Jurassic World in Canada?! FOSSIL HUNTING IN THE ALBERTA BADLANDS | Canada Road Trip

We crossed into a new province of Alberta, and so far it has NOT disappointed. Alberta is super diverse in terms of landscape, and one of the unique places to visit in Alberta is the Badlands. Entering this desert landscape is impressive, unique, and almost hard to believe after driving the flat plains through Manitoba & Saskatchewan.

We had a fantastic time exploring all things dinosaurs, from seeing the most giant dinosaur in the world in Drumheller to visiting the world-famous Royal Tyrrell dinosaur museum, which was crazy impressed with the fossils inside. We even checked out the super unique Hoodoos, and stayed in a vintage style Walmart, which probably had some of the best sleeping views yet!

We then road tripped onto the Dinosaur Provincial Park where we stayed overnight so we could explore all the different trails in the park.

It's super awesome because there's a chance you might even see a fossil whilst walking (ovi you can't take them!)

We highly recommend this part of Canada for a unique road trip!

We hope you enjoyed this video...

We Found A DINOSAUR Leg In New Mexico!

#dinosaurs #fossils #entertainment #subscribe #travel #outthere #newmexico

This week we journeyed to the faraway planet Mars!

Ok maybe not, but at least it really looked like Mars. Or Tatooine. We actually went to the Bisti/De Na Zin Wilderness area in northwestern New Mexico; a hot spot for dinosaur fossils from the Cretaceous period (that’s a really really really long time ago. Like millions and millions of years ago).

AND WE FOUND DINOSAUR BONES!!!!! Or DID we….???? You’ll actually have to watch to find out. But we did lick a lot of stuff, get caught in a desert sand storm, and bake in the New Mexican sun for at least 9 hours.

A BIG thanks to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science for hosting us and talking with us about fossils and dinosaurs. They were SO welcoming and very knowledgeable! Check it out if you’re ever in Albuquerque. They have a life-size animatronic replica of the Bisti Beast, a Tyrannosaurus found in the Badlands in 1997. And it roars!

I Found JURASSIC FOSSILS (150 Million Years Old) | Fossil Hunting in Bavaria, Germany

I went Fossil Hunting in a quarry located in Bavaria, German!!
Last time I went fossil hunting was about 15 years ago. Back then, I really enjoyed this experience, so I decided to repeat this. So I went to the Altmühltal in Bavaria and tried my luck to find some cool fossils, dating back 150 million years. I didn't quite find some DNA to breed dinosaurs, like in Jurassic Park, but we still dug out some cool Jurassic fossils including amonites, fishes, feather stars and crabs. We went to two different quarries to search for the coolest Jurassic fossils.
As always I hope, you enjoyed this video, as much as I did filming this stuff!

Hunt for GIANT AMMONITES | DINOSAUR BONES Found | Search for Fossils

Hello everyone, my name is Ilya, and I'm from Russia. Few people know, but I have an interesting hobby - paleontology. In this video I want to show you the search for fossils on the Volga River. In the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, there was a huge sea here, inhabited by ammonites, belemnites, as well as terrible marine dinosaurs...

The Best Megalodon Tooth Hunting Site I Ever Found

I don't throw around the word best especially when it comes to hunting megalodon teeth because there have been so many good spots during my 30+ years of collecting, but I feel confident in using it here. I can't believe how lucky I got finding this spot. It was completely untouched and the bottom of the dig was just at the top of the fossil bearing formation. That meant all I had to do was look down in some spots to find teeth, and in the rest, I only had to dig off a foot or two of overburden. There were bones everywhere which is the tell-tale indicator of megalodon and other fossil shark teeth. It didn't take long to dig one out, then another, and another. Then when I walked on the piles after heavy rain there were more big teeth. All together I was able to collect this site for about a week and I found 17 complete megalodon teeth in that short amount of time. I'm not planning on retiring anytime soon, but it is going to be very difficult to top this spot. Summerville, I love you!

We Found FOSSILS At Badlands National Park!!

So earlier in the year we made the top 10 in a Gear Junkie contest to go on our next big adventure. Even though we didn't win, we still went on our adventure and actually found fossils at Badlands NP in South Dakota. Honestly, still a little shocked that we actually found something.

True OVERviews-Bisti Wilderness Fossils

On Thursday, October 29th, the New Mexico National Guard in conjunction with the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science and the Bureau of Land Management airlifted the full skeleton of a baby Pentaceratops (the first ever found) and the skull of an adult Pentaceratops from BLM land south of Farmington, NM. Here is a bird's eye view of the operation.

So, Badlands National Park is kind of a unique landscape. People come out here in the Western South Dakota, they see an ocean of grass and all of a sudden there's this dramatic topography change so they get out into this park and kind of experience an alien world.

The Badlands geology kind of skips around in time a little bit. Our lowest layers that are exposed in the western side of the park in the wilderness Area is part of an ancient sea floor. So that tells us we were below sea level. Well eventually what's going to happen at when the dinosaurs are going to die out and after, there's a lot of mountain building events and this all raises the Midwest above sea level. Well that Seaway will drain away and leave a nice lowland basin for other sediment to fill in later, so that kind of sets the stage for the Badlands.

So there’s quite a few things people can do out here. Lots of exploring, they can hike pretty much anywhere they want, we're an open hike park. We try to provide an accessible experience for everybody and with what I think are some of the most impressive views in the area we have areas set up that are wheelchair accessible. Door Trail has a boardwalk Fossil Exhibit Trail our outdoor kind of Natural History Trail. A lot of the signage there has the text but it also has a braille companion text with tangible replicas of fossils people can touch and feel and get a sense of size and shape and texture. People can go camping out here. They can take residents in one of our regular campgrounds. People can go back country camping. As long as they can get out a half mile from any road or trail and aren't visible, they can camp anywhere they want.

There's the large charismatic wildlife, there's bison, there's bighorn sheep, prairie dog towns that are pretty massive. You can find predators: coyotes, bobcats, badgers. Wildlife here is kind of used to vehicles, traffic and people but they are still wild animals.

The Visitor Center has a lot going on. There are exhibits kind of going over the natural history and the cultural history of the area. We're the ancestral home of the Lakota, which still live here, they’re our neighbors, they’re our partners. We have evidence of Native American inhabitants going back about 11,000 - 12,000 years when people were hunting mammoth. We have a gift shop where people can get their mementos or buy books. We have in the summer a working paleontology lab. So we have a preparation lab for fossils and our paleontologists are cleaning up these fossils so they can be used for research study and we often display some of the more interesting ones in this room. Anyone is allowed to come into this room and see paleontology in action.

We're not considered a destination park, we're kind of considered a drive-by park, where people are on their way to or from sites like Mount Rushmore or Yellowstone, but I think word has gotten out of how unique and incredible we are and when people get here they sometimes want to stay here.
