Full Episode: Old World Charm Meets Contemporary Design in 5 NY & California Homes | Open House TV

Welcome to another episode of Open House. Get ready to join Sara Gore for a peek inside some 5 stunning and unique homes in NY and California, where classic meets the contemporary.

First up: Welcome to the West Village, where designer and professional stager Cheryl Eisen takes us on a tour of a historic brownstone townhouse with a modern flair at 75 Bedford Street. This New York City home boasts 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 4 wood-burning fireplaces, white oak floors, 18-ft ceilings, an abundance of natural light, and floor-to-ceiling French Doors on the first and second floor that open into a private backyard. Enjoy the natural light that pours in through the massive windows, while taking a glance through them to see the wondrous garden and viewing all that the area has to offer. Mix this with a private home theater, a magnificent bedroom, and a bathroom that incorporates the relaxation of a spa, and you’ve got yourself a one-of-a-kind home!

Next, we drop by the stunning home of CEO and founder of MarieBelle New York, Maribel Lieberman (along with her best furry friend Willow!) for an exclusive look around her luxurious Soho residence, where she's lived for 34 years. Be transported back through time with the 19th century European-inspired design and take in all the sentimental wonders of her beautiful loft, including a hallway featuring abstract art created by her late husband. From the living room that features furniture that she acquired from the flea market and chandeliers manufactured in the Czech Republic, to the library that includes a piano played by her daughter and an old-fashioned marble fireplace from Italy, to a spacious kitchen where she whips up delicious concoctions (like her infamous hot chocolate), Maribel incorporates numerous old-world aspects (such as a staircase featuring cast-iron railings and black-and-white art) to create a space that exudes warmth, elegance, and plenty of charm.

After that, we zip over to the West Coast to join Lisa Kanegae, the founder and principal designer of LHK Interiors Design Studio in La Cañada, California (just north of Los Angeles), and her sweet puppy Brownie for a look around her newly renovated abode, which she designed herself and is as stylish as it is effortless. She begins in the living room where her high wooden beams add architectural interest and her DIY black accent herringbone wall provides an alluring organic contrast against the limestone in the room, as well as a dramatic moment in a traditional space. We then continue into the “heart of the home: the kitchen! Lisa’s extraordinary talent for interior design, sparked a deeply elegant and bright place to cook — complete with stone porcelain walls, contemporary organizational hardware with a waterfall edge island, and gold-accented top lights. We also wander through the family, which is full of fresh air thanks to the sliding doors that allow for an indoor/outdoor living space. The house continues to amaze with private bedrooms, bathrooms, and Lisa’s very own personal closet that is perfectly organized.

We then meet up with Noble Black to explore an expansive penthouse located at the Mayfair at 610 Park Avenue! Relax and take in all the details about this 7,700 sq. ft. three-story gem that includes 1,400 sq. ft. of outdoor space with breathtaking views of NYC! This state-of-the-art triplex apartment features a spacious entry foyer, custom millwork, a functional kitchen with a cozy breakfast nook, a massive living room with views of Central Park, a great room with a wood-burning fireplace that's adjacent to a classic library, and floors that serve a unique purpose. The bottom floor offers relaxing-yet-refined private bedrooms, while the main floor is perfect for hosting events, and the top terrace is wonderful for some fresh air with captivating views of the Midtown and Upper East Side skylines.

Last but not least, we visit a mid-century gem in Croton-on-Hudson that was renovated by architects Tal Schori and Rustam Mehta, who honored the home's natural beauty and historic structure while bringing their client's vision for seamless modern touches to life. With their specialty in dovetailing unique elements of the space with their personal design aesthetic, the designers used dark colors (including black window frames), red terracotta floors that provide radiant heat and stitch all elements of the home together, beams that track throughout the house, and purposeful positioning of furniture to ensure the house is integrated into the gorgeous Hudson landscape that surrounds it.

Full episode: Designed Luxury in 4 Exquisite Homes | Open House TV

Join Open House host Sara Gore for a tour of four breathtaking homes in New York and California that are filled with modern elegance, curated collections, and bespoke luxury.

First up: Welcome to the epitome of opulence and grandeur in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Jason Saft, a professional stager, takes #OpenHouseTV on a tour of 18 Prospect Park West: a five-story Gilded Age mansion that's conveniently located right across from Prospect Park and boasts over 9,000 square feet of exquisite architectural details, historic millwork, and old-world charm — including a limestone facade, stately wrought iron gate, and a Parisian-style canopy fashioned out of bronze and glass. So what inspired the design of each room in this gorgeous townhouse? Saft says the home's extraordinary character and original ornate touches — including beautiful ceiling moulding throughout — provided him with room to get creative while honoring the integrity of the space through curved bouclé sofas that mimic the pattern in the ceiling and a verdant rug that plays off the residence's proximity to the park and the onyx in the fireplace.

We then travel to Los Angeles where Martyn Lawrence Bullard, an interior designer who's worked with celebrities such as Cher and wrote the recently published book 'Star Style,' invites into his stunning 1920s villa that was built in the heart of Hollywood and exudes an ambiance of luxury, intrigue, and Mediterranean charm. Bullard originally designed the home for Craig Kilborn about 20 years ago, but upon purchasing the property for himself, he decided to infuse his own personal style in a way that provides flow, sparkle, and inspirational elements of surprise. One of the ways he achieved this was by installing metal frame windows, adding lighting fixtures made out of bronze and horse hair for a moment of unconventional flair, and commissioning an artist to paint a section of the ceiling in an intricate tile print (as seen on the magnificent fireplace) for a bit of Moroccan flavor.

Next, interior designer Vanessa DeLeon invites Open House viewers along for a tour of her latest project: a Parisian-inspired apartment on 5th Avenue. This New York City apartment is a complete gut renovation and one of the first things that DeLeon did was to completely open the space to fill it with more natural light and flow. From the new foyer with its textured gold-leafed wallpaper making a design statement as soon as you walk through the door to the show-stopping kitchen with its black-and-gold range, gold double-sided hood, waterfall edge countertops, and fixtures reminiscent of a Parisian bistro, this home is full of charm, style, and unexpected touches.

