A virtual tour of Suva City (Capital of Fiji).

If you are unable to visit Suva, take a virtual tour and re-live your experiences through the video. Those that have never visited Suva or Fiji, here's something that may give you a feel of the city centre.
Suva was founded in 1849 and became the new capital of Fiji in 1882. It became a city in 1952. Levuka was the old capital of Fiji.
There are many historical facts about the place which could not have been covered in the video as the pace had to be faster to cover the most.
Thanks to my friend Akanisi Vuiyasawa for accompanying me in one of my trips to record the video and highlight the places of interest.

Fiji Hot Rock Oven!! ???? Unseen FIJIAN FOOD + Remote Pacific Island Life!

???????? The Ultimate Fiji Food Tour:
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

LAU ISLANDS, FIJI - We’re in extremely remote Fiji, in the Lau group of islands, also some of the most beautiful and unvisited islands in Fiji. We had the special opportunity to go into a number of island Fijian villages to learn about the culture and especially cook and eat the local food.

Thank you to my friend Andhy Blake for arranging my trip to Fiji: and to Captain Cook Cruises ( for taking us on this once in a lifetime Fiji cruise to the remote Lau Islands - only accessible by boat.

1. Vanua Balavu Island, Lau Islands, Fiji
We arrived to our first island called Vanua Balavu. I love how Fiji is very traditional and when you arrive to a village they still have a protocol to respect the traditional land owners and ask the permission of the village Chief. To do so we brought kava with us to present to the Chief and once accepted we were able to be on the island and start filming. They prepared a dish called Vakasakera, moringa leaves with coconut milk, barracuda fish, and some local shellfish similar to abalone. After an amazing meal, we toured and swam around the Bay of Islands - spectacular!

2. Fulaga Island, Lau Islands, Fiji
We continued our cruise in Fiji to the Fulaga islands, sometimes regarded as the most beautiful islands in all of Fiji - maybe in the South Pacific. The island is famous for their local sea cockles, which looked quite a lot like huge blood cockles. They harvested them right out of the ocean then opened them up and marinated them with onions and lime juice and coconut milk. Freshest and most delicious cockles ever.

3. Kabara Island, Lau Islands, Fiji
Finally to continue this remote Fijian food tour we visited Kabara island where they prepared, along with Captain Cook Cruises, a Fijian lovo for 100 people! A lovo is the Fijian version of an underground hot rock oven which is common throughout Melanesia and Polynesia and in other cultures around the world. It was a fantastic process and the food was smoky and tender.

Cannibalism in Ancient Fiji

From the Global Village Travel Guide and DVD, Islands of the South Pacific. Stock footage available from
Transcript:

For hundreds of years,
the Fijian islands were avoided by explorers such as Captain Cook
who dubbed them the Cannibal Islands.
This grisly reputation held Europeans at bay until the
early 1800s. Today the only vestiges of cannibalism
are found behind glass at the Suva museum.
This display depicts the ancient custom of putting the bones of hated
enemies between the branches of a tree at the edge of the village
as a warning to potential raiders and to keep evil ancestor spirits
away.
These implements are forks used in a ritual
cannibal ceremony. They prevent the fingers
of the diner from touching the flesh of the victim.
Although cannibalism disappeared with the
spread of Christianity, another unusual ritual
practice survives in Fiji today

Indian Food in Fiji!! Unseen INDIAN FIJIAN FOOD in the Pacific Islands! ????????

???????? The Ultimate Fiji Food Tour:
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

SUVA, FIJI - Today we’re learning about Indians in Fiji, many of whom have been here for generations. Most arrived as indentured servants working on sugar plantations, but they brought with them their culture, customs and of course their food. Today we’re going on an Indian Fijian food tour - we’ll see how it’s similar to Indian food in Indian, and yet has its own distinct taste to Fiji!

A huge thank you to my friend Andhy Blake, he’s a TV host and Fijian producer who loves to eat and who arranged our entire trip to Fiji. Check him out

1. Zamzam Restaurant, Suva, Fiji (
To begin this Indian food tour in Fiji we’re starting at one of the most popular restaurants in Suva, Zamzam. They serve over 40 different dishes a day, with a mix of Indian Fijian, even Chinese, and halal dishes. The food is outstanding and their rotis are insanely soft. Eating at Zamzam is a must when you’re in Suva, and will satisfy all of your curry needs.

2. Babasiga Halal Bites, Nausori, Fiji
We’re continuing this tour in Nausori, where Andhy is from and to Babasiga Halal Bites, that’s legendary across Fiji for their lamb bone curry. It’s famous for a reason, it’s so tasty with just the right amount of masala.

3. Home Cooked duck masala
To finish off this Indian Fijian food tour we headed over to a friend of Andhy whose mother makes the greatest duck masala is all of Fiji! She used 2 fresh ducks, washed in turmeric, and stewed in no less than three of her own hand roasted masalas. The result was truly magical.

It was another delicious day in Fiji, learning a lot about the history of Indians and their amazing food in Fiji.

✨Tips and Recommendations✨
✅Best Time to Visit: May to October are the best months to visit, as this is the dry season with lower rainfall, milder temperatures, and less humidity.
✅Pack Right: Pack light, breathable clothing, as Fiji has a tropical climate. Sunscreen, insect repellent, hats, and beachwear are essential.
✅Respect Local Culture: Fijians are traditionally conservative, so it's best to dress modestly, particularly when visiting villages. It's also customary to remove hats and sunglasses in a village as a sign of respect.
✅Currency: The local currency is Fijian dollars. ATMs are available in cities and tourist areas. Most businesses also accept credit cards.
✅Offending Locals: Respect local customs and traditions. Do not enter houses or other premises without an invitation, and always ask for permission before taking photos of locals.
✅Unsafe Areas: While Fiji is generally safe, every location has less safe areas. Always be aware of your surroundings, especially at night.
✅Learn Basic Fijian Phrases: A simple Bula (hello) or Vinaka (thank you) goes a long way in connecting with locals.

BULA FIJI! Inside Fiji Airways and its Treasure Island

Bula Vinaka everyone! Fiji is my last stop in the South Pacific. I flew on Fiji Airways Airbus A350 from Sydney to Nadi. The island charm of Fiji started when I step inside Fiji Airways. I was on Fiji Time! Take a look at Fiji Airways new A350 product, meals, and services.

The next morning, I traveled domestically from Nadi to Savusavu on a Fiji Link Twin Otter flight. Savusavu is located on the Island of Vanua Levu which has a short landing strip and it is a captain’s landing-only airport. The 1-hour scenic flight allows me to see Fiji from above. Watch the video for the exciting landing there.

During my stay in Fiji, I also visited the Sigatoka River safari and went to a local Fijian village to learn about their culture. Lastly, I visited the recently opened Fiji Airways Aviation Academy. I met with trainees of Fiji Airways on safety training and flew a flight simulator.

A Fijian village with an amazing story! ????????

Fiji Vlog#15.
In this vlog I visit the village of Drauniivi in the province of Ra, in the north of the main island of Viti Levu, where I attend a traditional 'sevusevu' ceremony of welcome before hearing the story of Navosavakadua who was an oracle who challenged colonial authority in the late nineteenth century. Later, I visit his museum dedicated to him in the village!
