Join us for a journey through Jodhpur the Blue City of Rajasthan India as we roam the blue streets. Jodhpur is a city in the Thar Desert of the northwest Indian state of Rajasthan. Its 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort is a former palace that’s now a museum set on a rocky outcrop which we just had to check out. The fort overlooks the walled city, where many buildings are painted the city’s iconic shade of blue. We try to get into Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas’ wedding venue the amazing Umaid Bhavan hotel. We also head over to the Sardar Market (सरदार बाजार) nearby the Ghanta Ghar clock tower of Rajasthan where you can find great places to shop. Let’s go!

RAJASTHAN | Visiting the Pink, Blue and Golden City of India | JAIPUR, JODHPUR and JAISALMER
'Land of the Kings', Rajasthan is vibrant with its colors, forts, people and culture. We visited the largest state of India in December,17. It was a lovely experience worth sharing. We started from the pink city Jaipur visiting Nahargarh Fort, Jal Mahal and Hawa Mahal on the first day. The second day was for the Amer and Jaigarh Fort. The ambience at Amer was unreal especially when the entire fort glows in the morning sunshine.
Our next stop was Jaisalmer- the golden city of India. Sonar Kella- the golden fort is a living fort there. An entire colony surprises you when you enter inside the fort. Each and every building there is made of golden stones. The same day we went to Sam Dunes for watching the sunset from the Thar desert. There were arrangements of cultural show in the evening and night stay at tents.
Next morning we took a car and went west into the Thar desert at Tanot Mata temple and Longewala battlefield famous for the engagements happened in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
Our last destination was the blue city Jodhpur. Mehrangarh fort is the main attraction there.

Jodhpur also known as the The Blue City, Sun City and Gateway to Thar, Jodhpur is famous for its Mehrangarh fort, blue houses, temples, sweets and snacks. Apart from the fort, there are multiple temples, lakes, shopping streets that are like a mirage from a bygone era.
The former capital of Marwar, Jodhpur is one of the most enchanting cities of Rajasthan, with its mighty Mehrangarh fort overlooking the city. The city is called the Blue City as it looks completely blue in colour from an aerial view because of its blue walls and blue houses. Nearby Jaswant Tada and Umaid Bhawan Palace are also among the top attractions in Jodhpur. However, the magic lies in the old city itself with hundreds of shops, guesthouses, eating joints and vendors make it a chirpy bustling city, especially near the landmark clock tower and Sardar Market.
Seen in the backdrop of the movie, The Dark Knight Rises, Jodhpur attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world. Jodhpur is conveniently located in the centre of Rajasthan making it easier for people visiting Jodhpur to explore other destinations of the state.

Jodhpur has a well-functioning airport with direct flights to Mumbai/Delhi/Ahmedabad and some other cities in Gujarat/Rajasthan. November to February are the best months to visit Jodhpur, although they are cold, with temperatures going close to 0 degree celsius for a few days in January. This is a good weather to visit the forts of Jodhpur. October and March also provides pleasant weather for a trip to Jodhpur. However, being in an arid land, Rajasthan and also Jodhpur is extremely hot during summers, so April to September must be avoided.