We wrap up this episode of Open House with a trip to the West Coast to join Alison Palevsky, an interior designer based in Santa Monica, California, for a look around a house in the Pacific Palisades that she and her team designed from the ground up that's pattern rich and a lovely showcase of both style and function. See how she turned this open floor space into a vibrant home full of natural light and visual interest through a mix of sustainable materials and an aesthetic that combines vintage and contemporary pieces.

FULL EPISODE: Cinematic Estates & Luxurious Homes in New York & Southern California | Open House TV

Join Open House host Sara Gore for a tour of unique and gorgeous homes with sweeping views in New York City and Southern California.

First stop: 285 Lafayette Street, Unit 7AB. Brett Mitchell takes us on a tour of this flagship penthouse in Nolita that was a former chocolate factory that has been reimagined into an entertainer's paradise and features 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 half baths, large bar area, chef's quality kitchen with an eight-burner oven and two refrigerators, a walk-in dressing room, and multiple living spaces (including a private foyer flanked by two massive living spaces — one with an informal vibe and one for more elegant soirees) that flow into two huge terraces that are the epitome of al fresco dining. Filled with natural light, this home offers 360° of exposure, Brazilian mahogany floors, low-profile furniture that accentuates the high ceilings, and feels like a floating abode in downtown Manhattan.

Then, we fly over to the West Coast to join Guy Ravid for a tour of a futuristic estate, located in Encinitas, CA (532 Neptune Avenue, to be exact), nicknamed The Crescent House after its curved walls and vertebrae staircase, circular courtyard, and unique crescent-shaped infinity pool. Designed by visionary architect Wallace E. Cunningham, this massive property (as seen in WESTWORLD Season 3) is a sculptural masterpiece that boasts five bedrooms, four bathrooms, two half-baths, a private elevator, and interior living space all highlighted by concrete and steel and floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this striking 6329 sq. ft. beachside home — with its stunning panoramic views, geometric intricacies, multiple tiered decks and patios, and East/West-facing plan that allows for a dramatic intake of light at all times of day — is a great example of modern meets minimal and truly one of a kind.

Next, we link up with interior designer Marie Burgos to learn more about her latest project: an exquisite home located in Carroll Gardens. This Brooklyn abode was inspired by her client's Brazilian heritage and is a perfect fusion of functionality meets art, as well as a celebration of life, love, and nature — as noted through the impeccable millwork that serves as a defining feature, as well as the touches of greenery infused throughout the space. From the natural materials and curved sofa in the open-concept living room and the modern kitchen with a cozy breakfast nook that captures the feeling of dining on the beach, to the dreamy nursery room complete with custom wallpaper that's full of whimsy and the family room on the garden level that includes a hidden bar and entry to a private backyard, this home radiates with warmth and wonder.

After that, we zip over to Tribeca to visit Colin King's live/work loft. The interior designer and author of ‘Arranging Things’ — in an effort to accommodate his growing firm — transformed this airy apartment, located inside an old industrial building, into a space that feels cozy and inviting, and inspires creativity and relaxation throughout the day. Despite being intimidated by the size of the apartment, Colin fell in love with its bones and all the natural light, and found detailed ways to personalize it and make it feel like home, including: the entrance via elevator, original pinewood floors, the sauna-like primary bedroom with its low-profile bed, deep reddish-brown hues, and cavernous paneling; and an office that serves as an incubator for ideas with its 18th century baroque table, Akari lantern by Noguchi, inspirational images, custom bookshelves to house some of his collection, and an oversized shearling chair perfect for curling up in with a good read. With a design that evokes a sense of calm and beauty — as epitomized by the well-lit living space with its soft beige tone, dramatic tree (re: large branch held in place by a bunch of sand bags), 12-ft Stay Bed that anchors the room, and vintage finds from his travels — this home is a good representation of things that bring him joy.

Last but not least, we head over to the Hamptons to join Andrea Anthony (and her adorable pup Vinny), one of the owners of the famed Lobster Roll restaurant, aka LUNCH, for a tour of her beach cottage located in Amagansett. With its laidback den (complete with stone floors, fossils, and a player piano), large decks around the house (one for sunbathing and taking a dip in the pool and a pergola for unwinding under the shade while enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings), and an upper level with open, airy kitchen and gorgeous views of the bay. Overall: a slice of paradise that is as welcoming as she is!

Full Show: 5 Modern Homes with Unique Architecture & Style | Open House TV

Ready to step inside five modern marvels that feature unique architecture with style to spare? Open House host Sara Gore takes on a tour of more beautiful homes this week!

First, we meet up with architect Gregory Sharp at 153 East 30th Street to check out a renovated townhouse! Tasked with converting a multi-family home into a single-family townhouse, Sharp embraced the challenge and reimagined all 5500 square feet into a 5-bedroom, 5-bath modern abode in Kips Bay. From a formal parlor room upon entry to the seamless flow between the kitchen, living room, and backyard, this home emphasizes an open dialogue between the interior and exterior spaces.

After, we journey to downtown NYC to take a tour of Zoe Vidali and Peter Vits' NoHo home! When the architect and designer and her entrepreneur husband first bought this place, it was a typical 1980s artist loft, but they saw great potential in its massive volume. They completely gut renovated the space to take advantage of its full height and reimagined it into a tri-level home with ample room to live in. From removing the original facade and replacing it with a 3-story cast-iron window to allow for more natural light to eliminating most of the floor plates to create more spaces, including an entertaining area on the basement level that is topped off with a bar and sauna, their upgrades have allowed each floor to effortlessly blend into one another. When you have an indoor garden and a window inside of your house that allows you to look out to the rest of your loft, you just know you are dealing with a very special home!

Next, we fly down to New Orleans to join architect Nathan Fell for a tour of his one-of-a-kind Mid-City home! Fell and his family love city living but also enjoying spending time outdoors, so through a design aesthetic that emphasizes transparency, he was able to configure an indoor and outdoor dialogue that enables interaction and maximizes the building's verticality. Different types of natural materials are what makes this home unique, including 12-ft high sliding glass doors that surround the place, exposed concrete walls, walnut-clad cabinetry, black granite on the kitchen island that serves as a reflective surface, and a variety of wood to create a cooling effect throughout the home. The living room kitchen, and dining room are also all seamlessly connected and to bring life to the dark and rustic color schemes in each room, Fell found playful ways to add bold pops of colors to brighten up the space and counterbalance the otherwise more static materials. Additionally, the outdoor area is a must-see: the pool expands the entire living area and there is a roof deck with views of downtown Nola that's perfect for entertaining guests.

