Antigua Guatemala | Central America Travel Vlog | Things to do, weather, food, and more

See why Antigua is one of the must-see places in Central America in our travel vlog. A UNESCO world heritage site, for more than 200 years Antigua served as the seat of the military governor of the Spanish colony of Guatemala- a large region that included almost all of present-day Central America. First, we talk about the glorious weather in Antigua and some of the positioning of the city at an elevation of 5029ft. Then we walk to the very heart of Antigua: Parque Central (Central Park) with the fountain of the sirens at its center. Then we take a short walk to the Santa Catalina Arch, arguably the most famous landmark in all of Antigua if not all of Guatemala. The Santa Catalina Arch is not just a pretty tourist attraction, it was originally built with a very specific purpose. After lunch at the delicious Rincón Típico, we have a sweet treat at the Choco Museo (chocolate museum) while learning a little bit about how chocolate is made. Then it's off to another of Antigua's famous tourist destinations: the Convent of the Capuchinas (Convento Capuchinas). Like much of the historic city, the Convent of the Capuchinas was damaged during an earthquake many years ago, but it is still the perfect place to escape to when you want some peace and quiet. Lastly, we finish our day with some delicious Guatemalan coffee and catch a procession preparing for the famous Semana Santa. Unfortunately, Semana Santa (holy week) was canceled this year so we feel lucky to have seen this.

We filmed this episode of Antigua Guatemala in March 2020.

Travel During a Pandemic (Guatemala to Mexico) | Central America Travel Vlog

In this travel vlog, we're going to show you what international travel is like during a pandemic, specifically travel through Central America. We were a little nervous to travel during the pandemic but ultimately we feel it was the right decision for us. International travel is definitely different these days, the pandemic has changed a lot of procedures at international border crossings, airports, and during flights. We are staying within the Central America region but nonetheless, it was a long travel day. We hope you like this vlog, please don't forget to comment, like, and subscribe if you want to see what Mexico is like these days (after our self-imposed quarantine of course).

AUTHENTIC Guatemalan STREET FOOD + Attractions | Guatemala City, Guatemala

???? MARIEL DE VIAJE
???? WATCH: Antigua Food Tour
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

On my fifth day in Guatemala in partnership with the Real Intercontinental Guatemala we explored Guatemala City and tried some of the most authentic Guatemalan street food!

Today we head out on a Guatemala City tour where we visit all the top attractions and we eat really authentic Guatemalan street food that you can only dream of.

Our first stop is the Guatemalan Typography Map where you can see what the country looks like with mountains, volcanoes and low lands. Next we head to Zone 1 (the historical center) and visit the central park. There we tried some fresh goat milk, saw the national palace, metropolitan cathedral and then head over the central market.

The central market is the biggest artisan market in Guatemala. We did a little shopping and then went to the lower level and ate some authentic Guatemalan street food. Here is a list of everything I tried:
-Pork Rind Taco
-Blood Sausage Taco
-Alot de Etole
-Tosta de Tomate
-Carrot Juice
-Chille Relleno Taco

Next time you head to Guatemala I recommend working with my friends at #VisitGuatemala

A Solo-Traveler's Guide To: Central America is the 2nd episode to my travel series. With a clearer vision, this video is a little more polished than the first one but still has the wondrous feel of the first one.

This episode guides you through five intense weeks in Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. While this episode does not cover the whole of Central America it covers a good amount for a 5 week journey using planes, buses, ferries, pickups, trucks and hitchhiking, and even horses.

Backpacking Central America Tips and Tricks

For the last two months Nellie and I have been backpacking Central America. We started in Cancun and will finish this week in San Jose.

In this video we wanted to touch on a few of the budgeting tips and tricks we've learned throughout this journey. Specifically Transportation, Accommodation, Food & Drink, and Activities.

All of these things if managed properly can make the journey absolutely amazing and save you a lot of money at the same time.

Nellie has been averaging about $40 per day over all of the expenses including some internal flights, rental car, and activities. I've been a bit higher at about $52 but I put that down to more food and drink than anything else.

It is however possible to backpack Central America at around $30 per day or less if you're really careful.

Hope these tips and info helps and that you are enjoying your journey or getting stoked on the adventure ahead!!

Cheers from Uvita Beach, Costa Rica!!

CENTRAL AMERICA BACKPACKING TRIP | Ep2: Belize & Guatemala

I went solo backpacking around Central America for 6 weeks, travelling through Mexico, Belize and Guatemala.

This 3 part documentary series shows the entire backpacking experience.

In this second video I head inland through Belize to San Ignacio, exploring the Caracol ruins by jeep. Then I crossed the border into Guatemala, staying in the beautiful town of Flores to visit the ancient Mayan ruins of Tikal.

Next stop was the beautiful Semuc Champey, stunning waterfalls in the jungle-filled mountains. I stayed at the Zephyr Lodge in Lanquin which was a fun but dangerous place for your bank account.

How to travel Central America: Guatemala and Beyond

We needed a safe way to travel Central America. Specifically for El Salvador and Honduras, we were happy travelling as a couple for everywhere else on our plan.

We found the best option was to book a tour which took us from Antigua, Guatemala through Honduras, El Salvador and into Nicargua!

This made life so much easier and we had such a great time. Take a look at our video above to see what we experienced and take at STFLY to find out more:
