Flying Home During the COVID-19 PANDEMIC | Bhutan to India to USA

???? MyBhutan:
???????? Visit Bhutan:
???? WATCH: More Bhutan Episodes -

With my trip through Bhutan suddenly cut short due to the pandemic that exploded around the world in early March of 2020, I had to rush to get out of the country and make it to India, Qatar, and then home to the U.S. before international borders closed. This is travel in 2020 and my virus travel nightmare to get home.

My morning began in Paro, Bhutan on March 13, 2020. That day, the COVID-19 situation around the world escalated, and the U.S. closed flights from Europe on March 13. India also would close their borders to foreigners that day. I had to fly through India to get back home, so I had to cut my time in Bhutan short by two days in order to make it.

I headed to Paro Airport, with my driver from MyBhutan, Nidup, and my guide, Tsheten. There, I checked in and boarded my flight to Kolkata. I used my Clorox wipes to clean everything onboard. After making it through Immigration and answering questions, I took an Ola (the Indian version of Uber) to my hotel.

My boy Carlos from Volpe, Where Are You contacted me to link up, so we went out with masks and hand sanitizer and filmed a few videos before going back to my hotel. At 11:30 p.m., I headed back to the airport. It was almost midnight and so many flights had been cancelled. What a crazy day!

I didn’t get upgraded, but I did get access to the business class lounge, which I didn’t even know existed. I went up to the lounge, which was sick! It had two dining halls, including a buffet and a bar. There was only one other person there. I got a Kingfisher beer and then got Lahori chicken, mustard paprika chicken, Shanghai chicken, and paneer tikka masala.

The paneer was excellent. I also loved the Shanghai chicken, which was dry, crunchy, and sweet, almost like a sweet and sour chicken but less sweet and a little spicier. The mustard paprika chicken was just OK. I loved the paneer with the chicken. The perfect combination of veg and non-veg! Then, I got more paneer and a creamy veg curry.

I had priority, so I would board first. Then, I went down to the gift shop to get a few masks for my kids for $24 USD. Then, I headed to my gate and boarded.

I had a row all to myself on the plane. I needed to sleep and slept the whole 6-hour flight. We landed in Doha, Qatar, which was foggy. It looked like it could have been a sandstorm! From there, I went to two counters and paid $1,000 to upgrade. I wanted to take a shower in the lounge, but I didn’t have time.

I boarded and had a whole row to myself again. I disinfected my TV, tray, and armrest. Everyone had a mask on. I didn’t see anyone cleaning the plane. Seven or eight hours in, I still had 7 hours and 20 minutes to go. It was tiring. I had a quick snack.

I made it to Miami after 50 hours of traveling. It was my longest travel day ever but I was so glad to be home. I was going to quarantine in my house for the next 14 days and not even see my parents.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries before 2020 and all 7 continents, we have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

FLYING home during the CORONAVIRUS pandemic | (Covid-19) | VLOG #056

We've been forced to leave our home in Bali, but luckily enough we were able to book a flight home to South Africa without it getting cancelled. Our nerves were high throughout the whole process but luckily everything went smoothly. The only differences we noticed were a number of temperature tests, many more people wearing masks, particles swabs on our bags and very empty airports. Perhaps we were paranoid for nothing!

Good luck to everyone trying to get home at this time. We would love to hear from you all in the comments below, so please leave how this virus has affected your life, down below. Much love all and we thank you so much for all the support we have been receiving.

Flying Home during the Pandemic || The Hardest Decision Yet

After 5 months in India, 4.5 of those in lockdown, we are leaving India. This was one of the toughest decisions we've had to make yet on our year of travel. With sadness we leave Goa, and make our journey home over 30 hours of travel.

Namaste from India,

Coronavirus: Flying in the age of Covid-19? - BBC Travel Show

Rajan Datar finds out what it will be like to get on a plane after the world finally emerges from lockdown, how New York’s famous yellow cabs are dealing with the new normal and why social distancing is not a problem at the usually packed ancient temple complex of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

What It's REALLY Like Flying During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed everything, and that includes how we fly. Let us show you exactly what it's like flying during the pandemic.

From buying a ticket to boarding the plane to the drink-and-snack service onboard and even who's sitting next to you, airlines have made drastic changes - and just what you'll find onboard will depend on which airline you fly. Airports are different, too, as shops and restaurants (and even airport lounges) have limited hours or closed down altogether. It all adds up to an almost unrecognizable travel experience.