After this segment, we journey to 1291 Will Geer Road in Topanga, California to join estate agent and content creator Aaron Grushow for a tour of Trust Ranch (which stands for The Ranch Upon Sacred Territory). From its expansive great room with soaring wooden ceilings and panoramic views of the Santa Monica mountains to the rustic, airy kitchen with an oversized center island, custom tiles and cabinetry, and overall earthy elements that include barn doors that lead right into a multi-purpose, multi-functional project room, this magnificent 6-bedroom 17-acre estate is a true sanctuary that is perfect for enjoying quiet moments of leisure but also entertaining large groups of friends and family. If you’re aching for some natural light, fresh air, and outdoor bliss, this house and its gorgeous grounds — complete with horse stables, a private vinyard, an 1800 sq/ft open-floor plan, guest house with canyon views and patio, and an outdoor pavilion that supports the solar panels and has been used for aerial silk classes, this luxurious yet calming haven will do the trick!

We top off the episode with a tour of a charming Brooklyn home designed by NYC-based interior designer Eneia White. Featuring original details (so as to now disrupt some of the classic highlights of the home), modern silhouettes, creamy colors, and huge bay windows, this space exudes loads of casual elegance while also striking a balance between contemporary and cozy living. Overall, it feels like a warm hug at the end of a long day and showcases how whimsical details can make an otherwise traditional space really shine and flourish!

Full Episode: Luxury Homes with Designer Flourish | Open House TV

Kicking things off at a stunning corner duplex in in the iconic Plaza Hotel, Open House host Sara Gore takes us on a tour of 5 exquisite homes that teem with style and personality.

We first journey to Williamsburg to visit with artist and designer Sean McNanney, founder of Saved New York in the West Village. What Sean (a passionate collector of ceramics, especially Robert Lehman) enjoys most about design is creating a story using materials and textures that contain a traceable history and invoke a poetic feeling. And his warm Brooklyn railroad-style apartment features a a lifetime of collected art, furnishings, and eclectic pieces (including Turkish turquoise parrot trinkets). From the original floors layered with 19th century carpets to the dining room adorned with overhead lamps embroidered by hand and a quilt he worked on with his grandmother when he was little to the kitchen that serves as a scrapbook for culinary exploration and sweet touches (including a portrait of his family and his great-grandmother's fancy dishes, and an original built-in that's jazzed up with 19th century papier-mâché trays), this home is haven of creativity and memories.

Next up: we drop by 25325 Prado De La Felicidad in Calabasas, CA to join Marcy Roth for a tour of a sprawling estate. The first thing you notice upon entering this impressive Mediterranean-style abode, is the volume and height of the soaring ceilings — along with dueling spiral staircases — that create the drama of a grand entrance and set the stage for all the timeless elegance and state-of-the-art luxuries that await inside. Standout moments include: a formal step-down living room with a bar crafted from a porcelain slab and custom brass accents; the wine tasting room that was constructed from biblical stone (aka cobblestone directly from the Holy Land) that dates back over 2000 years and is adorned with a Roman stone ceiling featuring hand-painted frescoes; a masterpiece kitchen that showcases Italian onyx countertops & dual islands; a billiard room with leather walls, an ornate chandelier that hangs over the pool table, and custom dark woodwork; and a backyard where an infinity swimming pool, fire pit, and 700 sq.ft. putting green await. Overall, with its captivating hillside views & meticulous attention to detail, this property offer the epitome of upscale living.

After, we zip over to a rejuvenated Soho loft in NYC designed by interior designer Alvin Wayne. So how do you revamp an old-school apartment to not only feel fresh and unique — but also design-savvy AND family-friendly? Not an easy task, but Alvin was more than up for the creative challenge of bringing a blank living space to life with a deft use of interesting colors, repeating patterns, and eye-catching art. Key inspirational moments include: a 60ft foyer that expands front to back and includes a mirror to reflect light, giant paper lanterns for an ethereal touch, and rounded arch that softens the room and frames the home nicely as they lead to the two (yes, TWO!) living areas (one for the family to enjoy television together and the other for more intimate gatherings); a transformed kitchen that features tile in a similar aesthetic to a fireplace and leans in to an industrial aesthetic with a rolling cart, open floating shelves that display art his clients decided to not include in the main living area, and a charming breakfast nook with an antique church pew and distressed metal table; and a lounge for music listening with low marvelous seating, different shades of blue for visual interest, and a coffee table comprised of metal legs, acrylic, and a glass top.

We head back to Los Angeles to join interior designer Nicole Sassaman for a look around one of her recent projects: a home for 'Ocean's 8' Hollywood producer Susan Ekins, who purchased the property from Anne Hathaway. See how Nicole added playful touches with just the right amount of glamour to create a home that is stylish yet comfortable. From the movie sign that welcomes you into the main living space — which also features fun plays on pink and a light fixture with crystals that serves as a unique take on the old Sputnik light — to a countryside-inspired kitchen with a farm sink, chicken wire cabinetry, farmhouse table, and large windows with an open exposure that leads to an outdoor forest, to a dedicated nook that displays a variety of movie mementos + highlights from Susan's amazing career (including props from Karate Kid & Ocean's 8), this home is effortless and personable to the max.

Las, we visit Weehawken, New Jersey to join Kesha Franklin, principal of Halden Interiors, for a look around her client’s riverfront abode. See how she mixed artifacts and objects from all over Africa with works by her clients favorite African-American artists, all while adding texture and pattern throughout. Add to that, statement lighting and comfortable furnishings and the result is a dramatic home that’s as worldly as it is welcoming.

HOME TOURS: Power Couples & Jaw-dropping Design | Open House TV

Ready to explore more beautiful homes across New York and California? Open House host Sara Gore leads the way as we step into five more stunning spaces in this week's all new episode.

We kick things off with real estate gurus Tarek El Moussa & Heather Rae El Moussa, who are known for dishing out helpful tips and hacks on HGTV, invite us into their warm and spacious Newport Beach, California home that they share with their three children and adorable pup Buggy. Their vision for this renovation was a sleek hotel aesthetic, which they accomplished through custom wallpaper, a bar area that greets visitors upon stepping through the front doors and is accented with a bright statement piece chandelier, as well as black countertop and chairs, and a chic-yet-functional style that reflects their unique personalities and needs of their family.

