Europe Travel Ban Explained - [Why Americans AREN'T Allowed]

Who can travel to Europe this summer? ✈️ Which countries are restricted? ???? Is your country allowed? I break it down for you in this EU Travel Update.

Beginning July 1, the E.U.’s 27 member states plus Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein will restrict travelers from countries with COVID-19 infection rates above the E.U. average of 16 cases per 100,000 people.

Every two weeks thereafter, E.U. officials will assess each country’s new rate of infection, circulation levels, and general aptitude in crisis management (I.E., contact tracing, testing, containment, treating, and reporting) to see which countries will be approved or restricted further.

First Tourist to Europe during COVID-19 | 12 BIG Differences

With all the travel restrictions and bans in place, flying during Covid19 is controversial. But when a country opens for tourism, what is right and what is wrong? In this video I travel from Canada to Europe during the 2020 pandemic, and show you some of the main differences along the way. The EU had just opened non-essential travel to select nations around the world, and I took advantage of my Canadian citizenship to be one of the very first tourists to arrive in Europe during the coronavirus pandemic.

Upon landing in the European Union, I was only asked where I was going. There were no questionnaires, no temperature checks, or swabs. I wasn't even expected to self quarantine, or isolate myself upon arrival. (even though I chose to). I was a free man.

I hope this video can be useful to those who are planning to travel during Covid19. Let's Chat in the comments.

EU Travel Ban on Americans

I've been to Europe every year of my adult life. I love traveling to Europe. Unfortunately, now, Americans are banned from entering the EU for travel purposes due to the high infection rate of COVID in the USA. US lifts international travel advisory Against Travel to Europe

US State Department lifts international travel advisory warning Americans from going abroad but Urges Citizens to Reconsider Travel to Europe Due to Covid-19

US State Department's travel advisory advising Americans against travelling during the coronavirus pandemic after more than four months.

✈ In this video:
US lifts international travel advisory Against Travel to Europe

It has confirmed that it would now look at countries on a case-by-case basis.

The US State Department on Thursday issued a new advisory for Europe

urging US citizens to reconsider plans for travel due to increasing cases of Covid-19 in Europe.

The Travel advisory, at the highest alert level as a level 4; Do Not Travel, was in place since March 19th, when the State Department first implemented it as the coronavirus engulfed parts of Europe and China.

On Thursday the department confirmed it would lift the advisory in collaboration with the Centres of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) then issued, on Friday, a Level 3 travel health notice for Europe after the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has increased and a number of reports state that Europe is going through its “second wave” of the coronavirus outbreak.

- Coronavirus Resurgence in Europe

Europe has made great strides with the virus after being the epicentre of the pandemic.

It suffered from a great number of cases and deaths but eventually managed to get on top of the outbreak.

Europe has recorded more than 3.3 million cases of COVID-19 and 212,861 deaths from the virus.

After a period of tough lockdown measures and travel restrictions that were put in place since March 2020, the infection rates slowed down.

Since then, the borders within the European countries mostly opened to each other slowly with a few still retaining restrictions on entry.

The US currently has over 5 million confirmed cases.

The CDC also recommends against non-essential travel to more than 200 destinations due to the high Covid-19 risk.

The CDC announcement comes a day after the State Department lifted it’s March 19 advisory warning US citizens against travelling abroad.

It should also be noted that the State Department issued its “do not travel” warning on 19 March, only three days after it also issued a level 3 advising against most travel.

We continue to recommend US citizens exercise caution when travelling abroad due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic.

Countries updated to Level 3 advisories include all European Countries

- Europe & Other Countries Ban the US from Travelling
- US Travel Ban

With specific exceptions, foreign nationals who have been in any of the following countries during the past 14 days may not enter the United States.

Germany Imposes Travel Restrictions On Europe

Germany Imposes Travel Restrictions On Europe: European Countries Facing Travel Restrictions On Arrival

Germany steps up border restrictions for EU countries

Germany has increased border restrictions amid a new spike in coronavirus cases in the country.

✈ In this video:
Germany Imposes Travel Restrictions On Europe European Countries Facing Travel Restrictions On Arrival

Restrictions have been placed on people arriving from the Bulgarian regions of Blagoevgrad, Dobrich, and Varna.

Restrictions have also been placed on travellers from Romania's Argeș, Bihor, Buzău, Neamt, Ialomita, Mehedinti and Timis regions.

The measures follow restrictions announced that from August 5, travellers from Belgium’s town of Antwerp will also need to quarantine for 14 days or provide a negative coronavirus test.

The announcement followed the Robert Koch Institute’s declaration that 127 countries and four regions in Belgium and Spain were high-risk areas for the new coronavirus.

Antwerp, the Belgian port, is accounting for around 70% of Belgium’s COVID-19 cases.

Spanish residents from Catalonia, Navarra and Aragon were told to quarantine from July 31 when entering Germany after Spain saw a spike in those areas.

The current list of other European countries needing to quarantine when arriving in Germany are:

Albania (since June 15)
Belarus (since June 15)
Bosnia and Herzegovina (since June 15)
Kosovo (since June 15)
Luxembourg (since July 14th)
Montenegro (since June 15)
North Macedonia (since June 15)
The Republic of Moldova (since June 15)

Australian travellers from Victoria state will also need to undergo quarantine or present a negative test upon arrival.

Currently, except the other European/EU/Schengen countries all other travellers from mostly non-European - including the US, have to quarantine for 14 days.

The only exception to the quarantine requirements are:

Australia
Georgia
Canada
New Zealand
Thailand
Tunisia
Uruguay
Japan
South Korea and
China (as soon as the possibility of mutual entry is confirmed.)

Countries not on the exemption list are countries or areas which Germany's disease control centre, the Robert Koch Insitute (RKI), considers as high-risk.

The RKI classifies a country or an area as high-risk when there are more than 50 new infections per 100,000 people over the last period of seven days.

Germany is also offering to pay for any coronavirus test for people entering from high-risk regions for the first three days of their arrival.

The country has recently battled to contain local outbreaks in various regions and recorded over 1,000 new infections nationwide for the third day running last week.

Germany has also reported over 217,000 coronavirus cases in total, and more than 9,200 related deaths.

What are your thoughts on Germany’s travel restrictions? Comment below.
