Departure from Dakar, riding under Baobab Trees and the secret salt pools of Palmarin - join the second part of the journey through Senegal.
After the clutch discs finally arrived in Dakar we gave our motorcycles a service (thank you, CFAO Dakar for taking care about the Fox). After two weeks of waiting we were finally ready to leave Dakar! And we were on a mission: we were looking for the most beautiful Baobab Trees of the country and the some salt pools that I had seen pictures of online - but actually had no clue about where they really are. Join the journey and find out if we succeded!
//NOTE: videos were recorded before I had a Youtube Channel - initially used for my Instagram stories. That's the reason for the close ups of my face - they were recorded vertically. I still decided to use them - that's the authentic footage I have and I can't change that anymore. Remember: I just started out with filming and cutting - its a learning curve and far from perfect! If you mind seeing my nose hair every now and then, I can highly recommend you to skip this part of the journey and join again when I will publish my next trips after the country Benin with hopefully improved footage!

The #AfricanRenaissanceMonument is a major landmark towering the skies of #Dakar,#Senegal . It is is 52 m (171 ft) tall and made of copper.
It is the tallest statue in Africa.
It is taller than the statue of Liberty in New York and Christ the Redeemer in Rio, Brazil. It's cost of construction was $27M
On 3 April 2010, the African Renaissance Monument was unveiled in Dakar in front of 19 African heads of state.
The sculpture of man, woman and child stands as a symbol of defiance and future prosperity.It dominates the Dakar skyline and it represents Africa taking “its destiny into its own hands. The baby is hand is pointing to the future while the woman's hand shows the past that's to be left behind.
Inside this monument is a museum. For a non citizen you pay $5. Then take the elevator to the head of the man .
It's interesting to note that in terms of direction. The baby's hand is pointing to the statue of Liberty in New York.
There's a lot of history and culture to learn inside the museum and the guide will take you along!