We then step inside the stylish loft of Hannah Bronfman and Brendan Fallis. See how the entrepreneurial power couple transformed this cavernous downtown NYC factory warehouse into a contemporary dream home for them and their two young children, Preston and Claude. Since purchasing their home a little over four years ago, they have been renovating it into a triplex that includes a mezzanine level that consists of the primary suite, main level, and lower level with two bedrooms, media room, and a conservatory (atrium). Overall, they wanted to create a home that felt warm and inviting, but could also accommodate large groups for family gatherings and dinner parties — so they turned the living room into an optimal entertaining area with an open-floor setting, plush communal sofa, record bar, and large coffee table. As for one of the focal points in this expansive space is an overhead art piece light fixture called the 'floss coordinates' that's actually five different chandeliers that's been worked up into a cone and not only pulls in the brass from the mirrors left behind by the previous owner but also draws you into the center of the space.

After that, architect Leah Solk invites us into a recently completed project: a brownstone in Greenwich Village. One of her goals in renovating this historic New York City apartment (originally constructed in 1839) was to revitalize it, open it up so that you could see through it from front to back, and fill it with warmth and character — all while maintaining its architectural integrity — which results in a beautiful fusion of modernism and Greek revival elements. From the multipurpose vestibule with its whimsical 'Alice in Wonderland'-themed wallpaper to the communal living/dining room with a wood-burning fireplace and large windows that flood the area with natural light, this floor-through home offers visual flourishes along with versatile functionality.

Next: Get ready to step into an eclectic house of oddities and curiosities. Artist and animator Mike Guerena, who's worked on television series such as 'Mission Hill' and 'Bob's Burgers,' invites Open House viewers into his private home in Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California that he shares with his wife and shows us around his rare, unique, and strange collectibles. According to Guerena, who is an avid collector of art and memorabilia, guests are usually pretty shocked at all the items he's amassed over the years, but to him they are treasure finds that have more to do with creativity and personal interests than how much they're worth. I just like the way it looks — the beauty of it, he explains. I can tell you a story about every little thing on that wall.

Finally, we wrap up the episode with a trip to Bellport, New York to join designer Phillip Thomas for a tour of one of his gorgeous projects that fosters a sense of fun from the moment you walk in and was designed to share with friends and family regardless of the occasion. He shows us around his client's home which is expansive yet intimate, and encourages easy celebration inside and out.

From an idyllic townhouse in the West Village to homes in Paris, Lake Tahoe, Beverly Hills — and yes, even a stop at a jaw-dropping penthouse the iconic Plaza in midtown New York City with a room inspired by Eloise — this episode features homes that are as stylish as they are impressive.

First, we meet up with Maggie Marshall at 31 Grove Street: a beautifully renovated townhouse in the heart of the West Village. This 4200 sq. ft. 19th century gem embraces the unique original details that give this residence its historic charm, while seamlessly integrating some modern updates, including a steel-and-glass staircase that runs through the entire house, a spacious chef's kitchen with views of a private garden and custom cabinetry, and an indoor/outdoor entertaining center downstairs with a wet bar.

After, we drop by 1061 Loma Vista Dr: an 8,800 sq ft masterpiece in Beverly Hills that features 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. This beautifully renovated mid-century home in Beverly Hills was originally built in 1959 by architect Rex Lotery and has since been expanded, restored, and modernized to make the most of the sunny California lifestyle. Designer and developer Philippe Nauori takes us a tour of this Corinne Calvet residence that is all about maximalist minimalism with its clean sleek lines, meticulous landscaping and vegetation, relaxing pool oasis inspired by a Brazilian paradise, original woodwork that makes the most of natural light, and unique art pieces.

Then, we zip over to a glamorous corner duplex inside the private residences at the iconic Plaza Hotel. This 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom beauty spans well over 3500 sq ft with original historical details mixing seamlessly with eye-catching modern decor, designed by professional stager Jason Saft. From the massive great room that Saft segmented into four distinct zones — including an area for relaxation and take in views of Central Park and a entertaining space with a custom bar that's anchored with a circular rug, round coffee tables, and four mirrors to make it feel less boxy and reflect light — to a dining room that underwent a dramatic transformation into a jewel box room that features elements from different eras, florals, and traditional touches, to a whimsical room that references the beloved children's book character Eloise on the dresser, this home exudes a certain boldness that sets it apart with a comfortable softness that makes it ideal for everyday living.

We then drop by Lake Tahoe for a look at a modern take on a classic home with an A-frame silhouette that was conceived by architect Todd Maher. We learn more about what inspired the imagining of this traditional mountain ski-cabin — aptly named Phoenix Rising after it was built from the literal ashes of a quintessential lake cottage — and how he morphed this symmetrical building into a warm and inviting abode full of geometric surprises and functional upgrades — including, but not limited to: a wood-burning fireplace in the great room, along with decorative beams and a circular multi-layered chandelier that binds the space together; a kitchen that embraces natural light and the beautiful views outside through bar seating under the cabinet window; a curved staircase for a touch of whimsey; and an intricate roofing pattern that is applied indoors as well.

Finally, we end the episode in Paris, France! Interior designer Elliot Barnes shows us around one of his newest projects: a full gut renovation of an elegant 19th century townhouse right in the heart of Paris's 16th for a family of six — just minutes away from the Eiffel Tower. From the entrance through a private square with a charming lamp post, to the extension of the main living room that projects into the back of a tranquil garden, to the living room featuring an Italian bubble-shaped chandelier, this Parisian home beautifully dovetails traditional details with distinct modern ones.

First, we drop by 1110 Park Avenue: a lavish triplex penthouse on the Upper East Side. Eva Penson shows us around this 7,000-square-foot 5-bedroom home that is filled with luxurious custom details, including soaring 14-ft ceilings, oak hardwood floors; a beautiful marble fireplace; a discreet keyed elevator that opens into an elegant foyer; a show-stopping Baccarat chandelier; a kitchen designed by Christopher Peacock that features white Italian Statuario Piccolo marble countertops, hand-painted cabinetry, and a dining corner with an open view of the George Washington Bridge; and stylish-meets-serene bedroom suites with spa-like baths and generous closets. And the cherry on top? After that, we journey to Manhattan Beach, California to explore architect Anthony Laney's latest project: a home that is a celebration of indoor-outdoor living. His client, inspired by their travels to tropical locations, wanted something warm, comfortable, and approachable. And with its distinct scalloped concrete walls that not only structurally support the edifice but also move vertically throughout it, interacting with light and natural surroundings in fresh, unexpected ways — as well a kitchen that connects directly to the pool deck and features a built-in breakfast banquette and views of the garden; relaxing bedroom retreats that overlook the Pacific Ocean and include sliding windows that quite literally disappear, and a sunny space dubbed the California room that's perfect for lounging and escaping the bustle of everyday life — this design exceeds all expectations and offers a sense of serenity and calm.

