EXTREME Vietnamese Street Food - 5 Must Eat Foods in Hanoi!!

???????? Vietnam Street Food - Ultimate Pho Tour:
???? T-shirts:
???? Ghost Chili:

HANOI, VIETNAM - Today we’re going on an ultimate Vietnamese street food tour to eat 5 of the must eat Vietnamese foods in Hanoi, that are not pho. I’m hanging out with local food expert @Hanoifood from Hanoi Food. We’re eating some local favorite Vietnamese dishes and some extreme dishes as well. It’s going to be delicious!

Thank you to @Hanoifood for taking me on this amazing Hanoi street food tour:

Here are all the places we ate:

1. Xôi Xéo
Location: Xôi Mây (
Price: 15,000 VND ($0.63) per bowl
One of the common breakfasts in northern Vietnam is sticky rice with toppings. She has to be one of the fastest food assemblers in all of Vietnam!

2. Bún Riêu
Location: Bún riêu Hàng Lược (
Price: 75,000 VND ($3.15) for fully loaded bowl
Pho is extremely common in Vietnam, but there are so many other noodle soups, and bun rieu is one of the best. This place is extremely popular and we ordered it fully loaded!

3. Bún Chả
Bún Chả Hàng Quạt (
Price: 45,000 VND ($1.89) per portion
If there’s one dish that you have to eat when you’re in Hanoi, Vietnam, it would be bun cha for lunch. The combination of grilled pork in a soup of fish sauce with noodles and vegetables is heavenly.

4. Bún ốc
Location: Bún ốc cô Huệ (
Price: 40,000 VND ($1.68) per bowl
One of Khoa’s favorite local dishes is bun oc, or snails and noodles. We specifically tried the cold version with giant snails!

5. Cháo
Location: Cháo Sườn Sụn Huyền Anh Đồng Xuân (
Price: 35,000 VND ($1.47) per bowl
Another common dish in Vietnam is chao, or congee, rice porridge. Rather than being chunk with rice grains, this was one of the smoothest bowls of congee ever.

6. Chả Rươi
Location: Cửa Hàng Chả Rươi Hưng Thịnh (
Price: 35,000 VND ($1.47) per piece, we ate 5
One more extreme Vietnamese food we had to try was cha ruoi, a sandworm pancake. A little bizarre, but proved to be one of the best meals of the day!

Thank you for watching this ultimate Vietnamese street food tour in Hanoi!

The Ultimate VIETNAMESE STREET FOOD TOUR in Hanoi (Local Tips!)

Hanoi Street food. What’s it like? Where can you find it? And what’s the best way to experience it? I’m going to answer all of those questions and share a bit of what I learned about Vietnamese cuisine (or more specifically, Haonian cuisine) from my new friend, Ngoc at Hanoi Street Food Tour.

In total, you’ll get 13 different street food spots to add to your wish list by the end of this video.

And stick around until the end for a little recommended reading that includes a foreword from Vietnam-obsessive, Anthony Bourdain.

THE ULTIMATE HANOI VLOG (craziest city we’ve ever been to!)

In this Vietnam Vlog, we're exploring the buzzing city of Hanoi for 5 days. On our first day in Hanoi,
we were shocked of the chaos and traffic in the city... a real culture shock! We weren't even sure, if we should film a video to be honest. But then we discovered so many cool things to do in Hanoi, like the famous Train Street! And above all, we fell in love with the Vietnamese coffee specialties, so we made it our mission to try as many different coffee versions as we could, including the Vietnamese Egg Coffee.

ABOUT US
Hi, we’re Chris and Mandy, travel bloggers and creators from Australia. Since December 2015, we have been travelling and exploring the world full-time. We usually spend 1-2 months in each place we travel to and love really getting to know a place. One of our favourite ways to get to know a destination is through food, and we share all of our food guides here on Youtube and on our travel blogs. We love to pack light, travelling the past 3 years with carry-on only. On AlmostLanding.com, we share in-depth guides to help you plan the best trip, we often have free printable guides you can download or print out, we’ve created our own travel maps pinpointing our favourite picks for different places so you can easily find everything and make travel planning easy. We have another travel blog all on Bali, AlmostLanding-Bali.com, we’ve spent so much time in Bali and share everything we know and love about this beautiful island. We’ve fallen in love with travel and blogging, and we wanted to create a space for other travel lovers and life dreamers. Thanks for being a part of Almost Landing, and make sure to say hi :)

Eating Xoi Xeo at Xoi Yen | Hanoi Vietnam

Eating Xoi Xeo at Xoi Yen was definitely an experience. To be completely honest we're not exactly sure what we were eating. It tasted pretty good, but the menu said it was sticky rice topped with FAT so that stopped Kara from truly enjoying the food.

We read on a few websites that we should eat Xoi Xeo at Xoi Yen, so we decided to today while we were in the old quarter. We probably should have done a little bit more research... I think maybe we should have topped our Xoi Xeo with meat or beans or something.

Next time we'll do more research before eating Xoi Xeo haha.

If you want to know what it's like eating Xoi Xeo in Hanoi's Old Quarter check out this VLOG!

Traveling for $20 A Day: Hanoi, Vietnam - Ep 13

In Hanoi, Vietnam, I got a buffet breakfast, beef pho, bun cha, ice cream, Vietnemese egg coffee, sugarcane juice, four Hanoi beers, a room in a hostel, and explored the entire Old Quarter and western side of the city, all in one day - all for LESS THAN 15 DOLLARS. Seriously, this is the cheapest city I've ever visited.

($20 USD = 445,000 Vietnamese dong)

Here's how I spent my money in one full day in Hanoi:

Hostel bed - 112,000 dong
Breakfast buffet - FREE (included with hostel)
Ice cream - 8,000
Egg coffee - 17,000
Beef pho - 30,000
Fried dough snack - 7,000
Temple of Literature - 30,000
Sugarcane juice - 10,000
Ho Chi Minh Complex - 40,000
Bun Cha - 35,000
Four beers @7k/beer - 28,000

TOTAL COST = 319,000 dong ($14.26 USD)

Oh, and one more thing: the egg coffee I drank in this video is seriously the best coffee I've ever had in my entire life. If you visit Hanoi, you MUST TRY egg coffee.

Where I stayed: Chien Hostel

This hostel had the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. They were so happy to help me make this video and show me around Hanoi. I couldn't have had such an amazing yet frugal day without the help of the Chien Hostel staff. Shout out to Chun and Tuan!

About Me:

My name is Kevin Cook. I'm originally from Dallas, TX, but I've been living and traveling in Asia since 2013.

After graduating from university in 2011 and working a few unfulfilling jobs, I saved enough money to move to Asia and work as a teacher for a few years. That opportunity allowed me to travel around and experience new foods and cultures, and ignited a passion for blogging and making videos.

Now I travel full-time and make videos with the goal that I can encourage YOU to pursue your own dream of overseas traveling and living.

If you enjoy watching my videos, you can help me grow my channel by giving my videos a 'thumbs up', leaving a comment, sharing them, and subscribing!
