EXTREME FLIGHT - Landing on Antarctica Ice Runway

I boarded a Hi Fly A340 chartered for White Desert Antarctica (Tour Operator) to fly to the seventh continent; Antarctica. The flight time from Cape Town to Wolf’s Fang Runway in Antarctica is 5 hours and 15 minutes. Flying from 33 degrees South to 71 degrees South in latitude. Commander Carlos Mirpuri explained the Antarctic flight operating conditions and requirements.

During the flight, the founder of White Desert Antarctica Patrick explained what to expect in Antarctica. As we flew closer to Antarctica, passengers changed to winter clothing and got ready for the exploration. The Antarctic season is from mid-November to early February every year.

The weather condition was good with clear visibility for landing at Wolf’s Fang runway. The runway friction index was also sufficient to allow the airplane to stop during braking. Our A340 landed at Wolf’s Fang runway (71º 32’ 00” S 8º 50’ 00” E) around 1930 UTC time. I was lucky to observe the Antarctic landing from the jumpseat.

The runway length is 2500 m (8200') long and 60 m (196') wide. Wolf’s Fang Runway is operated by White Desert Antarctica and it’s the only blue ice runway. It takes 22 hours to groom and prepare the runway for every jet landing.

After landing, we climbed a nearby Nunatak (small mountain) and were just amazed at the pristine landscape; the white desert! The sun never set during the Antarctic summer. I also visited the newly opened Echo Camp for refreshments before the flight back. Certainly one of The Greatest Day in my aviation and travel memory!

Emergency Landing on Cargo Ship by Sea Harrier - Soapy Watson - The Alraigo Incident

Emergency Landing on Cargo Ship (The Alraigo) by Sea Harrier from HMS Illustrious - Soapy Ian Watson - c1983
Watson was reprimanded and given a desk job. Watson eventually acquired 2,000 hours in Sea Harriers and another 900 in F/A-18s before resigning his commission in 1996. Today, he says that media attention embarrassed Royal Navy brass and caused the punishment, but refuses to point fingers. It was me, he says. I was there and that's where it should stop.

I say good work Soapy! (now a Real Estate Agent,- so I I heard)

INSANE FOOTAGE PLANE LANDING

Insane footage of Plane crash landing into the sea with onlookers staring in amazement
Emergency landing at its best, where the worlds best pilots are tried and tested and as long as they have had enough rest and they are not drunk then you should survive any ordeal. Some of this was recorded on the black box and the recorder was recovered before the plane actually sunk to the sea bed

Crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a Cessna

Trying to find a way to Austria, I catch a ride in a Cessna 210 for a two week trip across the North Atlantic. We fly to remote northern Canada to prepare to cross to Greenland and encounter icing, autopilot issues, plumbing problems, magnetic deviation, and find ourselves north of the Wall. Part 2:

MiG-29 High Altitude Stratosphere Flight - long version 8 camera HD | flight data

Learn more about the Edge of Space Flight:
The famous MiGFlug MiG-29 Edge of Space flight (also known as Stratosphere or high altitude flight) makes the news regularly as it probably is the craziest and most surprising adventure available, worldwide. The Edge of Space Flight - or Stratosphere Flight - has several unique characteristics that can't be experienced elsewhere:

- It's the only possibility for everyone to break the sound barrier
- supersonic flying with a top speed up to MACH 1.9
- Altitude up to 20km/65,000ft altitude
- Insane aerobatics with G-Forces up to over 9g
- The only possibility to fly a modern 4th generation fighter jet
- MiGFlug customers can control the MiG-29

You will reach twice the altitude and speed of a commercial airliner. Up there, in the stratosphere, you can clearly see the curvature of the Earth. Countless stars can be seen, even at daytime - in a deeply black sky. And far below the Earth is wrapped in a blue fog - the Troposphere. A breathtaking - life changing experience.
But how does the MiG-29 climb to these altitudes? It is above the service ceiling of the beautiful fighter jet. The MiG-29 climbs at maximum speed in a huge parabola and overshoots the service ceiling.

After the Edge of Space part - on the way down, you'll get to learn the amazing agility of the MiG-29, and the G-Forces the advanced aerobatic manoeuvres in combination with high speed causes. You can experience up to 9.2g which is very intense.

You'll also be able to control the MiG-29 and fly aerobatic manoeuvres yourself - the MiG-29UB is fully dual control and you'll get to learn how to fly it before during the ground training.

This video features Canadian Ferrari racecar driver, Ferrari club president and entrepreneur Josh Cartu. He dreamed of becoming an Astronaut or fighter pilot, MiGFlug had the honour to make his dream come true. But you don't need to be as famous as Josh is - everyone can fly with us.

Landing at St Barths TFFJ (Pilots View) _ Left Pattern RWY 28 (Part 2)

This is my second landing at St. Barths. Left Traffic for Runway 28. A very interesting approach with a no Go-Around option.

I go over the approach a bit using graphics, but this video is not to be used as a substitute for actual training at St. Barths.

Again, WOW is the word. Enjoy.

Special thanks to Aeroclub St. Martin and Thomas.
