I'm back in Ethiopia for the 3rd time because it's one of my favorite countries in Africa! I am now exploring a city in the North called Gondar, and little did I know that I'd come across thousands of fellow Jews.
As you might know by now, I enjoy connecting with Jewish communities around the world, like I've done in Afghanistan, Yemen, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Philippines among many others -- but this experience has been the most eye-opening because of how alive the Jewish culture is. Some 4,000 Ethiopian Jews are here, studying torah, keeping Shabbat and learning Hebrew.
If this is not a fascinating story, then I am not sure what is! Join me as I take you inside the world of the forgotten Jewish tribe of Ethiopia.

Is this a popular sport in Africa? Is Skateboarding a popular sport in Africa? In this Ethiopia travel vlog I visit a very unique sport program in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Henok Yetbarek, Michael Baheru, Ruel Desta, Babure ‘Babu G’ Teferi, Yeabkal Abraham and Yared Gobezieare the founders of @EthiopiaSkate , a grassroots program which is bringing the love for skateboarding to Ethiopia and Africa, a place that had little understanding of what this sport was before they introduced it to their nation. Their passion for skateboarding is helping young, underprivileged kids in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia find a purpose and giving them an activity to keep them off the streets. They will make skateboarding a popular sport in Africa. Harar(Harer) qui est une ville historiquement riche, est située à 523 km à l’est d’Addis Abeba et à 360 km de Djibouti. Juchée stratégiquement à 1855 m d’altitude à 1 855 m d’altitude sur une colline de granit dans l’escarpement oriental de la vallée du Rift, elle domine la grande plaine désertique du Danakil au nord et les plaines des Somali au sud.Point de rencontre entre différentes cultures et important carrefour commercial, Harar s’entoura, au 16ème siècle, d’un rempart de pierre de 4 mètres de haut pour se protéger des raids incessants des peuplades voisines. Sa forme est souvent comparée à celle d’une poire. Les maisons bordées de murs élevés, derrière lesquels on devine de petites cours ombragées de vigne, sont bâties en pierre ou en tuf rempli de végétaux fossilisés.L’histoire passionnante d’Harar, son renom de quatrième ville sainte de l’islam, son importance commerciale au 19ème et son occupation successive par les Égyptiens, les Italiens et les Amhara, ont amené de fortes influences extérieures, attisé la curiosité des voyageurs européens et favorisé le mélange des différents groupes ethniques.

Synopsis:
Three hours outside of Addis Ababa, a bright 14-year-old girl is on her way home from school when men on horses swoop in and kidnap her. The brave Hirut grabs a rifle and tries to escape, but ends up shooting her would-be husband. In her village, the practice of abduction into marriage is common and one of Ethiopia's oldest traditions. Meaza Ashenafi, an empowered and tenacious young lawyer, arrives from the city to represent Hirut and argue that she acted in self-defense. Meaza boldly embarks on a collision course between enforcing civil authority and abiding by customary law, risking the continuing work of her women's legal-aid practice to save Hirut's life.
