Explore the Mysterious Secrets Inside the Vatican!

In this video, we're going to explore the mysterious secrets inside the Vatican! We'll see the famous Sistine Chapel, explore the Vatican Museum and skip the line!

This Vatican tour was a great way to learn about the history and religion of the Vatican. We'll see some of the most famous sights and learn about the mysterious secrets inside the Vatican! Whether you're a Catholic or not, this video is a great way to explore the Vatican!

Vatican City is the home of the Catholic Church and the smallest country in the world. Join us today as we go to our 33rd country, Vatican City.
Italy is truly a bucket list destination for many people, us included but Vatican City has been a life long dream for me. Since I (Mrs. Karnes) was a small child I have had a fascination with the Vatican. Today I finally get to see this dream come to life!
There are many things to see in Vatican City. St. Peter's Basilica, St. Peter's Square, The Vatican Museum, The Sistine Chapel, and maybe even... The Pope! We booked a morning tour with Viator to be sure we could see it all with the smallest crowds.
Our tour group was small, only 12 people and our tour guide was wonderful. After a quick breakfast in the Pinecone Courtyard, we were taken through the Vatican Museum. Our guide was wonderful and pointed out so many things we would have probably missed. The experience was also wonderful because we were the only ones there for most of the tour. It was VERY obvious when the museum opened because it filled quickly making it hard to see things or get good pictures. Again, so glad we went early!
Our trip through the Vatican Museum included The Sistine Chapel, a MUST see when at the Vatican Museum. I was allowed to take some video while we were there because it was so early and the crowds were not yet there. It was dark in the chapel though due to clouds that day. The guard told us to be very quick and only gave us about two minutes but something is better than nothing!
After the Sistine Chapel we were taken out a small door and down the Papal Corridor. This took us right to St. Peter's Basilica and skipped the line and an additional security check. It was so nice!
St. Peter's Basilica is huge. It looks big on video but in person it looks even bigger. It's hard to understand the magnitude unless you visit.
This was an emotional day for me. I really can't explain how wonderful it was to be there!
Thank you for watching and I hope that someday you get to fulfill a life-long dream! Please SUBSCRIBE to see more of our adventures in Italy. We visit Florence, Italy next week! It will be exciting I'm sure!
We know that we are Living the GOOD Life! and we hope that you are too! Salute!

10 Things NOT To Do in Vatican City

The smallest country in the world in both population and size, Vatican City is a tourist’s treasure trove. Due to the volume of tourists that visit, Vatican City has strict protocols to be followed.

1. Don't Come Under-dressed!
The Vatican has strict dress codes for people who want to enter St Peters basilica, the Sistine chapel, or the museums. Keep your shoulders and knees covered, avoid low cut tops, and pay attention to any brands or slogans your clothes may have. Turning up with an “I love Allah” T-shirt may not be a good idea.

2. Don’t Visit in Peak Season
If you can, try to visit between October and March. The queues will be shorter, the sites less crowded, and the weather milder. So you’ll be able to follow the dress code without overheating.

3. Don’t Forget to Buy Tickets in Advance
You can buy them from the official Vatican website but they can be sold out up to a month in advance so when organizing your trip book your tickets beforehand.

4. Don’t Forget to Book a Tour
Sure we all prefer the freedom of “going it alone” but the Vatican palace has around 1400 rooms all full of amazing works of art and impressive architecture so its hard to what to see and what to miss. Which brings me nicely to..

5. Don’t Try to See it All!
It’s impossible so don’t bother. Concentrate on admiring and enjoying everything you do see, rather than rushing about to see more. This will make your visit less stressful and more memorable!

6. Don’t Arrive Late!
The Vatican opens from 9 am to 6 pm, and queues grow as the day progresses so arrive before 9 to avoid large queues and to have the most amount of time possible to explore.

7. Don’t Forget Food and Water
There aren’t any restaurants inside Vatican city, to eat you’ll have to leave Vatican city and come back in when you’ve finished so make sure to bring supplies in your backpack.

8. Don’t Wear Uncomfortable Footwear
You’re going to be walking a lot, the Vatican museums alone create an 8-mile long exhibition so comfortable, breathable footwear is essential.

9. Don’t Visit on a Sunday or a Monday
The Vatican museums and Sistine chapel are closed every Sunday except the last one in the month, when the entrance is free, this means biggggg queues. Although they don’t shut on Mondays, almost all the other museums in Rome do, meaning bigggg queues!

10. Don't Just Approach the Swiss Guard
If the guard is standing still with the halberd and not talking he is on honor duty and should not be approached. If he’s standing with folded hands looking at people he’s on guard duty and may be approached and asked questions.
