Where to Camp in Quartzsite, Arizona
Located in Arizona’s Sonoran Desert, Quartzsite is a popular RVing destination, especially for those looking to escape the winter chill. It’s also home to the Quartzsite Sports, Vacation, and RV Show. More than 700,000 people flock to the desert every January to attend this annual event showcasing new RVs, camping gear and rig accessories, service technicians, and so much more.
Whether you’re visiting for the show or simply looking to soak up the sunshine, here’s what you should know about camping in Quartzsite.
BLM camping. Quartzsite is filled with free camping opportunities on its many Bureau of Land Management (BLM) properties. These lands offer dry camping sites for stays up to 14 days and seasonal Long Term Visitor Areas (LTVAs) for those camping for extended periods of time.
Amenities. Most of the free camping sites found in Quartzsite offer few or no amenities. Some campgrounds will have dump stations, vaulted toilets, and potable water, but most are designed for boondocking.
Where to camp. Here are a few of the best places to set up your campsite while visiting Quartzite, Arizona:
Plomosa Road: This free 14-day campground is big rig friendly and is often one of the least crowded areas around Quartzsite.
Hi Jolly Camping Area: Camp close to town at this free, 14-day BLM campground. While there are no amenities at this site, you will have beautiful sweeping views of the desert.
Dome Rock Mountain Camping Area: Located just west of Quartzsite, this campground offers free dry camping for up to 14 days. You can enjoy views of Dome Rock mountain and access several hiking trails.

The area surrounding Quartzsite, Arizona is a vast area of federally-operated BLM land. All within 3-6 miles of town and can be used by Vans, Tents and RVs of all kinds to camp on. The five free BLM areas (Plomosa Rd, Hi Jolly, Dome Rock Rd, Scaddan Wash, and Road Runner) offer no facilities or services. Free camping areas are limited to 14 days within each 28-day period.

▶︎ Free & Near Downtown
Free dispersed camping, about 2 miles outside of Quartzsite, with no services available, but lots of space and beautiful views of surrounding mountains. Be sure to register with the Camp Host on duty near the entrance to the area. The major drawback is that you can hear the traffic on Interstate 10. Many RVers use solar panels for all or at least part of their power needs though, so generator use is minimal.
Sunrises and sunsets are endless and beautiful! Easy access back into town for food, gas, firewood, laundry, and just about anything an RVer or camper could need.

If you're an Rv'er the Quartzsite RV Show in Quartzsite, AZ is the place to be. You can find anything and everything you will need to go RV'ing in Quartzsite, AZ. This was our first experience at the show and it was HUGE!! Found some deals and some not some good deals. We drove an hour and half to the Nellie E Saloon AKA Desert Bar and that in it self is a experience that you need to do if you are in the area.
