I Spent 5 Weeks in IRAN (Here's What I Learned...)

This documentary is long overdue! It highlights the highs and lows (mostly highs) from my 5 weeks traveling around Iran, to 8 different regions and 14 cities and towns. Join me as I take you across Iran's breathtaking landscapes, from the magnificent deserts to the majestic mountains, ancient cities, and bustling bazaars. Discover the untold stories and untapped beauty that lie beyond the headlines, showcasing the true spirit of the Iranian people and their warm hospitality - which might just be the absolute best in the world.

I am not blind to the fact that Iran has been going through a revolution since Aug 2021, when a young lady was killed for not wearing her hijab in public - so I wanted to give my platform to various Iranian women to open up and share their own personal stories about the situation. You can find their interviews at the very end of the documentary.

Thank you for watching, for all of your comments, and I'd love to hear from you in the comments below. Have you ever been to Iran? What are your honest thoughts about the country?

Desert Vibes in Yazd - Things to do & Tips (Inside Iran, Episode 04)

Yazd is located 270 km southeast of Esfahan and has a history of over 5,000 years, dating back to the time of the Median empire, when it was known as Issatis. The present city name, however, is derived from Yazdegerd I, a Sassanid ruler of Persia.

Because of generations of adaptations to its desert surroundings, Yazd has a unique Persian architecture and is one of the largest cities built almost entirely out of adobe. To deal with the extremely hot summers, many old buildings in Yazd have magnificent wind towers, and large underground areas. This is why the city is nicknamed the City of Windcatchers“.

We used our time in the city to explore the best things to do in Yazd by focussing on attractions and spots that are interesting for younger travelers paired with important landmarks like the Jameh Mosque. But we also got to try typical dishes from the region and the famous Yazd sweets to show you the whole spectra of Persian cuisine.

This part of the trip was executed within 4 days - following I list all the places I visited & Things to do in Yazd:
- old town
- jameh mosque
- dowlat abad garden
- windtower in the dowlat abad garden
- art house cafe
- fooka restaurant
- cafe iraní
- silk road hotel
- talar restaurant
- amir chakhmaq complex
- dasht-e loot (loot desert)

This video is part of „Inside Iran“ - a documentary series introducing you to popular and unknown sights / things to do in Iran as well as the Persian cuisine and the super friendly locals we met on our trip from Tehran to Isfahan, Shiraz and Yazd. With this series I want to create a better understanding of the country and it’s people without focussing on politics or religion.

Experiencing Iran: history, nature, backpacking, meeting locals

This was our trip to Iran, spending a few weeks backpacking through cities and small villages. We made the whole trip on a low budget to fully experience this country, doing Couchsurfing, taking local transport and meeting the warm-hearted Iranians.

During these weeks, we've seen some fantastic architecture, met incredibly friendly people, learnt more about Islam and broke down any stereotypes that we had. We felt very safe.

Starting in Tehran, we travelled to the north, visiting mountain villages close to Damavand and the Caspian Sea. We then moved south to Shiraz where we visited the ruins of ancient Persepolis and slowly worked our way back north by stopping by Kerman, the Kaluts desert, Yazd, Isfahan, Qazvin and finished our trip hiking the Alamut valley.

Thanks so much for watching! Don't forget to subscribe.

IRAN: Country and people

Iran is a unique country. In the opinion of UNESCO specialists it is included in the list of three countries with the wealthiest cultural and historical heritage. And at the same time it is not included in TOP 100 on number of tourists. The reason is evident — image of “country of evil”. But one may reject prejudices and look at Iran with his own eyes.

Backpacking Iran 2018

Out of 880 short clips 1/4 was used to give you a little glimpse of this wonderful country. Hopefully this helps you to widen the one-sided coverage created by the media around us. The résumé of four weeks travelling is that we have never experienced such a hospitable population anywhere else. Iranians invite you over to host you, present their country, prepare you delicious local food or just have a little chat to practice their english. Always with respect and friendliness. When hitchhiking one of the first 3 cars passing by stops to help you out. We haven't gone through anyone cheating or ripping us off and it makes sad to see a country like that so isolated. The round trip started in Tehran leading to Kashan, Garmeh, Yazd, Kerman, Desert Lut, Bam, Qeshm, Hormoz, Shiraz and Isfahan.

We want to thank everyone for this pleasurable moments and putting a more objective picture in our head.
