First Thoughts on Russia | We Spent 48 Hours in St Petersburg, Russia
After our insane Russian visa nightmare we are so glad to arrive here in St Petersburg...these are our first thoughts on the country.

We have 48 hours in St Petersburg so we are going to show you as much as possible to do in this incredible city which started off by working out the Metro systems...going to the deepest one in Russia - Admiralteyskaya station. It's so cost effective to use the Metro system, less than a $1 and there's no zones - jump on and just jump off when you are done.
Our first stop was obviously coffee, so we went to Pyshechnaya which is a cafe set up like an old soviet style restaurant where all they sell is cheap coffee and one style of donut.
Next up we headed to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood which is a breathtaking church best described as a gingerbread house - and if you think outside looks stunning - wait till you go inside and see the 1000's of mosaics lining the walls.
To find the best views in St Petersburg we recommend you head to St Isaac's Cathedral.
If you are looking for some of the best museums in the world - head to the Hermitage Museum (the Winter Palace) and also head to Catherines Summer Palace - both very grand and opulent.
If you want to try some Russian food - we recommend Советское кафе Квартирка - which is an old soviet style restaurant set up like an old soviet home. Amazing food - we recommend you try

This was my first time visiting Saint Petersburg Russia.
It was a great day in Russia apart from the cold weather but it was not as cold as last week in Boston which was minus 10. Saint Petersburg is a city with lots of history and many things to do in Saint Petersburg.
Saint Petersburg is Russia's second-largest city after Moscow, with 5 million inhabitants in 2012, part of the Saint Petersburg agglomeration with a population of 6.2 million (2015). An important Russian port on the Baltic Sea, it has a status of a federal subject (a federal city).
There are many things to do in Saint Petersburg Russia and if you are wondering on what to do in Saint Petersburg these are a few places to visit.

Hi guys!
It was a very spontaneous little trip to the cultural capital of Russia.
This is a second-most populous city with a population nearly 7 million people. Just compare in Moscow there are around 16 million.
I have never been in this city though my friends were there several times.
I like St. Petersburg, in Russian it’s called Санкт –Петербург, Петербург or we just say Питер.
The first place we decided to visit was Saint Isaac’s Cathedral Исаакиевский собор.
It is the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral in the city and one of the highest cathedrals in the world.
The most highest is Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow, I mentioned about this one in my previous video. Check it out!
We went by The State Hermitage Museum (in Russian we say ЭРМИТАЖ)
The second place was The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood (Russian: Церковь Спаса на Крови) is one of the main sights of St. Petersburg.
This church looks like St Basil’s cathedral on Red Square( Собор Василия Блаженного на Красной площади). The video about this one is here . Watch it!
The third place was the main and the biggest church in Petersburg Kazan Cathedral (Казанский собор).
TO sum up, Peter is a unique city which I recommend to visit!

Inside The Brutal Courtyards of Saint Petersburg, Russia
St Petersburg, Russia is famous for it's significant architecture, embankments, rivers and canals, bridges. But also known for it's specific courtyards of the historical buildings. They are different from courtyards of the rest of Russia because of specific features of architecture in Saint Petersburg.
Peter The Great, the founder of the city, in terms of economy of the land, commanded to construct all buildings next to each other with no spaces between them - solid facades. Because of this, most of courtyards of the historical buildings are surrounded by the walls. In Russian language such a courtyards called дворы-колодцы (courtyard-wells). Because their form reminds the form of water wall. In general.
