Toughest Journey in my life Harrier/ Scorpio OFF-ROADING to Lada
Lada is the most interior Administrative Circle office/town in East Kameng District Arunachal Pradesh. Sajolang, Nyishi, Puroik are settlers of this area. Road to Lada is still under construction so driving during summer is very tough and life threatening.
In August 2021, road has connected the Lada for first time with rest of the world. Lada area has huge potential of tourism with deep gorge Pachuk river, Kangte peak, inaccessible lakes, wildlife etc.
East Kameng Social & Cultural Welfare Organization, EKSWCO being the prominent organization of the district has organized their 43rd Foundation Day at Lada w.e.f. 22 to 24 October 2021.
All four MLAs of the district, elites has participated in the event. Social and infrastructure development, wildlife, communal harmony are some of serious discussion in the three days long programme. Local area organising management was Chaired by Feshom Sekong and Bharat Sonam, EKSWCO Chairman, Boru Sangyu General Secretary, EKSWCO.

Umling La Pass in Ladakh, at an altitude of 19024 Feet or 5798 Mtrs, became the highest motorable pass in the world dethroning the Mana Pass in Uttarakhand and the road to Uturuncu in Bolivia when BRO opened this road to civilians in 2017. In 2021, Umling Pass received the Guinness World Record certificate for being the highest motorable road in the world.
Many adventure enthusiasts have already visited this coveted pass last year and added this ultimate accolade of visiting the highest motorable road in the world in their adventurous life. In today's article, I am going to write in detail how you can plan a trip to Umling La pass which lies nearby Hanle village in Ladakh.

The 54 km long road passing through Umling La Pass connects the villages of Chisumle and Demchok and took six years to be built by BRO under Project Himank. Hats off to the whole team of Project Himank, who took this daunting task of building up the road at such a staggering altitude. BRO had to give special training to all the workers for the construction of this road. Every hour workers had to come down to acclimatize themselves.
i cannot imagine the hard work undergone but well the result is we now have the highest motorable road in the world in India. As Umling La pass is near to the Hanle village, you will be spending a couple of days in Hanle and hence, will be exploring it as well.
In Hanle village, apart from witnessing the breathtaking beauty of the cold desert, you can visit Hanle Monastery as well as the second-highest optical observatory in the world with an installed telescope of about 2.01 meters (6.5 feet) diameter. Hanle observatory is operated by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru and is situated at an altitude of 4500 Mtrs. The details of making a trip to Hanle is detailed out in my comprehensive travel guide of Hanle.
Umling La pass is very near to the Line of Actual Control between India and China. Hence, one needs to get the inner line permit to visit this region including Hanle.
As of 2022, permits are not required for domestic tourists to travel anywhere in Ladakh including Umling La pass. You only need to pay the environment/green/ecology fee and carry a receipt (soft copy or hard copy) of the payment. Towards the end of the 2021 season, authorities/army check-posts did allow few people to travel to Umling La pass. Starting in this season 2022, few people have already completed the journey to Umling La Pass successfully and no one is stopping tourists from visiting Umling La pass.
However, you should note that it all depends on your travel days if the army is allowing people or not during that time. They sometimes allow and sometimes restrict the movement of civilians in these border areas. It is highly likely that you will be allowed but then there is a little risk that they might not.
You can pay the Ladakh environment fee online now and do not need to get any stamps at the tourist information center at Leh. However, to get the permit for Hanle, you will have to visit the DC office in Leh and get the permit stamped as per the old method of getting the permit. Carry the printout and visit Leh DC office to get the permit for Hanle. No permit is needed now for Hanle or Umling Pass as well. In case you are visiting Umling La pass from Demchok side, please prepare the permissions from the army for which you will need some good contacts in the army to get the permission.
Well, the region of Changthang around Hanle and Umling La pass is very scenic but that at the same time it is harsh, unforgiving and difficult to survive, especially in winters. As it is at a very high altitude, the lack of oxygen makes survival difficult if your body does not acclimatize to its high altitude. Umling La pass altitude is 19024 feet which comes under an extremely high altitude range.
Hence, one needs to plan his/her journey extremely carefully to acclimatize properly and reduce the chances of acute mountain sickness. I highly recommend that you travel slowly and acclimatize properly before making the trip to Umling La pass.

JISPA CAMPING - its one of the most popular places while travelling to let via Manali. people always prefer to stay here while going for leh because jispa is very beautiful and untouched place in Lahaul valley . we have done self camping in this video after taking permission from locals of jispa and they allowed us to pitch our camp in their private place for just 200 rs per day.
we stayed jispa for two days and it was one of the best camping experience we have ever had.

Manali to Padum (Part-2) || First Tata Harrier at Gonbo Rangjon ????
So it’s our third day and we started our journey from Manali towards Padum. And here is an amazing fact too. Our Tata Harrier is the first Tata Harrier to visit Zanskar Valley (you will come to know more about this in the next part of this vlog) ????.
You might have heard a lot of seasoned lovers of Ladakh complain that the earlier beauty of the region and the challenging factor has been diluted. The primary reason quoted, of course, is the travel plans of MANY including Ladakh as a “tourist destination”. Of course, better connectivity, easier roads, and many amenities along the way have made it easier for throngs of tourists to travel.
However, our beloved BRO never disappoints. A brand new route connecting Manali to Leh via Zanskar has been constructed and most of the route is near completion or ready state. Some patches might not be developed. And, somewhere the road barely exists, if at all. However, that is the real charm of Ladakh road diaries and this route DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.
If you’re looking for sheer isolation and stunning beauty synonymous with Ladakh, then I urge you to explore this wonderfully beautiful route. Yes, the journey is long. Yes, it will take you through many tough patches. But, will it be worth it? Absolutely, without a doubt!

Those familiar with the Manali Leh highway will have no trouble deciphering this route. This journey follows the regular route, albeit, with the new addition of the Atal Tunnel, saving us precious time and ensuring easy access to the journey ahead
The moment you enter the Lahaul Valley, right after the end of the 10 KM stretch of Atal tunnel, you are transported into a new world with new vistas. You will not be disappointed and each turn, each angle is pretty beyond belief.
I have covered detailed places worth exploring along the Sissu, Tandi, Keylong stretch. One thing to keep in mind here is the importance of Tandi. Tandi is the last stop on the Manali – Leh highway with a petrol pump. So ensure you fill up your tanks (and carry fuel with you, if on a motorcycle) for the remainder of the journey ahead. However, you’ll have access to one more petrol pump when you move from the Zanskar side!

- we have travelled from jai valley to padri top ( JAMMU & KASHMIR )
- the journey was very amazing as exploring Jammu was something different
- jai valley is very beautiful and perfect place to do safe camping
- jai valley to padri top : 65 km ( 2:15 hours ) drive
- padri top connects jammu and Himachal
- I witnessed fresh snow fall for the first time in my life
- roads were in good condition but our harrier did well on off road patches also..

CAR CAMPING - In this video we had done camping in our Tata harrier and we had shown how to setup any car for car camping so that everybody can enjoy car camping in their car in mountains or anywhere else.
TATA HARRIER - For harrier lovers this video is very helpful as I have shared my car camping experience with you guys and you can also set up bed in harrier for sleeping and other purposes if you guys are travelling.
WHERE TO PITCH CAMP :-
You can not pitch a tent in a notified forest/sanctuary / national park without permission. Besides that, if you are on a road trip with a tent safety is also a big issue so rather than pitching anywhere it is always safe to pitch a tent near habitation and not go for a very isolated place.