How do you go about designing a comfortable house to meet the challenges of a changing world? Join architect William Ruhl at his family’s oceanfront residence called Gap Cove House in Rockport, Massachusetts to see firsthand the thoughtful features he implemented when he renovated a old ranch style house into a net-zero home that is as stunning as it is sustainable. Perched just 25 feet above the waterline, this 1,800-square-foot light-filled home is sheathed in copper shingles to protect it from storms, includes invisible solar panels on the roof to generate electricity, and features a main living space with a front row seat to the Atlantic Ocean through a wall of glass and a two-story high wall covered in polycarbonate panels that borrows afternoon light from nearby skylights to help the space feel bigger. Overall, Gap Cove House maximizes energy efficiency and the surrounding majestic beauty to its fullest potential.

Next, we travel to Dobbs Ferry, NY to join homeowners Louise Pegg and Timothy Baker for a tour of their nearly 8,000 sq ft residence that is an eco-friendly architectural dream come to life. Nestled on a private cul-de-sac, this home has a interesting silhouette with its barreled rooftops and an easy flow between both the vast interiors and bucolic exteriors. Warm wooden accents and a floor-to-ceiling fireplace comprised of local limestone make this space, with its 25-ft high ceilings, feel nothing less than cozy. From a catwalk that runs along the side of the house to a rooftop lounge area with views of the Hudson River to a wall of windows that opens up out onto a terraced area , this spacious family home is functional, visually captivating, and inviting.

Finally, we drop by Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn for a tour of a net-zero townhouse, originally built in 1889, that offers a fresh take on modern day living in New York City. Architects Bobby Johnston and Ruth Mandl — principals of Co-Adaptive Architecture — fully embrace the ethos of a sustainable future in their work and their restoration of a 17th century residence into a space that is ready for whatever the future might bring certainly showcases it. Not only did they maximize their home to its full potential with modern upgrades, they also left in old-fashioned details that allowed them to preserve the architectural integrity and sprinkle in some personality. Through elegant and simple touches (including beautiful windows shrouded in exposed apple ply that insulate the home, mid-century modern walnut furnishings in the primary bedroom, a library sorted by color, and floors made out of Pennsylvania white oak) this passive home provides a quiet, comfortable place to unwind and be yourself — all while having minimal impact on the planet.

Full Show: Astounding Abodes Filled with Innovative Style | Open House TV

Join Open House host Sara Gore for a look inside five impeccable homes in New York and California that are filled with style, comfort, and innovative details.

First up: a stop at 111 West 57th St to tour a bespoke 3873 sq. ft. penthouse in midtown Manhattan, designed by interior designer Rafael de Cárdenas, that captures the glamour and excitement of New York City. From the impressive foyer with its eye-catching pieces that set the stage for the dynamism of the space to the dining room featuring a frosted table held up by plasters of rock formations as a base, and from the primary bedroom with its abstracted pastoral vibe, low-profile bed to maximize the wall space, and stainless steel platform for added edge to the Great Room with its magnificent views of Central Park, transparent coffee table decorated with books and solid ceramic vases, and muted sofa with pops of lime green color that capture the natural scenery outside, this 3-bedroom residence is filled with a blend of elegant yet unexpected touches. As Cárdenas himself best puts it: This apartment is my 1988 fantasy with its acid green and orange color palette and this view that I'm been waiting for — and it's all hurled into the future.

Care for a visit to sunny Beverly Hills, California for a tour of 2650 Benedict Canyon Drive led by real estate agent Matt Altman? This luxurious 16,390 sq. ft. architectural compound has it all: Expansive living area flooded with natural light? ✔️ Open-floor concept that seamlessly blends indoor/outdoor elements? ✔️ Floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the surrounding mountains? ✔️ This 7 bedroom, 11-bath estate truly combines unparalleled contemporary design with state-of-the art interiors and cinematic style.

After that, we return to the East Coast for a visit to the renowned Tribeca penthouse of lighting and furniture designer Lee Broom. A fitting celebration of his innovative style and elegant aesthetic (a modernist take on classic decor), this duplex residence, which occupies the fifth and sixth floors of a historic cast iron building in downtown NYC and serves as the designer’s residence and appointment-only showroom, features an abundance of natural light, flow, and unique creations inspired by the architecture of the 3,000 sq. ft. space as well as New York City itself.

We then fly back to the West Coast to join interior designer Tamarra Younis (founder of Union of Art) at one of her recent projects: a mid-century home nestled in the hills of Studio City — that she transformed for Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel and his family — that is as delightfully comfortable as it is creative with its custom-made furniture, bold pops of color, and collection of personal and vintage decor pieces.

Finally, we find ourselves in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn for a visit with architect Simon Arnolds. Arnolds was tasked with renovating a top-floor duplex in a former Romanesque mansion. He opened up the space to give it warmth and reflect modern sensibilities (namely, by removing the dividing walls, exposing the ceiling structure, and staining the exposed wood with black pigment and the steel a very dark gray), and in the process, uncovered plenty of of the original architectural details that he seamlessly integrated into contemporary design.

Full Episode: Capturing Personality through Interior Design | Open House TV

In this week's episode of Open House, our glamorous host Sara Gore guides us through five exquisite homes located in New York, California, and New Jersey.

First up: Welcome to 128 Central Park South, 15A. Andrianna Shamaris invites Open House viewers into her lovely New York City apartment, located in a pre-war building on the iconic “Billionaire’s Row.” Much like the renowned furniture designer’s eponymous showroom and studio in SoHo, this 2-bedroom abode showcases her love of travel and curated style and features high-beamed ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, and postcard-worthy views of Central Park. From the foyer that provides an immediate wow factor upon entry to the antique wooden furniture situated throughout the home to the tightly knitted shell inlay doors separating the great room from the minimalist-yet-functional kitchen, this inviting space — a collaborative renovation between Shamaris and architect Thomas Leeser — is a true treasure trove of rare pieces from around the world and effortlessly fuses an easygoing downtown vibe with classic uptown living.