We recently took a trip from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Washington, D.C. (DCA) and back to document the flying experience today. And we flew two different airlines, American and Delta, to show just how much it differs based on which airline you choose.

Flying from India to the United States During Pandemic | Ep. 54

On March 21st, 2020 we boarded a plane that took us from India back to the United States. It was the weirdest travel day we have had yet and one that had us holding our breath until we landed in the United States. Such a crazy time to be traveling...

We both quarantined for 16 days alone and exhibited no symptoms of the coronavirus. We feel very lucky to be healthy and extend our well wishes to everyone affected by the virus around the world.

Traveling is embedded into our relationship as we met on a Spring Break cruise in 2016. Since then, we haven't stopped traveling together in the United States and abroad. We left New York in July 2019 to travel the world and we took work with us, including starting a travel vlog. We have made it our mission to slow travel for 16 months throughout South America and Asia and to create travel videos along the way.

Traveling Atlas was created to capture our moments of taking risk, building connections, and seeing the world. We will be staying in each country we visit for about a month in order to experience cultures to our maximum capacity and to inspire others that they can do the same. Watch this before traveling from India to USA during Covid COK - SFO flight Corona pandemic Travel

Hi, My name is Simy,
I am an Airbnb Ambassador and Super Host. Here is a link to my Earlier Video about flight journey from USA to India during Covid.

I wanted to share my experience traveling from India to the USA after the new travel guidance announced by the US starting  January 26th 2021. Now All passengers must clear a Covid test ( RT PCR) in order to board the plane. Up until January the only flight options were Air India and United airlines. But starting March 1st Emirates and Qatar airways have seats.

My trip was with Air India from Kochi to San Francisco with a Layover in Delhi for 3 hours.Kochi to Delhi is 2 hours 45 minutes. Delhi to San Francisco is about 16 hours. I am 6 ft 1 inches tall and luckily I had plenty of leg room
Here are the steps Get a COVID RTPCR 72 hours prior to boarding the plane to USA. In my case I flew from Kochi to San Francisco. So I had to fly tomDelhi and then board the plane from Delhi to San francisco. So my test has to be within 72 hours from the time I am boarding from Delhi. Print this result and take it with you. Do web check in 48 hours prior to the trip at the Air India website and print confirmation slipPrint passenger health undertaking form Go to the airport and collect the boarding passesCheck The quarantine requirements in San Francisco Bay Area. In the Bay Area, two counties have a 10 day mandatory home quarantine requirement for international arrivals. Those counties are San Francisco and Santa Clara. Please visit the SFO website for updated information.
The boarding started on time. flight was almost full. Air India provided a package with face shield, mask and sanitizing wipes for every passenger. And if you are a middle seat passenger a PPE kit was provided which was a single use gown. Mine was an aisle seat. But I had the middle seat from Delhi to San Francisco.  An hour into the flight Dinner was served. Chapathi, Vegetablke kuruma, Pulav and Payasam was included in the hot meal. Flight was smooth and we landed in Delhi 25 minutes before schedule. But the gates were all taken and we had to stay on the taxiway for about 40 minutes.
Delhi airport is large. We landed at the lfarthest gate in the domestic terminal. And we had to go to the farthest gate in the international terminal.  That walk is a very long, Unofficial accounts says that it's over one mile of walking.
The Delhi airport which is Indira Gandhi International airport was awarded the best airport in India and Best in Central Asia by skyTrax in 2020.
You will have to go through immigration here. You will need to fill out an “indemnity Quarantine cost and deportation charges form basically asking you to be responsible for all costs involved in a return journey if we don't have proper documentation and COVID testing. Then provide Covid test results to the staff before entering the immigration section. Then pass through the immigration and go forward to the gate.
The Lounges were closed at the Delhi airport.
Luckily we don’t have to collect the baggage here and re-check.

The flight from Delhi is a 777 and  was almost full as well. I was in the middle seat and I had to wear a PPE kit ( gown)
my aisle seat mate switched seat and I moved to the aisle seat! Yesssss!!! Every seat had a USB2.0 outlet under the monitor. No power outlets under the seats. You will have to bring your own Headphones
The flying time is 16 hours. A hot meal was provided after 6 hours of the flight. I chose the Veg option. Nice meal. Entertainment system worked. There were a few movies.
About 10 hours into the flight hot dinner was served. I chose lamb. It was pretty good. I thought I tasted Soy sauce in the lamb
