80 hrs from London to Istanbul by Sleeper Train

Start speaking a new language in 3 weeks with Babbel : Get up to 65% OFF your subscription : HERE:

Today I’m taking taking the train from London all the way to Istanbul. Crossing 9 countries along the way on a variety of different sleeper trains, high speed trains and down right awful trains! Join me as I travel in the fastest possible time by using only the method of rail to get from one side of the continent of Europe to the other. Starting in London St Pancras, I’ll catch the Eurostar to Paris Gare Du Nord. Next up due to a delay from my previously booked train, I’ll grab a TGV over to Zurich, Switzerland. From there it’s the Austian Nightjet over to Vienna. Thanks to several lucky scrapes, I’m able to grab a 1st class train over to Budapest and catch up with my original itinerary to continue on to Arad, Romania. From Arad I’ll take one Romania’s most luxurious sleeper train over to Bucharest in order to catch my final train over to Turkey. This will be a couchette and it’s fare to say it’s a little rough around the edges.

As always let me know what you think, and if you’d do the same - to travel across Europe by sleeper train. It’s certainly possible with a little patience and a lack of sleep aha.

0:00 - Introduction
1:46 - Eurostar to Paris
4:06 - TGV to Zurich
7:18 - Nightjet to Vienna
10:10 - 1st Class to Budapest
14:39 - Sleeper train to Bucharest
19:22 - Couchette to Istanbul
26:56 - Turkish border

London to Africa by train, First Class 4K

-Patreon:

Many viewers ask about the total cost for this trip, it was around USD700 ONE WAY for tickets first class booked in advance and hotels 2-3 stars not more. No luxury and went in low season (November).

In high season (kids holiday) train tickets and hotels/airbnb are expensive and the trip might cost you almost double.

Eurail/Interrail infos:

If you're booking your journey in advance then buy your tickets directly on thetrainline.com for example.

If you buy the pass and use it to make early reservations (as the eurail advises on their website) the overall cost of the pass+reservations will be more than buying tickets directly, plus, you will be treated as a suspect second class citizen with your reservation marked as Must Show Pass. Another cons to Eurail/Interrail pass when making a reservation is that you have no way to choose your seat. I was always attributed the worst seats when I used it : usually in the 4-block seats facing strangers (often families with children).

If you try to use the pass few days earlier to your journey on high speed trains in Europe, well it says No Seats Available for pass holders. So in all cases the pass isn't worth it neither when booking early nor lately.

My advice is to book the tickets for all your journeys in advance while having a complete control on your attributed seats and saving money.

Rome, Florence, Venice, Lucerne, Paris, London by train

travel videos & photos at: with text, maps & links.
Rome to London by train, featuring the best of Italy, Switzerland, France and England. Jump to the different cities or watch it all: Rome at 2:34; Florence at 8:43; Venice at 16:53; Lucerne at 22:42; Paris at 27:50; London at 34:10; Comments at 44:39
Rome highlights include lunch at Campo dei Fiori and a walking tour to the Pantheon, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican Museum and St. Peters, best of Europe.
Florence is always listed in the world’s top-ten places to visit because of the Renaissance tradition we still see in the architecture, and the overall beauty of the city, not to mention great restaurants. Our walking tour with local guide brings us to the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and across the Arno River to Oltrarno. We also enjoy steak at il Porcospino, a favorite restaurant, with a most friendly waiter, Franco.
Venice is the city of dreams, a place like no other, with water for streets and boats for cars. Our several walking tours bring us into the heart of town including: Rialto, San Marco, the Basilica, hidden restaurants, and of course, a gondola ride.
Lucerne is an ideal town to visit on your trip through Switzerland, with a lovely pedestrian zone, historic buildings in the typical style, waterfront cafes and views, and nearby mountains including Titlis, which we ascend in this journey.
Paris, perhaps the world’s most beautiful city, including: TGV arrival, walk to the Opera, Chartier dinner, stroll to Rue Montorgueil, open-top bus tour, Versailles, the Louvre, Latin Quarter and more…
London, capital of England, is our globe-trotting filmmaker’s favorite city, and this summary demonstrates why this city is so compelling. We bring you all over the center of town, including Soho, Covent Garden, Regent Street, Oxford Street, Burlington Arcade, Fortnum & Mason, Changing the Guard, open-top bus tour, Inns of Court, The City and the Tower of London.
Comments: An ideal Europe trip should include the major cities of London, Paris and Rome, along with a look at Switzerland in Lucerne, and the other greatest of Italian places, Florence and Venice. We summarize the journey with comments from our travelers about their favorites and general feelings about the trip, travelling by train and staying in each city for several days.

My Journey To Rome - From London Heathrow in UK to Rome Fiumicino Airport in Italy

I'm off for another exciting adventure, this time it is Rome. Rome is the capital city of Italy and is famous for its fabulous food and also the landmarks such as the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Roman Forum, Pantheon and the Colosseum which I have visited them all and will appear in my channel soon!

Unlike My Journey to South Korea where I was driven to Heathrow airport by a taxi, I was driven to a Shuttle Bus Station in an ordinary car before taking a Shuttle Bus to Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. Not long after, I arrived at the shops, restaurant, bars and cafes. I wandered around the shops and looked at some of the very luxury stores downstairs. My gate was very close to the shops this time so I relaxed at a deck chair watching some planes flying by before I boarded a British Airways plane that soon landed at Fiumicino Airport at Italy. Couple of Moving Walkways, I soon arrived at a train station and boarded a Leonardo Express Train that arrived at Termini Station at Rome. Passing some shops in Termini Station, I was walking along the city streets of Rome. Exciting! Very soon, I arrived at IQ Hotel where I stayed for 3 nights.

Thank you for watching this video and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

UK to Italy by Train including the Bernina Express

On Friday 23rd September we caught a train from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire and travelled all the way to Lake Como in Italy. We travelled from Holmes Chapel to London (change at Crewe) then overnight in London. On Saturday morning we travelled to Paris, had lunch then continued to Zurich. We spent two nights in Zurich before heading to Chur for the Bernina Express. The Bernina Express train was wonderful, a magical train ride through the alps to Northern Italy. We arrived at Tirano, had lunch then continued to Lake Como (change at Monza). We planned our trip with the helpful information from the man at seat 61.