After that: We join artist and creative director Bethany Brill in Costa Mesa to explore her dreamy family home that seamlessly uses plywood as the canvas for exploring materiality. Built in 1980 with an aesthetic that leans toward warm minimalism, this inviting California abode — inspired by the height and light of New York City lofts — features an abundance of calming colors, original art, and modular furniture that can easily be rearranged when the mood for change strikes.

Next: Step inside a sprawling home in the sky, complete with sweeping panoramic views of New York City. Interior designer Melanie Calder Russo shows us around a 6220 sq ft duplex that was a total dream project, largely in part to her client giving her free reign of the space. All they wanted was something chic yet comfortable and stylish yet inviting — and the rest was up to her. From the hammered bronze-paneled floating wall that greets you upon entering this apartment to the five rings of light in the dining area suspended over a handmade walnut-and-bronze dining table to help amp up the drama and emphasize the 22-ft floor-to-ceiling windows, it’s evident that this modern abode — originally, a combination of two separate units —features plenty of glamour, luxury, and bespoke touches.

We then zip over to the West Coast to 615 N Faring Road: a luxurious $45,000,000 resort-style estate in Los Angeles, California. Located within a private neighborhood in Holmby Hills, California, this 6-bedroom, 12-bath one-of-a-kind residence spans three levels and boasts 17661 square feet of contemporary architectural finishes, dramatic design, and exceptional amenities. Owner and developer Shawn Kohen leads us through three spacious levels that include: a formal living room with 14 ft. ceilings and a 3D stone fireplace; an entertainment space with a cozy movie theater and bar; a kitchen that features a breakfast seating area, a dual-service island, and bronze Venice stone touches; an outdoor oasis with a zero-edge infinity pool; a water-feature atrium that separates the home’s wellness center from its gaming area; and a rooftop deck with 3000 sq ft of relaxation space and gorgeous views.

We finish the episode with a trip to Montclair, NJ, where interior designer Andrew Suvalsky shows us around his labor of love: a renovated midcentury family home that maximizes light and flow. Thanks to a complete gut renovation, Suvalsky was able to utilize the space to its greatest potential. From the entry foyer with the Venetian plaster on the ceiling and the wild ceramic tiles that lead all the way to the kitchen, to the versatile living room that features a color scheme of bright blues, golden yellows, and black & white, and is filled with a variety of interesting light options (art lights, floral lamps, and recess lights in the ceilings to create unique lighting for different moods through the day), to the open kitchen and dining space with its walnut cabinetry, white accents, and whimsical-yet-moody wallpaper, this stunning abode strikes the perfect balance between being functional yet stylish.

HOME TOURS: Classic Meets Modern with 5 Spectacular Properties | Open House TV

In this all-new episode of Open House, host Sara Gore leads us through five spectacular properties located in California, New York, and Massachusetts that serve as prime examples of classic style meets contemporary design.

We kick off this episode with Ian Slater, who invites into a stunning duplex penthouse located in the heart of the West Chelsea Gallery District at 455 West 20th St — a condominium built by architect Alan Wanzenberg that’s situated within the grounds of the General Theological Seminary. Occupying 3,800 sq ft, this 4-bedroom residence seamlessly dovetails old-world charm with elegant upgrades and features custom millwork, gorgeous hardwood herringbone flooring, and ample natural light.

Next, architects Colin Flavin and Heather Souza, who take us inside the Wales House in Lincoln, Massachusetts — a 1958 modernist home that was originally designed by Henry Hoover and Walter Hill and respectfully seeps into the natural topography surrounding it with an entry stairway that floats over existing glacial stone. Tasked with updating this mid-century modern space for a growing family, the Flavin Architects duo focused on opening the interior of the home while incorporating innovative materials that honor the bones of the original architecture. Recent additions from this one-story renovation include a carport building, yoga studio with a wall of glass that opens into a sunlit courtyard, and main living area that embraces their firm's natural modernism design principles: open flow, ample light, and visual connection to the breathtaking landscape.

We then journey to Pasadena, California to join curator Jennifer Trotoux for a tour of the iconic Gamble House: a national landmark in the U.S. and classic example of American Arts & Crafts architecture. Built in 1908 by architects Greene and Greene as a winter escape for David and Mary Gamble, who lived in Cincinnati the rest of the year, this well-preserved masterpiece features many distinctive design elements and handcrafted details, including: beautiful joinery throughout the home; motifs such as the family crest and unique inlays that showcase a variety of special materials; an exterior that shows the Greene and Greene's interest in implementing Japan's timber architecture throughout Southern California; and a living room with an inglenook that places emphasis on the hearth, a library table, and a Redwood frieze that incorporates the theme of Japanese art and nature into the home.

Interior design Libby Langdon then invites Open House viewers into one of her recent projects: a bright and airy apartment in New York City's Tribeca neighborhood where she offers us some fun design tips and inspiration, including how to seamlessly incorporate different elements into one cohesive design. The real drama begins when you step off the elevator and into the foyer with its texture linear wallpaper and a circular motif. This curved theme continues in the dining room with barrel-back chairs and key places such as with the hardware on the console, base of the table, and the light crystal chandelier. And while the apartment is predominantly styled in neutral tones, Langdon infused pops of color throughout with large art to help make an impactful style statement.

As for the last stop in this week's episode? A regal estate in Burbank, California known as The Burbank Castle. Scott Rosenthal takes us on a tour of all 5,300 square feet of this stunning property that features unique architectural details such as hand-painted murals and an accordion glass elevator. With its beautiful, distressed beams and completely unobstructed panoramic views of The Valley, this Victorian Tudor-style home is filled with luxurious touches and custom craftsmanship, including a Venetian-painted ceiling in the dining room, stained glass windows in the bedroom that usher in an abundance of natural light, and a one-of-a-kind lion's den with two vantage points.

Full Episode: Sleek & Fashionable Homes | Open House TV

On this week's episode of Open House, host Sara Gore leads us through five gorgeous and unique homes located in California and New York.

