Dama Station is a street area that once existed in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. Together with the adjacent Xiaoma Station, it is collectively known as Dama Station. It is bounded by Zhongshan 5th Road in the north and Xihu Road in the south. It is parallel to Beijing Road and is located in the commercial area of Guangzhou. The most prosperous area. Before 2000, Dama Station was a traditional-style street, famous for the Qing Dynasty Hezu Temple Academy building complex, Dama Station Church and the food street. Its Ming and Qing academies were once rare in Greater China and bear witness to the revival of cultural education and academic revitalization in Guangdong during the Qing Dynasty. It is known as a unique place of interest among the 100 famous historical and cultural cities in China.
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Dama Station was adjacent to the governor-general, governor, chief secretary, prefect's yamen, and academies at the provincial, prefecture, and county levels. During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, the governors of Guangdong and Guangxi built Yuexiu Academy in Dama Station. Since then, a large-scale complex of ancestral temples and academies has formed in the surrounding area. There are many academies on both sides of one street in Dama Station alone. Until 1999, the west of Dama Station There are still five academies on the side: Pingsuo Academy, Xie's Academy, Sanyi Bookstore, Lai's Bookstore, and Jiangdu Bookstore. In the early years of the Republic of China, Da Ma Station was still a gathering place for traditional beauty treatments such as facial hair pulling and hair combing.
No. 35 Dama Station was once the location of the famous Dama Station Church. In 1950, Lin Xiangao began to hold meetings at his home at No. 35, Dama Station, which was called the Malaysia Station Gospel Hall. Because he was unwilling to join the political propaganda-style Three-Self Patriotic Church, on the evening of September 14, 1955, during the counter-revolutionary campaign, he, Wang Guoxian and Zhang Yaosheng were arrested in the church hall as the leaders of the Malaysian counter-revolutionary group. On September 27, 1955, the Guangzhou Three-Self Association organized a meeting to accuse the Malaysian counter-revolutionary group, and they were subsequently sentenced to many years in prison. After Lin Xian'ao was released from prison in 1978, he resumed the gathering at No. 35, Malaysia Station. Later, the number gradually increased to thousands, and the influence was considerable. After 2000, the Dama Station Church moved to No. 15 Ronggui Lane, Yahetang (North), Dezheng North Road.

Conversations | The Architecture of the Future Museum

Conversations | The Architecture of the Future Museum
Art Basel in Basel 2023, June 16

Museums are changing rapidly, along with their architecture. They seek to become more open, more community-centered, more experiential, more digital, more connected to nature – and architects are enrolled to help realize these ambitions. This conversation explores how architecture can lead the way in advancing and enhancing the museum. How can architecture give expression to the museum’s democratic and inclusive aspirations and accommodate new forms of digital creativity? What are the responsibilities of museum architecture when it comes to raising ecological awareness and the ongoing process of decolonizing collections? Can architecture help maintain museums at the center of our civic life?
After the event, András Szántó will hold a signing of his latest publication Imagining the Future Museum: 21 Dialogues With Architects (Hatje Cantz 2023) in the Hatje Cantz bookstore, Hall 2.

Ibiza To New York, why I Love New York City The Best City In The World

Prepare yourself for a rollicking tale of my adventure in the grand city of New York! Picture this: I found myself in the heart of the Big Apple, on a whirlwind journey that could make even a leprechaun's head spin.It all began at the Brooklyn Mirage, where the pulsating beats of the one and only Martin Garrix beckoned me into a night of pure musical ecstasy. With the crowd jumping and the lights ablaze, I danced like a wild Irish jig was coursing through my veins. But that was just the beginning! Armed with the spirit of adventure and a mischievous glint in my eye, I hopped on a city bike and set forth to explore the vast borough of Queens. Pedaling through the streets, I discovered the vibrant tapestry of cultures that make up this wondrous city. From colorful markets to bustling neighborhoods, Queens welcomed me with open arms, as if I were an honorary resident. The next chapter of my tale took me to the legendary New York Yankees stadium in the Bronx. But hold on, it wasn't for a baseball game! No, sir, I was there to witness the thunderous roar of a New York City Soccer match. Surrounded by passionate fans, I couldn't help but join in their spirited chants and cheers. Aye, I may have even let out a few Irish battle cries in the heat of the moment! Now, brace yourself, for the climax of my grand adventure. Madison Square Garden, the hallowed ground where dreams come true, played host to none other than Dermot Kennedy himself. With his soul-stirring voice and heartfelt lyrics, he transported me to a realm where emotions ran wild and spirits soared high. The crowd swayed like fields of green, enchanted by the Irish singing star's mesmerizing performance. But sometimes, amidst the bright lights and thunderous applause, it's the simplest pleasures that steal the show. Central Park, a verdant oasis in the heart of the concrete jungle, beckoned me with open arms. Strolling through its leafy paths, I savored the tranquility, all the while indulging in a delectable ice cream treat. Oh, the sheer bliss of being lost in the serenity of Central Park, with each creamy lick reminding me of the sweetness of life. And just when I thought my adventure couldn't get any more legendary, fate had one last surprise in store. Citi Field, the hallowed grounds where the Grateful Dead bid farewell with their last tour. With tie-dye shirts and dancing shoes at the ready, I joined the joyful throngs of Deadheads, swaying to the melodic tunes and feeling the music course through my very being. The spirit of Jerry Garcia himself seemed to linger in the air, as if welcoming me into the fold of this timeless musical legacy. And so, my dear friend, my journey through the concrete maze of New York City came to an end. From the electrifying beats of Martin Garrix to the melodic symphony of Dermot Kennedy, from the vibrant streets of Queens to the serene paths of Central Park, and finally, the farewell of the Grateful Dead at Citi Field, I experienced a slice of New York like no other. A tale woven with music, culture, and the spirit of adventure, forever etched in the annals of my Irish soul. Sláinte to New York, the city that never sleeps, and to the memories that will dance in my heart till the end of my days!I feel in love with New York vlogs from Casey Neistat, a renowned filmmaker and YouTuber, has inspired countless individuals to pick up a camera and start creating their own videos. Hong Kong Disneyland Fireworks

