We just sailed 24 hours to meet up with Vernon from the Youtube channel Learning By Doing Sailing. Vernon has just arrived back in Australia after spending the last 4 years cruising Indonesia, we love his videos for their raw, honest and easy-going nature which we feel captures the reality of a cruiser's life and it certainly doesn’t hurt that he has sailed to some truly spectacular locations. We’ve both just completed significant upgrades to our floating homes, so while we’re both here, we thought it would be a fun idea to film each other’s upgrades to bring you a little something different. However, There’s a small catch, we are going to bring you Vernons upgrades, and if you want to see a full tour of our upgrades, you’re going to have to endure the pleasure that is heading over to Vernon's channel.

While in Texas getting caught up on dental appointments and doctor visits, the unexpected return of an ugly cancer has us scrambling for answers. Heading home to hang up the hook...for a bit! Vlog 90
It's the final countdown, de de dah! This episode tracks us as we head out of the Bay of Islands and down the stunning (but freezing in October) east coast of New Zealand. We forgo an overnight passage in favour of a quick stop off at Great Barrier Island then get up at the crack of dawn to make it to Tauranga before sunset. It was great to have family and friends waiting at the dock, what a feeling to finally be home for good! We also take some time to share how we all feel to be home, the good, the bad and the ugly.
We hope you have enjoyed following our journey around the world. If Nikau doesn't sell to quickly we plan to take her out for some bonus episodes tripping around New Zealand this summer - stay tuned for that!
We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau.
We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day!
We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand.
We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures!

Life on the OPEN OCEAN! What's it really like? Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 248
Ever wondered what a typical day on a two week open ocean passage is like? It varies depending on the boat, the crew and the ocean but there is definitely a couple common themes that weave their way into all of our long distance sails. Having the chance to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature is a highlight, as well as spending our days exactly as we'd like whether it's snoozing , reading, or fishing. And of course, we all love those days when conditions pick up a bit and allow Delos to shine with some badass sailing ???? When living aboard a 35 foot sailboat, space can be TIGHT! When you want to have guest come aboard to visit, they have to be up for the closeness that is going to happen. Nik, beau’s brother and his girlfriend Sam have been the only ones that have been brave enough to try out vacationing in our tiny home in paradise. Last time they visited we were in Georgetown, Bahamas, and now they are coming to check out Grenada with us.
But what do you do when family comes and visits you on your tiny floating home? Space may be limited on the boat, but there is SO MUCH to explore on the island. Check out this week’s episode as we finally get a chance to see what Grenada has to offer with our family in town.