First up: Sergio Mercado, an interior designer based in NYC, invites us into one of his recently completed projects: a beautiful townhouse located on a rare gated cobblestone street at Sutton Place with a private park and unobstructed river views. Inspired by the calm environment right outside, Sergio created a welcoming space for his clients that is equal parts serene and stylish — curated with low-profile furniture, curved accents, a three-stone fireplace, a balcony connected directly to the kitchen, luxurious textures and marble materials throughout, a top floor for an additional bedroom and seamless entertaining area, and an overall sleek, contemporary sense of design (including a dog spa for their rescue pups). All these subtle details create a fluid, comfortable aesthetic that make a significant impact.

Next, join lifestyle journalist Sydney Sadick as she walks us through her friend Liz Lange's gorgeous Upper East Side apartment. This full-floor family residence — an expression of the fashion designer's joyous personality and inspirational tastes — fuses style with whimsy through contrasting color and pattern, as well as modern furnishings. From the living room with its high-gloss Christian Dior gray walls, yellow throw pillows, and mirrors with metallic accents — to the dining room with its rich orange-tone walls, green velvet chairs, statement piece chandelier, and hodgepodge of fun table wear, unexpected pops of color and playful design are major themes as far as aesthetic goes in this delightful home. Other highlights? Liz's personal cocoon with its brown sofa, blue walls, and playful light fixture — as well as her tranquil bedroom suite with its spacious walk-in closet filled with stunning shoes and attire, including from pieces from the free-spirited brand Figue.

After that, interior designer Jennifer Farrell (along with her adorable pup Camper) for a tour of a beautifully transformed retreat in Calabasas California known as Calibu Vineyards. Once an abandoned Tudor-style manor, this 7263 sq ft abode now teems with light, style, and contemporary charm. It not only boasts a working vineyard and 19 rooms, but also the following wow factors: a vast living room featuring with soaring 20-ft ceilings with original molding, a hearth surrounded by a basket-weave tile, a set of basket swing chairs suspended from the ceilings for a touch of playfulness, and a John Richard chandelier that anchors the entire space; a wine tasting room and lounge with brushed gold fixtures, black cabinets with a matte finish, a seating area with warm and tactile materials, and a ping-pong table to evoke a sense of fun and sparkle; a private home theater with padded walls, 10 comfortable sofas, and a 120-inch screen; a spacious kitchen equipped with a 19-ft island wrapped in dolomite and an apron-front, fire-clay sink decorated with blue eucalyptus leaves and gold veins; and a serene yard with a casita that stores up to 80 bottles of wine and a dining area for enjoying al fresco meals under the stars with views of the Malibu Hills.

We then venture over to Los Angeles, California to join architect and designer Amanda Gunawan for a look around her thoughtfully crafted residence located in what was formerly the Nabisco factory. This bright and luxurious loft features an open-floor plan, colors and materials (including light wood and paper lanterns) that unify the space and evoke a sense of tranquility. Other points of interest include: large windows that allow for ample natural light to flow through, a collection of teas and ceramics from her travels; a neutral-colored kitchen with a huge counter to prep sushi (her favorite meal); a relaxing guest bedroom; a double-height living room that serves as the heart of the home; and a primary bedroom that was converted into a soft, tranquil sanctuary within the the industrial ruggedness of the building. Overall, the design is as harmonious as it is intentional.

To top of this episode, we travel to 18th street in Ditmas Park —a landmark district in Brooklyn — to explore a home that was a true labor of love for design enthusiasts Ken Alpert and Maytal Olsha. They completely reimagined their 1908 Victorian-style home into a bright modern retreat, which includes restoring the front porch to its original grandeur and renovating it from a 9-bedroom home into an open space — and renovating the space within as an ode to all that inspires them as artists and creators, including a principle oasis with vaulted ceilings that will make your jaw drop, brick chimney that forms an intimate wall between a Danish bookshelf and powder room; and kitchen that features unique Dutch cooking top burners (the first house in the US to do so).

Built in 1910, this 5-bedroom home, situated in the vibrant area of Lenox Terrance, has since been re-envisioned in ways that have implemented modern conveniences to make it livable in the 21st century while also preserving its original details, stunning craftsmanship, and classic DNA — including keeping the antique front door to moving the kitchen (with its room marble countertops, dining bar, top-end fixtures trophy appliances, and gorgeous walnut cabinets) to the middle of the space to make the most of the natural light that streams in from the open-plan dining area. From the herringbone wood plank floors to the soaring tall ceilings to the new copper plumbing, and from the jaw-dropping, well-scaled primary suite (complete with a massive pass-through closet, decorative fireplace, dual-sinked bathroom, and treetop views) to the multiple guest rooms to the serene private garden right outside, this beautiful townhouse seamlessly dovetails the past with the present.

Full Episode: La Dolce Vita Captured in 5 Homes in NYC, Connecticut & California | Open House TV

Join Open House host Sara Gore for another mesmerizing installment of style, refinement, and pizzazz on both the East and West Coast!

We kick off this week's episode inside classic New York City townhouse located on the Upper East Side. This 5500 sq. ft. space was built in 1891 and features a Renaissance Revival facade, high ceilings, arched doorways, and stunning millwork. We then head over to join agent Maria Manuche about twenty blocks away — just steps off Park Avenue — for a tour of another beautiful NYC townhouse that radiates the ethos of a mansion and preserves its original architectural details while also incorporating modern conveniences. Built in 1879, this 120 E 71st St residence also features stately limestone facade, sweeping staircase, 12 ft. ceilings, marble floors, and a modern 3-year renovation that consists of a large stained glass window, gas-burning fireplace, private garden ideal for dining al fresco, bedroom with a south-facing terrace, and a generous living space (five floors of 6600 sq. ft. to be exact).

We then fly over to the West Coast to Venice, California to visit the airy, sun-drenched, and music-filled home of interior designer and television personality Breegan Jane, who brought the entire Marina del Rey property, which was built around the late 1970s, down to its studs. With its custom finishes (including a kitchen that features the original hood vent, cooking range with silver-and-gold detailing, and a help-yourself beverage station that's wonderful for entertaining), personal touches (including a central deejay-ing booth, grand piano, glass gates that are child and pet-friendly to ensure a worry-free environment, and hybrid playroom and educational area that's imperfect by design to accommodate the creative learning process of two young children) and sleek, contemporary aesthetic, this nearly 3000 sq. ft. space is the epitome of chic comfort.