This is the fireworks show from Saturday.

Everyone loves to hate Hong Kong Disneyland. The media reviles the park and serves it up as tabloid fodder, reveling in an orgy of cruel delight with every single hiring misstep and every missed attendance goal. Local citizens, with whom my conversations have yielded much anecdotal evidence, also have voiced their displeasure, mostly over the park's size - too small - and its demographics - too many mainlanders. So it was with these pejorative impressions, this cacophony of complaints simmering in my imagination, that I passed warily through the gates of the Magic Kingdom, in cautious expectation of unfulfilled promises and inexorable bores. What I got, however, to my pleasant surprise and veritable enjoyment, was an afternoon and evening spent in the company of great friends amidst all sorts of amusements, an outing that easily summited any acclivity of entertainment previously established in my mind.

There were rides, lots of them, on which my friends and I spent much time frolicking like little children in whose hands are new toys. We actually spent more time on the rides than on the lines to board them, which surprised me, and added to the allure of the place. Every attraction, whether it was Space Mountain or Small World, whether it was the crazy tea cups or Pooh's dyslexic, whole-language reading adventure, was accessible without having to spend an inordinate amount of time waiting, and that's a good thing. We spent about one-minute in line for my favorite ride, Buzz Light Year's space voyage - a real-life first-person shooter. In general, I think can queue for ten minutes in order to go on a two-minute ride, any day, no problem.

Not only were the rides, and their queues impressive; the shows, too, were of such outstanding quality that our merry band contrived meticulously to attend them, twice even. Our friend lady B, whose initial plan we had followed to come to Disney and by whose handiwork we were granted free admittance, performed marvelously at the Golden Mickeys, a captivating drama involving physical feats of daring, risky dancing, plenty of singing and of course many of Walt's freaky, life-sized animals. From the audience, we cheered lustily for our friend and her fellow performers who went through a medley of Disney's greatest soundtracks and scenes. Other seated-performances that we attended, including the Stitch game and the 4D symphony orchestra, moreover delivered hilarity and sensory thrills. The High School Musical outdoor rally, my favorite, was an engrossing confluence of infectious beats, rhythmic dancing and filipino goodwill. Indeed, there was not a single misfire in all of the super live-action and animated spectacles we viewed. Engrossed audiences laughed, clapped and cheered wildly.

Who can forget the evening's main events, the night parade and the fireworks? So desperately did we desire prime seating that we scouted and camped our positions as though settlers rushing through a frontier, assiduously scanning and then demarcating our territory. We would not be denied a gorgeous view of the evening's entertainment. And when it came time for the performances, that the shows did touch the ethereal heights of our lofty expectations only added to ecstasy of being like a child, in awe and wonder, of the world around us. The Disney magic verily cast its spell on us, suspending our maturity for the welcomed digestion of a deep palette of colors set to slick choreography. Neither the Halloween parade (and the accompanying ghoulish, nighttime frights in Adventureland) nor the fireworks extravaganza should be missed.

Finally, as much as firsthand experience has proven its worth in debunking deplorable myths and conjectures about Hong Kong Disneyland (e.g. the park is too small; there are too many mainlanders), much of the myth-shattering and debunkment in my own received opinion came from eloquent discourse with past and present Disney cast members, from whom I learned about the pricing structure of Disney merchandise and foods - and why both seem to be presumptuously expensive - and whose words, combined with my own experience in the park, confirm the notion that Disney works hard to adjust its brand for cultural differences, though in the case of Hong Kong, the company still has much to demonstrate before a critical local audience.
