Drones over Sedona, Arizona--November 2015
A drone trip to Sedona this Summer was shortened by bad weather, so I was determined to return and enjoy the scenery with some Fall colors.
The first flight of the first day was almost the last for my poor Inspire Pro drone. I almost parked it in a tree far across a canyon from the Midgley Bridge.
It was that old classic joke: Step further back, photographer! Get everyone in the picture. Drones have no camera looking to the rear. I surely wish they would add that feature!
Having escaped disaster on that first flight, I spent a few days with Indian Summer sunshine and mostly calm breezes.
Sedona is certainly one of the most naturally colorful towns in America. Many of its red sandstone wonders rise from the desert floor and tower above us. that is natural drone territory.
My trip ended November 13th. Today is the 17th and a blizzard is hitting Denver. Summer is over!

019 Flying drone over Arizona Desert in 4K
Early in 2019, my DJI Mavic Air did a flyaway into Lake Michigan due to a defective controller. Since I replaced it, I've been extremely cautious about flying it as I got my confidence back.
Later in the year I was able to take the new drone and fly it in some interesting places. This video is a combination of a few short flights in the Arizona desert. I'm always so thankful when my drone returns to me after a flight! In 4k.

Drones over Meteor Crater and Sedona, Arizona
In July of 2015 the weather began sunny, but deteriorated over the next few days. This video begins at Meteor Crater, travels South into Sedona and then explores some of its famous formations and attractions with the help of the DJI Inspire 1 and Phantom drones.
The drones allow us to cover a lot of ground that would be very slow if hiking. We can fly toward large formations and hover in the air near them. I take care to fly where it is legal and doesn't intrude on other people.

This video was done 2-3 days around New Years Day 2015 after a huge
snowstorm in northern Arizona. Average temp in the morning was 12-20
degrees during flights.
