Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

The IRAQ the MEDIA WON'T SHOW YOU ???????? | Iraqi Kurdistan Erbil Vlog

In April, 2023 I traveled to Iraqi Kurdistan to see what it was like there... on the ground. My whole life, the media has demonized Iraq, but I wanted to know if there was a different narrative.. the Iraq the media won't show you on TV every night. Let's see how wrong they were about Iraqi Kurdistan.

Exploring ERBIL, Capital of IRAQI KURDISTAN ھەولێر

I spend the day exploring Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, an autonomous region of Iraq. I wander the Qaysari Bazaar, sampling some of the city's best kebab, washing it down with some tea in an authentic old cafe. I head inside Erbil's famous citadel, before finishing up with a stroll down the buzzing Iskan Street.

First 24 hours in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, trying local food, hanging out with the Kurds & enjoying their hospitality.

After traveling Turkey from West to East for 2 months me and Adelia looked decided to go to Iraqi Kurdistan, the autonomous region located in northern Iraq. The country that just a few years ago was devastated by wars and destruction. So we got curious, what does it look like in 2022?

First day in Kurdistan Iraq, ERBIL | EP23

After a week of working in UAE, me and my boyfriend Flo made to the Kurdish part of Iraq. Its capital city of Erbil is an over 6000 years old metropolis especially characterized by its citadel in the middle of the city. Erbil became an integral part of the Assyrian civilization which by today is still hosting ethnic Assyrians in the Kurdistan region.
We decided to stay a couple of days in the city and then do a roadtrip around the region.

Exploring Erbil | Solo in IRAQI KURDISTAN

Getting off the beaten path is the way to go! What an INCREDIBLE place in the world! People thought I was crazy for going to Iraqi Kurdistan but what more can I say. I’m not left speechless often but Iraqi Kurdistan did just that. The hospitality and friendliness of the people here was absolutely amazing! Traveling solo here was a surreal experience that I will never forget! Enjoy the first of this two part series in Iraqi Kurdistan!

And for all those wondering. I felt safer here than I do in the United States!

HELLO THERE:
We are Joe and Liisu, relatively new to YouTube but really excited to be a part of this community. We live small and sustainably in my home on wheels (a lovely van called Freyja) and from time to time out of our backpacks (we have not named the backpacks yet). On this channel, we ask you to join us on our travel adventures off the beaten track where we show you the beauty of untouched nature and wander into places most tourists don't dare to go.

Iraqi Kurdistan Travel - Highly Recommended!

I follow a lot of travel vlogs including Drew Binsky, Lexie Limitless and Yes Theory among many others. As I saw them head to Iraqi, Kurdistan I thought it must be really someplace special if Drew went there once and then headed back again with some friends.

So 2 of us went there and almost instantly we were surrounded with warm and welcoming people. Our misconceptions and stereotypes were quickly overcome. Not only were the people amazing but the scenery as well.

Big tourism potential in this country!