After that glorious trip, we head to another Upper East Side home: this time around, a delightful pied-à-terre designed by Tina Ramchandani. Her clients were inspired by a trip to Italy and expressed a desire for a space that captured an effervescent la dolce vita aesthetic; and Tina brought their dream to life with her relaxing yet luxurious aesthetic. From the welcoming foyer that features custom wallpaper that carries throughout the space, commissioned artwork that give the walls an extra pop, and a mobile light fixture that can be pointed in any direction, to the living room that includes a dynamic seating element to mimic a salon-style floor plan, curved furniture, multiple tables, and a rotating picture gallery crafted from mixed materials, this Manhattan getaway is teeming with unique artisanal decor.

Next up, we find ourselves in New Canaan, Connecticut where talented interior designer Corey Damen Jenkins takes us on a tour of his client's elegant home that he revitalized with some flair. We begin in the living room that is the epitome of comfortable meets stylish with its off-the-beaten-path wall brackets hanging over the lavender linen sofa (which serves as the anchor), lumbar pillows for some added energy and depth, and cocktail table dipped in a white lacquer paint that brings a lovely juxtaposition against the furniture. We also venture to other rooms in the home and come to discover that it's full of traditional details with a fun, fresh spin, including a fashion-forward breakfast nook that features oversized lighting, a farmhouse table that has been with the family for years, and classic chairs that have been remixed with a colorful pattern play.

We finish this week's episode by heading downtown to 483 West 22nd Street, right in the heart of Chelsea (approximately one block from the High Line), to join agent Benjamin Glazer for a tour of a newly renovated NYC townhouse. Built in 1901, this space has been modernized into a home full of natural light and gorgeous architectural attributes. With extraordinary attention to detail — including marble countertops in the kitchen that were handcrafted in the UK, a parlor with high ceilings and open-concept floor plan, skylight that illuminates the grand staircase, living room with a historic fireplace mantle and direct access to private garden, a sweeping primary bathroom that features a vanity clad in Belgian bluestone and bathtub comprised of Amazonian stone, and an office that faces Clement Clarke Moore Park — it's evident no expense was spared.

Full Episode: The Best of California Living & Design | Open House TV

Join Open House host Sara Gore for a look around some of the most stunning and luxurious homes in the sunny state of California.

First, we drop by a new estate in Bel Air, where we link up with Sally Forster Jones for a tour. This symphonic & geometrically stunning 18,500 sq. ft. home, located at 1116 Chantilly Road, nicknamed El Canto del Agua is beyond impressive with its modern elegance, masterful craftsmanship using choice materials, and remarkable architectural beauty. Inspired by art (including aspects of a Mayan pyramid), it exists in harmony with the natural Los Angeles fauna surrounding it. It also features a voluminous great room with a 30 ft. ceiling adorned with twinkling lights and views of a multi-tiered outdoor pool as its main focal points; an indoor cinema complete with stadium seating; a primary suite that offers a relaxing escape from the outside world with its centerpiece fireplace, ample space, and en-suite spa-inspired bathroom; a state-of-the art gourmand kitchen equipped with Italian cabinetry, a chef's preparation galley, and two main islands topped with live-edge red wood imported from the tropical rainforests of Brazil; a grand family room that's ideal for intimate gatherings and entertaining guests, thanks in part to its large bar and floor-to-ceiling glass wine cellar; a private gym and spa featuring a Roman bath; and a jaw-dropping backyard set against the picturesque hills with a patio area and terraced waterfall pool.

We then join design duo Kevin Isbell and Gianantonio Corna at their 1920s Spanish colonial home in the heart of Los Angeles. After relocating from NYC, they were in search of a place that embodied the vernacular they associated with California. One of the main changes they made was to open the shutters by breaking up some of the expanse of the wood on them to allow natural light to pour through and also offer views of the beautiful blue sky and palm trees right outside the window. The house also features a whimsical kitchen with an indoor garden-inspired corner; a sleek dining space that includes an octagonal vintage table and a stunning gallery wall adorned with art; and a calming bedroom that embraces natural imagery with its floral touches.

After that, Mary Fitzgerald, one of the stars of Selling Sunset, shows us around a private Calabasas compound owned by rapper French Montana (and previously by Selena Gomez). This residence mixes classic luxury with a playful ambience and is situated on 3 acres with over 8,600 square feet of impressive interiors. It also features a dining room perfect for hosting intimate dinner parties with its fireplace, dramatic chandelier, 20 ft. ceilings, and adjoining courtyard; an entertainment space with a pool table lounge area, terrace, and huge windows; an open-floor chef's kitchen that leads into an impressive living room; a sound-dampened home theater that's ideal for enjoying movies with friends; a private outdoor oasis with a cabana, pool & wood-burning pizza station; and a guest house that includes a music studio.

Next, we venture to 170 Spindrift Lane in Carmel to join Jonathan Spencer for a tour of the dramatic former hideaway of Kim Novak, star of Hitchcock's Vertigo. This 1,866 sq. ft. oceanfront property, features 2 bedrooms & 2 bathroom, as well as breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. It also includes a golden granite stone exterior that's meticulously stacked, a Bohemian-inspired living room with tall redwood ceilings, a green-granite fireplace, as well as stained glass windows and unique light fixtures commissioned by Novak back in the 1950s & '60s; a beautiful kitchen that was remodeled in the 2000s with granite countertops and high-end appliances; a primary suite with an attached bathroom; and a 1-br guesthouse that offers a front-row show to the rugged coastline right outside its windows.

We finish this special episode with a trip to Manhattan Beach to visit the glamorous surfer shack home of designer Lynn C. Stone, which she shares with her husband, four children, and adorable dog. This inviting residence — located only blocks from the beach — is lush in its sense of calm and coziness, thanks in parts to its soft textures, earthy vibes (including reclaimed wood, which was used to construct the fireplace mantel), and neutral tones throughout. From the moment you walk in, a view of the shoreline through a beautiful bay window captures your gaze. And with natural elements guiding your way through the space — including a succulent wall as the kitchen backdrop, a dining room with a natural wood table and sea creature-inspired chandelier, and a collection of colorful surfboards, it’s easy to feel right at home.
