BEST SAFARI of NAMIBIA: we spotted ALL the animals in ETOSHA!
Welcome to the wildlife of Namibia! This is part 4 of an incredible road trip through one of the least populated countries in the world. However, there is plenty of life on the Savannah! In this video we take you on a family trip by 4x4 campervan and show you ALL the African animals that you can find in Namibia. For this, we visit the most famous safari park Etosha.
Namibia is about 1,5 time the size of France mainly consists of desert landscape. In the previous three episodes we traveled along the west coast of Southern Africa from Cape Town all the way to Namibia. We traveled to highlights like Keetmanshoop, the Sossusvlei, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Henties Bay, Cape Cross and a lot of natural sights along the way. After Etosha we'll head out to Botswana and Zimbabwe as well.
Our journey through Africa is part of a one and a half year trip around the world. We can even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia and the Philippines. Zanzibar and Tanzania are already destination number 21 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for a year. Follow us on this world tour, first in Tanzania, from Zanzibar to the safari parks on the mainland and then to many more beautiful destinations in Africa! Okaukuejo is the biggest and busiest camp in the Etosha National Park. It has a reel resort feel and offers various form of accommodation. It is quite a big camp with many campsites. Each campsite is equipped with electrical outlet points, a light and cement built fire place. The ablutions are equipped with flush toilets and hot water showers. The main attraction of the camp must be the water hole. It is also equipped with floodlights so you can sit into the early hours of the morning and wait for your next sighting. Furthermore you can do self drive as well as guided game drives in the park.

Lets's visit Namibia and go on a self-drive safari in Etosha National Park. Namibia is a beautiful country in Southwest Africa and is the driest country south of the Sahara Desert. Filled with multiple deserts, sand dunes, mountains, savannas, and the Skeleton Coast, Namibia is truly a unique country.
This video is the first in a series of videos that covers our nearly two-week stay in Namibia. First up on our trip was Etosha National Park, a massive 4,760 km2 (1,840 sq mi) National Park in Northwestern Namibia. Etosha means great white place and is a description of the massive Etosha salt pan in the middle of the park. The Etosha Pan is so large it can be seen from space. As the greatest wildlife park in Namibia, Etosha is a must-see national park. Etosha has an astounding list of wildlife include lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, cheetah, hyena, mountain and plains zebra, springbok, kudu, oryx, and eland. Among the smaller species, you will find jackal, bat-eared fox, warthog, honey badger, and ground squirrels. And we saw everything, but the large cats. But we did see baboons!

Seinen Namen hat das Schutzgebiet von einer überaus bemerkenswerten geologischen Sonderheit im Zentrum des Nationalparks bekommen. Die zum Kalahari-Becken gehörende Etosha Pan. Dabei handelt es sich um den Boden eines ehemaligen Sees (“Ekumasee”), der sich hier vor gut 15.000 Jahren in einer Senke gebildet hatte. Durch tektonische Verschiebungen wurde der See von den regelmäßigen Zuflüssen durch Fließgewässer abgeschnitten. In Folge verlandete der See allmählich. Die nach der Austrocknung entstandene Salztonebene ist mit einer Länge von 100 bis 120 km und einer Breite von etwa 60 km knapp 5.000 qkm groß. Das etwa 1000 m über dem Meeresspiegel liegende Gebiet ist damit ungefähr doppelt
so groß wie das Saarland. Die lediglich spärlich bewachsene Pfanne ist in den meisten Monaten üblicherweise weitgehend knochentrocken und weißgrünlich-schimmernd. Der sich darauf beziehende Name “Etosha” soll aus der Ovambo-Sprache stammen und “Großer weißer Platz” bedeuten. Nach einer anderen Meinung hat der Name seinen Ursprung in der Sprache der San. Danach steht der Begriff “Etosha” für “Ort geronnenen Wassers”. Die Pfanne ist so prägnant als riesige weißliche Fläche abgegrenzt, dass das Gebiet selbst für aus dem All auf die Erde blickende Weltraumfahrer klar erkennbar ist. Ebenfalls typisch für die Pfanne sind kleine Hügel aus Salz und lehmiger Erde, die über der Ebene verteilt sind. Die Größe und bizarre, auf viele Betrachter irreal wirkende Schönheit des Gebiets hat die Filmemacher des 1968 uraufgeführten SF-Klassikers “2001 – Odyssee im Weltraum” (Regie: Stanley Kubrick) inspiriert, in der Etosha Pfanne einige Szenen vor besonders spektakulärem Hintergrund zu drehen.

ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK NAMIBIA | what animals did we spot?!
Etosha national park in Namibia is the best place in the country to view wildlife. The name Etosha literally means great white area and refers to its large salt pan, considered the biggest in Africa. However, the main draw for travelers is the abundance of wildlife that you can find here. Etosha national park is home to 114 large and small mammal species including giraffes, elephants, zebras, rhinos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, among others. We saw a whole bunch of different animals as you can see in this video. Elephants were by far the easiest to spot and were walking around the whole park. However, lions, hyenas, rhinos, and cheetahs are harder to see. That's why we recommend staying at least a few days in the park. We stayed 2 days but thought it would have been better to stay 3 days if possible. Etosha National Park has a total surface of 22,270 km², making it one of the largest parks in Africa and therefore offers a lot of amazing self-drive adventures. The park can be accessed through multiple gates as well as there are multiple places to stay, from gated campsites to hotels. Etosha is a national park in northwest Namibia that is well-known for its wildlife and distinctive for having the largest salt pan in Africa.
You have to visit the Okaukujo Lodge, Okaukuejo is home to one of the most popular waterholes in the Etosha National Park. It is instrumental in the dry seasons when the animals have no natural water elsewhere in the region. They are all congregating around the Okaukuejo waterhole. You can sit here the whole day and watch the animals that pass by.

Diese Woche geht's in den Etosha Nationalpark. Unsere Overlanding Namibia Zeit kommt langsam zu Ende und ein Highlight steht an. Ich verbringe 72h im Etosha Nationalpark und sehe sooo viele Tiere. Elefanten, Löwen, Nashörner – you name it.

Olifantsrus, Etosha National Park, Namibia | Campsite Review
Olifantsrus is the most westerly campsite in the Etosha National Park. It is closest to the Galton gate. It is a basic campsite with adequate ablution facilities. There is a kiosk with very limited supplies and some take away's available. You can buy fire wood. Some of the campsites have electricity on the campsite. The hide is the highlight of the camp. You can sit upstairs in a more open air hide and watch the animals from above or downstairs in an enclosed hide and watch them on eye level. We saw some great sightings at the hide.
