15 Best Places to Visit in Belarus
At first glance, Belarus may not sound like the most exciting of destinations, but if you look closely there is much to see and do in this landlocked country that counts Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, and Ukraine as neighbours. As over 40% of the country is forest, expect lush vegetation and picturesque countryside, as well as an abundance of local wildlife including rare European bison. You can take a trip back in time at the numerous forts and castles in Belarus, as well as keeping up with the more modern side of things in the buzzing capital city of Minsk.

Americans First Time in Minsk, Belarus - Solo Travel

I've always been curious to visit Minsk, but never went. But this time I was going to be nearby and started to do research on how to visit. I found out I had to fly into and out of Belarus and could only stay a maximum of 30 days. I couldn't cross the border by land, so the only way was to fly.

So I decided to stay 4 nights and squeeze it in between Odessa, Ukraine and Tallinn, Estonia. I rented an apartment on Airbnb, great location downtown, not too pricey, a perfect place to be able to see the city easily.

During my time there I met some locals and some travelers, ate some great food and desserts, walked around the city many times, and took 2 free walking tours with Free Walking Tours Minsk.

Overall it was a fun time and I really enjoyed the city, Minsk is definitely a place I would return to someday.

The critical travel guide to MINSK, BELARUS. Short animation

In this short travel guide we'll look into Minsk, Belarus. You'll see the main sights of Minsk from amazing Belarusian architecture, the Minsk metro to the sterile and strange feeling of the perfect cleanliness of Minsk's streets. This travel guide also looks at Minsk's history (poor Minsk!), and how to travel into Belarus. Minsk is a great place to visit; I highly recommend you travel there one day!

Get to Know Minsk

Belarus is slowly opening up to Western tourists, with a visa waiver program that now gives you 30 days visa-free entry to the country as long as you arrive and depart by air from Minsk International Airport. Minsk has a lot to offer. It's like an alternate reality, a what-if for its neighboring countries. Officially Europe's last dictatorship, it's spotlessly clean, very safe and truly fascinating for anyone who wishes they'd had a chance to peek behind the iron curtain back in the 80s.

We were quite taken with the city on our last visit there and it's definitely worth a few days on a longer trip in Eastern Europe. In this video we visit the main sights and have a little fun along the way.

Hi friends. This video about Belarus. See more on same playlist.

Belarus (/bɛləˈruːs/; Belarusian: Беларусь, IPA: [bʲɛlaˈrusʲ]), officially the Republic of Belarus (Belarusian: Рэспубліка Беларусь, Russian: Республика Беларусь), formerly known by its Russian name Byelorussia or Belorussia (Russian: Белоруссия), is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe bordered by Russia to the northeast, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest. Its capital and most populous city is Minsk. Over 40% of its 207,600 square kilometres (80,200 sq mi) is forested. Its major economic sectors are service industries and manufacturing. Until the 20th century, different states at various times controlled the lands of modern-day Belarus, including the Principality of Polotsk (11th to 14th centuries), the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Russian Empire.

In the aftermath of the 1917 Russian Revolution, Belarus declared independence as the Belarusian People's Republic, which was conquered by Soviet Russia. The Socialist Soviet Republic of Byelorussia became a founding constituent republic of the Soviet Union in 1922 and was renamed as the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic (Byelorussian SSR). Belarus lost almost half of its territory to Poland after the Polish–Soviet War of 1919–1921. Much of the borders of Belarus took their modern shape in 1939, when some lands of the Second Polish Republic were reintegrated into it after the Soviet invasion of Poland, and were finalized after World War II. During WWII, military operations devastated Belarus, which lost about a quarter of its population and half of its economic resources. The republic was redeveloped in the post-war years. In 1945 the Byelorussian SSR became a founding member of the United Nations, along with the Soviet Union and the Ukrainian SSR. The parliament of the republic proclaimed the sovereignty of Belarus on 27 July 1990, and during the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Belarus declared independence on 25 August 1991. In 2000, Belarus and Russia signed a treaty for greater cooperation, forming the Union State.

