USA ➡️ Serbia DURING COVID-19: FULL ITINERARY TO THE BEST HIPSTER CITY IN EUROPE

I FINALLY MADE IT TO BELGRADE, SERBIA! This is the first vlog from my 10-day trip in Serbia and Turkey during COVID-19 (Oct 2020). Belgrade has always been one of my most anticipated destinations. I've heard many lovely things about it from one of my favorite fashion YouTubers (Tamara Kalinic), and after reading stories about it, I became obsessed with learning more about the history of this beautiful city and its ups and downs.

For those who don't know, Serbia has always been in the midst of wars and invasions all throughout history, with the most recent one being the NATO campaigns in the 1990s. Belgrade alone has been destructed and rebuilt 44 TIMES. I typically don't take tours when I travel and instead I just freestyle my itinerary, but I went against that and took a couple while I was in Belgrade because I knew I couldn't leave without diving deep into the culture and the history that has created (in my opinion) some of the most RESILIENT people in Europe today. If you walk around the city, the buildings seem like a mash up of different eras. On one street alone, you can see one building that was built in the Neoclassical era, next to it a building from the Socialist era, and another built in the modern era. This is because of how many times the city has been rebuilt during different eras. I love and admire the edginess and the grunginess of Belgrade. There's a certain melancholic air when I walk throughout the city, but in the BEST way, because I know that Serbians have been through rock bottom and now they are proud of it. HECK if I were still here after being defeated 44 times, I WOULD BE TOO. If you don't know much about Serbia, just travel here first, then learn about it. Don't hesitate, because you will fall in love.

REGARDING COVID: Serbia and Turkey are both countries that Americans can travel to right now with no restrictions. You do not need to quarantine or bring negative test results. You may be subject to a health screening when you arrive, but when we arrived, no one asked us a single question and we were in within a couple minutes. In Serbia, about 80% of people did not wear masks when outdoors. On buses and indoor spaces such as museums, almost everyone did. My best advice is just to take your own protocols, wear your mask all the time if that's what makes you comfortable (I did this), and avoid crowded places. The positive thing is that Belgrade has such a low number of cases compared to cities in the US (like.. not even comparable), so your chances of getting COVID are pretty slim as long as you are cautious. Just be warned that no one wears masks when out on the streets!

????instagram.com/thewustew

???? Where we stayed:
1) Airbnb - (roughly $30 USD/night)
2) Hotel (on our last day) - ($80 USD/night)

???? Transportation:
We mainly toured by foot, as all the main points and destinations were within a 10-15 min walk from each other. We took the public bus several times, such as when we visited the St. Sava Temple and also when we commuted to the airport. **TIP: To get a bus pass, go to one of the many red kiosks around the city. Ask them for a bus plus. We got the 24-hour option one and it was perfect (around $2.50-$3 USD).

☀️ Weather: Mid-60s F during the day, but cold in the evening. On our last day in Belgrade, it was pretty cold, around 40 degrees F!

????Tours we took:
1) The Alternative Tour of Belgrade -

2) Free Downtown Walking Tour -

???? Music in this video:
- Himalayas Mona Wonderlick
- Free Range Mona Wonderlick
- Memories of Spring Tokyo Music Walker
- Secret to Happiness JayJen

????️ What I Use to Edit/Film:
- Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100
- iPhone 11
- iMovie

????‍???? ABOUT ME:
My name is Julie and I currently live in San Diego, CA. I just quit my full-time banking job during the pandemic and am spending a couple months off before working again. Stay tuned for my life here in beautiful, sunny Cali and plenty of travel vlogs!

Zlatibor to Uzice - HITCHHIKING vs CoronaVirus | SERBIA EP 23

One of the best & healthy vegetarian dishes I had in Serbia was Kačamak sa kajmakom. The best place to have vegetarian food in Zlatibor is shown in this video. Surprisingly the food is not expensive. After having breakfast in Zlatibor I started hitchhiking. This was my first attempt at hitchhiking in Serbia. After this experience, I can say hitchhiking during covid is not that easy. However, there are still some people like Jamil who offered me a free ride from Zlatibor to Uzice.

Serbia Is More Expensive Than You Think! | Visit Serbia In 2021

To experience Fall, I decided to take a solo trip to visit Serbia in 2021 and guess what I discovered? Serbia is more expensive than you think!
I am hosting my very first group tour to Serbia. Sign up if you're interested to join me! -

Just because Serbian Dinar weighs more than Euros doesn’t exactly mean Serbia is cheap! I stayed in Serbia for 12 days and I realized the costs involved in visiting Serbia. I was surprised at the expenses incurred during my trip. I wish someone explained exactly what to expect, expenses-wise, when I visit Serbia in 2021. I wish someone helped in busting the misconception about Serbia when it came to its affordability. If I knew the costs involved in visiting Serbia before I booked my trip, it would have given me more peace of mind. I like to budget for my trips in advance, like most of you do, but this is was a total fail.

Along with explaining how much it costs to visit Serbia, we take a nice stroll in the neighboring village of Belgrade, Zemun. This vlog gives you a quick Zemun walking tour as well. Make sure you visit this little village as it is gorgeous. Unfortunately, since it was raining all the days I was in Belgrade, most of the places look pretty grey, but if it was sunny and bright, the whole place would look so much more prettier.

If you want to experience the magic of Autumn, Serbia is the best place to visit. I was in awe of how gorgeous every city I visited looked.

Here are some of the places we visited -

First Solo Trip Ever To Serbia | Before You Visit Serbia | Things You don't Know About Serbia!

For my first solo trip ever to Serbia, I did some extensive research about the country. So here's a list of everything you need to know before your first visit to Serbia.
I am hosting my very first group tour to Serbia. Sign up if you're interested to join me! -

With the pandemic going on, there have been so many alterations with rules and restriction, it's hard to get some clear information online. So this vlog will give you a run down on all the things you don't know about Serbia. Prior to my trip and after it, several other women travelers asked me did i feel safe in Serbia? And the answer is YES! The main cities such as Belgrade & Novi Sad are always bustling with people. Also, I made sure I centrally locate myself, so that everything is easily accessible to me.

I suggest take a pen and paper or starting typing in your Notes app, as these are things to know before booking your trip to Serbia in 2021. Before my visit to Serbia, I was quite nervous too but all those who've traveled solo in the past, were so motivating and encouraging of my decision. I strongly suggest you must visit Serbia in 2021. And visit it at least for 1 week, so you can enjoy all the sights of this gorgeous country.

Serbia is more expensive than you think!

This video is all about Dubai airport’s connecting flight procedure. I used visa-free transit at Dubai airport (DXB) during COVID in September 2020. Many flights from India to Dubai are now available - Spicejet, Go, Indigo, AI Exp, Emirates. Free Transit is at Dubai airport is also available like before (Don’t need US visa). Even Terminal transfer is possible without the hassle. However, there are a few rules and things to be considered. #DubaiAirport #DXBfreeTransit #IndianTraveller
