Falling In Love In Banjul, Gambia ???????? You Won't Believe This! #Gambia,Africa Ep.6

Banjul is the capital city of the Gambia, a small West African country bordered by Senegal. The city sits on an island where the Gambia River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Its colonial buildings include the National Museum, dedicated to Gambian culture and history. Vendors at the lively Albert Market sell colorful textiles and local produce. The city's main entrance is marked by the immense, columned Arch 22 gateway.

I am on a mission to visit 21 countries in 2021 telling the African story the African way. So far I have done 6 countries. 15 remaining.

SENEGAL: From SAINT-LOUIS to DAKAR. Stuck again + 6 top things to do in Dakar // EPS 4.

After crossing into Senegal we visited the vibrant fishing town Saint-Louis and famous Zebra Bar, which is a campsite most overland travelers visit when traveling west africa. On the way to Dakar we realized, that the clutch of my travel partner we repaired in Mauretania was still broken – so we prepared for a long stay in Senegals capital Dakar to send clutch discs from Europe.

Meanwhile we went on a burocratic journey through town to stamp our carnet de passage (customs document), apply for visas and explore the highlights of Dakar.

Join me for a tour through the city with my top things to do:
1. Visit the village des arts and buy some art
2. Eat at famous restaurant Lagon Nr. 1
3. Go surf at Dakar's beaches
4. Shop traditional waxed cotton fabric at Marché HLM and get some clothes made
5. Visit Gorée Island ( Île de Gorée ) and learn about it's history in the transatlantic slave trade
6. Shop at local food markets like Marché Kermel

// Welcome to the journey! I am Lea, a journalist and author and I want to take you with me on a motorcycle overloading adventure to all the wild and beautiful places in the world!

//Join the first stage of my trip around Africa along the coast of Westafrica through 12 countries: Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea-Conakry, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin.

//Time of the journey: Pre-Corona November 2019 to Feburary 2020

West African Countries Fighting To Keep Their Traditions Alive: Part 1 | Today In Africa | TRACKS

Of all of West Africa, Senegal is probably the country that has been affected the most my environmental chances that are impacting the oceans. Subject to the wrath of Mother Nature, the seafaring people have a dilemma to face, should they take to the open seas, or stay put?
Elsewhere, wedged between the vast wildernesses of the Atlantic and the Sahara, Mauritania was born of sand and wind. In order to survive there, people became nomads. A tough way of life, this forged the identity of their nation, however this is now disappearing.

BEST West African Food!! ORIGINAL JOLLOF RICE in Senegal, Africa!! (Don’t Miss It!!)

???????? Unseen African Food in Senegal:
???? Subscribe:

SAINT LOUIS, SENEGAL - Welcome to Saint Louis, a cultural capital city in northern Senegal, on the bank of the Senegal River, Atlantic Ocean, and near the border of Mauritania. Saint Louis happens to be the homeland, where you will find the original Jollof Rice, known locally as Thieboudienne. Today we have the privilege to see the full process of making jollof rice, one of West Africa’s best foods!

I have great memories of when I was growing up and I had many friends from West Africa. Occasionally they would come to school with homemade jollof rice - and I remember my first taste which was love at first bite. Something about the spices, tomato rice, and tender meat or fish, garlic and chilies, all combined to make one of the most comforting foods known. You will find versions of jollof rice throughout West Africa and all of Africa, but Senegal, and specifically Saint Louis is the birthplace of jollof rice and where you’ll find the original version. Throughout West Africa you’ll find jollof rice cooked with a variety of meats, but in Senegal it’s most common with fish.

We were invited to a local family home and they cooked the entire process of jollof rice (thieboudienne) from start to finish. It’s an incredibly complicated dish with dozens of ingredients, herbs, and seasoning. I loved all the different vegetables like the bitter eggplants and the hibiscus leaves and tamarind. Once all the vegetables and fish are cooked in the tomato paste, they are taken out and the rice is cooked within the liquid. Additionally she made an amazing sauce of onions and carrots and tomato sauce and chilies. Once all the ingredients were ready, the jollof rice are assembled on communal eating platters with rice on the bottom, all the vegetables and fish on top, and extra onion sauce sprinkled on top.

I can say it was the best jollof rice (thieboudienne) I’ve had in my life!

Later we went on a horse cart tour of Saint Louis and visited the amazing fishing village along the Atlantic coast. People were cool and the atmosphere was lively and vibrant.

Another incredible day in Senegal, West Africa!

Senegal Travel Guide | TOP 10 Places to Visit in Senegal | WORLDTOUR GUIDE PART-1

#senegal #senegaltravel #WORLDTOURGUIDE

------------------------------------------------------------------

• Senegal ????????

• Country in West Africa

➡️ Introduction :-
• Senegal, officially the Republic of Senegal, is a country in West Africa. Senegal is bordered by Mauritania in the north, Mali to the east, Guinea to the southeast, and Guinea-Bissau to the southwest.

• Capital: Dakar

• Dialing code: +221

------------------------------------------------------------------

➡️ Is Senegal a safe country?

• Senegal is known for being a safe country, and while visitors — especially female solo travelers — should take the typical precautions you would when traveling alone, visiting solo here shouldn't present any big problems. The locals are friendly, and robberies and violent crime against tourists are pretty uncommon.

------------------------------------------------------------------

➡️ Can you drink alcohol in Senegal?

• Senegal doesn't have a legal drinking/purchasing age of alcoholic beverages. However, because it's a predominantly Muslim nation that respects Islamic law, people in general are expected not to drink. ... Even in Dakar, dehydration is possible during warmer months if you do not drink enough water each day.

------------------------------------------------------------------

➡️ How many wives can you have in Senegal?

• The most distinctive pattern of Senegalese marriage is polygamy, a marital state in which a man is married to more than one wife. In principle a man may have as many wives as he wishes, although most polygamous males follow the Islamic rule that limits the number of wives to four.

------------------------------------------------------------------

➡️ What language is spoken in Senegal?

• French

------------------------------------------------------------------

➡️ What religion is Senegal?

• Abstract. Senegal is usually classified as 90% Muslim and 5% Christian. But Senegal's dominant religious imagination is far different from anything suggested by classical labels like 'Muslim' or even 'Sufi Brotherhoods'.
