In this video I tell you about the things I think you should avoid in London (in my opinion) and some much better alternatives that will help you better understand the city and visit London with a new perspective. I can’t tell you how many people “down South” grumble about Manchester being an industrial city that is not worth visiting as a tourist. But I was determined to stop by this large city in Northwest England and check it out for myself! I wanted to find out if it deserves the bad reputation it gets.
My husband Ian watches the channel Aidan Eyewitness, which discusses architecture in Manchester, so we asked Aidan if he would show us around Manchester. Here is that tour, along with all the details on where we stayed, what fabulous food we ate, and what else we saw in the city. Including a stop by a famous football stadium at the end!

The Challenge of Building Sustainable Hotels
The major hotel brands no longer own many hotels, they operate them using a variety of agreements: managed, franchised, or licensed. Operation has been increasingly separated from ownership creating a major challenge for sustainability. There is little incentive for the developer to build a sustainable hotel when they are not going to operate it and neither is the person they sell the hotel to. Retrofitting, the process of adding new technology or features to the hotel after it has been built, is expensive. Hotels being built now will still be operating in 2050, by which time climate change will have created a much more difficult operating environment and something we need to address now.
