Unlike the usual landscape film choices of Velvia and Ektar Portra 160 is a lot more subtle. In this video I take a look at how it an be used to capture a different sort of landscape and why you might want to give it a try.

Shot it at box speed and developed by @thedarkroom -- they did an amazing job; I never thought my photos could look this good.

On a recent trip back to the States, Lou and I went back to our old neighborhood in New York City to shoot a roll of 35mm film (Portra 400) on our Canon A1. Like I say in the video it had been AGES since I last shot film, and as you watch you will soon learn how things ended up not going as expected. Without ruining the ending all I can say problem solving leaves room for much more creativity than I ever expected!!
The entire point of this video was to combine the importance of remembering to capture your daily life and the magic of writing a blog post. Hope it left you feeling inspired!!

Question of the Week: For those of you who watched until the end of the video, would you have kept drinking your tea too? Or poured it down the drain?
UPDATE: So, according to our local photography store expert, the problem was entirely self-made, we shouldn't have shot on the green automatic setting on the lens while in Aperture Priority mode, that only works for Shutter Priority. Someone in the comments had suggested we do it that way, but we should have done our own research before trying it out! In the end, we were lucky though that some of the photos worked at all, and that we came away with all these watercolors : )

Shooting 35mm Film in Edinburgh! - 35mm Film VS. Digital Comparison
Today I shot on my new Canon AE1 Program, the first time I shot film too. Using Kodak Gold 200, we took lots of shots around famous spots in Edinbirgh such as the castle, the royal mile and Holyrood.
Images compared against DLSR Canon 550d f/1.8 50mm (nifty fifty).

FUJIFILM X100T Time Lapse – March 6, 2020 – Backyard Sky
I used the interval timer on my Fujifilm X100T to capture 13-second JPEG exposures, with 1-second interval. I then batch-resized and edited the photos in Adobe Lightroom and compiled the resulting photos into a video using Adobe Premiere Pro at 24 fps.
I used the WCL-X100 lens attachment for a 28mm equivalent FOV.
Aperture: f/2
ISO: 800
Shutter speed: 13 seconds
No. of exposures: 524

FUJIFILM X100T Timelapse – August 25, 2020 30fps – Mid Day
