dining room that is adorned with rare light fixtures that function as works of art, curved chairs, a green rug, and an oversized traditional table that's ideal for entertaining dinner guests; an elegant library pieces from different time periods — including an Eames chaise and Jean Carlo valet chair — as well as a unique light fixture that features a stunning medallion; and a primary suite that features several zones — a sleeping area with a modern king size bed, a sitting area with a mid-century-inspired sofa, a workstation with sculptural chairs by Sarah Sherman Samuel, and a vast dressing room with stained glass windows and intricate closets — that exudes a serene and relaxing atmosphere.
