Today I explore the beautiful city of Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture.
Onomichi is very famous for the Shimanami-Kaido(しまなみ海道). But if you watch this video I think you’d want to see other parts of the town too. And there’s much more than I was able to show you in the video.
In the video I said “Onomichi is famous for a couple dishes” and I introduced the Onomichi Ramen. But besides that, Okonomiyaki arranged in Onomichi style which locals call “Onomichiyaki” is super yummy too. I tried it off camera and it was awesome. If you have a chance, try it.

The Hilly Port City in Southwest Honshu of Japan is a network of paths connecting 25 Temples.
Adding to the Nostalgic feels and ambience are these small ferries in the port which is fully operational to nearby Islands.

Trivia: The view from Mt. Senkoji was great! It's really worth visiting and It's definitely ranked in the top 3 of my great view chart. I wanted to spend more time there but I was in the middle of transition from Hiroshima to my next destination, Kurashiki so I was able to be there only for a few hours. What a shame!

Exploring ONOMICHI 尾道 | JAPAN CINEMATIC TRAVEL VIDEO
This hilly port town is “Onomichi”, which is one hour and a half away from Hiroshima city by train.
This town is kind of small but there are a bunch of ways to hang out here.
1. Looking around Japanese traditional temples
You can enjoy more than 50 temples here and the atmospheres are more local than Kyoto.
2. Interacting with thousands of adorable cats
According to someone’s estimate, the reason why there are many cats here is that this town has a port and they have come up to the fishes lol
3. Eating local foods
I think “Onomichi ramen” is the best soy source soup ramen in the world.
Other than these, you can enjoy cycling in the location where have been chosen as one of the most beautiful cycling roads in the world by CNN.

On our second day in Japan, we visited two cities in a day, Onomichi and Hiroshima City. Join us as we hike the Onomichi Temple Walk, eat Onomichi ramen, visit Hiroshima Castle, the historical Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park. We also tried one of Hiroshima specialty, the Hiroshima Okonomiyaki.

We went to Onomichi as a day trip from Hiroshima. Onomichi is a charming port city. It is a great place to visit that is a bit off the beaten path but with plenty for tourists to explore. We went to the ropeway that climbs Mt. Senkōji for sweeping views over Onomichi. We then wound our way down the steep paths, stopping at Senkō-ji Temple and encountering a pack of cats which had attracted nearly every tourist in the area! We then walked around the local shopping street, picked up some pudding, and ate by the waterfront.
