I Moved in with a Tunisian Family (a bad ending) ????????

I had the unique opportunity to stay with a wonderful Tunisian family and experience their culture firsthand! Together with my friend Amin, you'll get an inside look at my immersive homestay experience in Tunisia. From savoring delicious homemade Tunisian cuisine to exploring the vibrant streets of Tunis, this definitely was an unforgettable adventure that opened my eyes to the beauty of Tunisian hospitality and customs. I am back in TUNISIA for the second time, but this time just for 24 hours as I regroup before heading tomorrow to LIBYA!

The last time I came here (4 years ago) I was a broke, lonely, budget backpacker and I had a mediocre time at best.

But this time around is a different story! I had this idea to find a random Tunisian stranger from Instagram and spontaneously meet up with him/her to have the BEST DAY we could possibly have.

Let's just say that I think I succeeded, but I'll let you be the judge :)

Tunis to Tabarka: road trip / enjoying life in Tunisia, North Africa (Travel VLOG / Tunisia VLOG)

This week in my Tunisia VLOG I have been exploring Tunisia's far north-west, over by the Algerian border in North Africa. My first stop in Jendouba Governorate was Tabarka, a beautiful coastal resort town in the Kroumirie mountainous region. The drive over there took me through the fertile (and hot) plains around Béja, which have been agriculturally significant since before Ancient Roman times. We then climbed up into the cork oak forests, which look very Alpine and are a lot cooler during the summer months than Tunis.

It wouldn't be a Scafidi Travels road trip without some kind of mechanical problem, but in the end the Mitsubishi and I made it in one piece and got to enjoy the town's main beach, overlooking the 16th century Genoese fortress. I will definitely be heading back to Tabarka soon for two reasons: firstly, I still need to review La Cigale, which is a luxury hotel on the coast that friends tell me is one of the best in the country. Secondly, the beaches around town had some serious surf potential, and I need to try surfing in Tunisia! Life in Tunisia is great!

Stay tuned for more videos of my most recent road trip, as I head south from Tabarka to Aïn Draham, Beni 'Mtir, Hammam Bourguiba, Jendouba, Bulla Regia and Chemtou!

Why is Sfax TUNISIA'S GREATEST CITY!? ????????

Sfax صفاقس‎ - The second city of Tunisia, after the capital Tunis.

It's not blessed with obvious tourist sites and locals told me not to go, but I did anyway. What I found quickly became my favourite Tunisian city. Incredibly friendly, real and vibrant.
