Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive headfirst into boat life, and kick-off America’s Great Loop.

Beaufort, SC Is One Amazing Place To Visit
Beaufort, SC Is One Amazing Place To Visit
Stuart and Missy visited Beaufort, SC, in July 2022.
We spent a day checking out the historic downtown and learning about the history of this part of the South Carolina Low Country. We were impressed with the well-preserved architecture and the friendly vibe of the small city.
We also enjoyed learning about the area's role in the Civil War and its recovery afterward. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would recommend Beaufort to anyone looking for a charming place to visit.
About Beaufort SC
Beaufort is a city with a long and rich history. Founded in 1711, it quickly became an important port city, and its strategic location made it a target for Union and Confederate forces during the Civil War.
Today, Beaufort is known for its antebellum mansions, which stand as a reminder of its prosperous past. The downtown historic district is home to many of these mansions, including the John Mark Verdier House Museum, an early-1800s Federal-style mansion open to the public. Visitors can learn about the city’s history through exhibits on local culture and see period furniture on display.
Beaufort is also home to Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, a beautiful park that overlooks the Beaufort River and the Woods Memorial Bridge. The park is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, and it’s a great place to watch the sunset or go for a walk.

The staff is always happy to chat, and they love sharing their knowledge of Southern cuisine with visitors.
If you're looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, the Sweet Tea Bar is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some genuine Southern hospitality.
Is Beaufort SC Worth Visiting?
Beaufort's history dates back to the early 1700s when it was first settled by the French. However, it wasn't until after the Revolutionary War that the city began to take shape. Since then, Beaufort has been home to several important historical figures, including Civil War General P.G.T. Beauregard and novelist Pat Conroy.
The city's rich history is reflected in its architecture, which includes a mix of Georgian, Victorian, and antebellum buildings. Today, Beaufort's historic district is a National Historic Landmark, and its waterfront is lined with charming shops and restaurants.
If you're looking for a taste of the Old South, Beaufort is definitely worth a visit.
How Far Is Beaufort From The Beach?
One of the most popular beaches in South Carolina is only a 15-mile drive east of Beaufort. At Hunting Island State Park, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view of white sand, hiking trails, and a fishing lagoon.
The salty ocean waves crashing against the shore are also a sight. In addition to the miles of sandy beach, this state park also features miles of greenery and forests to explore. Whether you're looking to relax in the sun or explore the great outdoors, Hunting Island State Park is sure to please.

We first purchased a 2019 Fleetwood Flair. We quickly realized that this wasn't ideal for full-time RV living. We upgraded to a 2021 Bounder 35K. In September 2021, we purchased a 2022 Thor Venetian Diesel Pusher from Colton RV in North Tonawanda, NY, and after just a few short months, we determined this RV wasn't for us. Finally, we are in our Entegra Cornerstone and love it.

Hunting Island and Beaufort, South Carolina are two of our favorite places in the southern region of the USA. We love visiting the beautiful, historic town of Beaufort and camping and lounging on the Hunting Island beaches. If you’ve never made it to this region of the country, do yourself the favor and get there asap! Both are a short drive from Charleston and Savannah (two of our other favorite spots in the USA!). This was our last stop during our mini road trip along the Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina coast and it was the perfect way to end a relaxing trip. :)