Belarus Tourism Best Places to Visit in Belarus 2018

Belarus Tourism Best Places to Visit in Belarus 2018-tourist attractions in belarus
Belarus is a beautiful Eastern Europe country with a rich culture and interesting history. Sharing a border with Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, the tourist attractions in Belarus are extremely diverse.

With more than 100,000 tourists visiting the country every year, there are plenty of things to do in Belarus to fill your time. We have compiled a list of the top 15 places to visit in Belarus. Whether are planning a short getaway or preparing for a lengthy stay, there are plenty of opportunities to surround yourself in the rich history and culture of this unique country.

1 Brest Hero Fortress Memorial Complex
A memorial complex erected in the city of Brest that stands on the site of the original fortress, Brest Fortress is dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The site features conserved parts of the original ruins of the fortress as well as ramparts, and there are also modern art installations including memorial structures that stand on site. The fortress is built in the shape of a star, and there is a central island in the centre on which the main citadel of the fortress sits, that has been naturally carved out by the surrounding Bug River.
2 Minsk
The capital city of Belarus has a lot to offer visitors. Head to Independence Square which at 7 hectares is one of the largest public squares in all of Europe, and is perfect for an evening stroll to take in the pretty water fountains and dancing lights. Also not to be missed is Independence Avenue that acts as the main artery of the city, and has cafes, restaurants, and shopping opportunitiess, as well as clubs and music events. Minsk is also known for its parks and gardens, so don’t miss a trip to the Gorky Central Children’s Park that features fairground rides as well as an observation wheel that provides stunning views over the city.
3 Berestyle Archaeological Museum
Berestyle Archaeological Museum is one of the more unique museums in all of Belarus, and stands on an important archaeological site outside of the city of Brest that dates from the 13th century. The site is that of a former wooden town that was excavated in the 1960s and turned into a museum in the 1980s when a class roof was placed over the site. Visitors to the area can observe 28 traditional log cabins in addition to 1400 period artefacts from the region that give an amazing glimpse of life in Belarus in the days of old.
4 Nesvizh Castle
The Mir Castle isn’t the only castle in the area that will leave you amazed and enlightened by Eastern European history. The Nesvizh Castle is another highly-rated tourist attraction. It is considered one of the most beautiful examples of Polish castles. The Nesvizh castle belongs to the aristocratic Radziwill family and serves as one of the family’s residential palaces.

It is also a museum and welcomes tourists with daily tours of the castle and grounds. However, it has drawn sharp criticism from some because of ongoing construction to the site.

???????? MINSK, BELARUS | Europe's Most UNDERRATED City? | MINSK First Impressions

*I have a new WEBSITE! MINSK, BELARUS - Welcome back! If you saw the last video, you'll know I ended up stranded in Sweden after leaving Serbia (due to the global pandemic). I had to find a new place to live. That place was Minsk, the capital of Belarus!

I had always planned to visit Minsk for a brief visit. Previously, I had been to other ex-Soviet countries such as Kazakhstan, Kygryzstan, Moldova and Ukraine so I was excited to see what Belarus had to offer. Many have preconceptions of ex-Soviet countries that they are a) Russia and b) grey and miserable, full of Soviet architecture.

In this video I cover some of my first impressions of Minsk in relation to architecture and people as well as checking out some of the sights such as the Bolshoi Theatre, the National Library and even the former home of Lee Harvey Oswald. But the main message of the video is around hope, We are all in a difficult place due to the pandemic. We have to have hope that we will get out the other side.

An important note - at the time of filming there were no restrictions in relation to quarantine, lockdown or self isolating. The only recommendation is social distancing. Despite this, I am generally home 6 days out of 7 working with one trip to the shop or a short walk every day. I get that many of you are in quarantine but felt it was important to show some normality and hope in my videos!

MUSIC - (all Epidemic Sound)
Gold Among the Sand - Trevor Kowalski (intro and outro)
Light Em Up - Daniel Gunnarsson (Minsk montage)
Wide Eyes - Tape Machines (connecting montages)

Q & A. Is it safe to visit Belarus? ????????

I dispel a lot of the myths about Belarus especially from the Western MSM.

Where can Americans travel internationally during covid19? Episode 10; Belarus ????????!

There are some unique restrictions in place to enter Belarus. Minsk is a really cool city, with awesome architecture.
