Ekamukha Dattatreya Swamy Temple,Ettipothala,Maacharla Near Naagarjuna Sagar | Daiva Darshanam
#dattatreya #temples #aptemples
ETHIPOTHALA is known for Water Falls and is known as a picnic spot to many people. But it is a place where there is a temple of Lord Dattatreya with Ekamukhi . This place is approximately 15 Kms away from Nagarjuna Sagar Dam towards Vinukona and Macherla in Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh. The Lord Datta here is the main worship god for Lambadi Tribal people around this place. They will beleive the Lord and offer prayers and sevas to him without knowing any manthras.
Ethipothala word became from YATHI (SAGE) TAPOSTHAL(PLACE WHERE YATHIS PERFORMED PENANCE). So it is YATHI-THAPOSTHAL. There as many caves near the water falls which prove the fact that many rishis and yathis did penance here. The same thing is displayed on boards at this place. There is a network of caves that is supposed to have a path leading upto Srisailam. There are some Buddhist sites that are worth visiting.
Nagarjuna sagar Dam is 150 Kms away from the city HYDERABAD. After crossing the dam and travelling 6-7 kms on MACHERLA ROAD there is a board displaying the route to Ethipothala Falls on the left hand side of the road.
Situated on the Chandravanka River, the Ethipothala Falls is a 70 feet high cascade of fresh water . The waterfall is a combination of three streams namely, the Chandra Vanka stream on Macherla, Surya bhaga stream on Nagarjuna hill and Krishna river of Nagarjuna sagar.Hence,it is like a Triveni sangama. The sight of the waterfalls as it cascades down a number of steps is a wonderful sight immediately after the monsoons. Just adjacent to the falls is located DattaGuru’s Temple.
This too is a siddhakshetram. The Dattamandiram is atop a small hillock. The Datta is in His Unmatta state(Unmatta state is a blissfully intoxicated state–the gross parallel which is the state where someone consumes canibis or ganja!)Below the hillock is the Madhumathy Devi Alayam. The Uttaranga mantras for Anushtup are Madhumati Mahavidya and Sri Datta Sahasrakshari
It is very rareto find such a Mandira wherein both Lord Dattatreya and Goddess Madhumathy devi are together.Yogalaxmi devi is there in the form of Madhumathi devi here. The rule here is that first one must have a Darshan of the Goddess and then have Datta-darshana. In this kshetra, Dattaguru is fulfilling the desires in the form of Swapna(dreams), Sparsha(touch), Drishya(vision) and vachasa vidhana. This kshetra is an ANANDA NILAYA for Poorna yoga and Paripoorna yoga. The form of Dattatreya in this kshetra is same as in Dhyana sloka of Dattatreya.
We can see the temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha Swamy in the same place.
At the outset, we have begun with the temples across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states which are ancient with unparallel historical background but remained hidden in spite of having rare kind of structural engineering that kept them distinguished from others.
We are trying our best to unveil the history, secrets and facts regarding those temples. We are quite ambitious to cover all the temples in India and be proud to be part of their development by bringing them back to limelight by facing the challenges of change facilitated by time.
It is an earnest appeal from our side to make us successful in this mission by following regularly this website and giving us suggestions.

దత్తుడికి మారేడు చెట్టుకి కల సంబంధం | Sri Dattatreya Mandi ,Audumbar, Maharashtra | Daiva Darshanam
#sangli #maharashtra #temples #audumbar #dattaguru #jaigurudev
ఔదంబర శ్రీ దత్తాత్రేయ క్షేత్ర చరిత్ర సాంగ్లీ జిల్ల, మహారాష్ట్ర
udumbar is known for the shrine of Dattatraya held in high reverence. It is said to have been built in honour of Nar-sirhha Sarasvati who was a great saint and who is supposed to be the incarnation of Dattatraya. His greatness has been extolled in Guru Charitra written by Sarasvati Gangadhar. Narsimha was born of a poor Brahman couple, Madhava and Amba, in about 1304.
After his thread ceremony he left on a holy pilgrimage and on its completion came to Audumbar on the banks of the Krushna to engross himself secretly in religious mortification during the Caturmasa. At this time it so happened that a Brahman’s son who was dull−witted, overcome with shame at the remarks passed by the people in this regard, went to Bhuvanesvari temple on the opposite bank of the Krushna and prayed for three days and nights without taking any food. But the goddess remained unmoved by his severe penance upon which he cut off his tongue and laid it at Her feet. Taking pity the goddess advised him to go to Audumbar and pray Narsirhha. The boy taking the command went to Narsirhha and falling at his feet received the blessings of the sage. The identity of the saint having been known, thousands of people began to flock to the place for darshan.
At the end of Chaturmasa, when the sage prepared to leave, the people requested him to stay. He only left his padukas under audumbar tree over which a small shrine was erected by a devotee from Poona who also built a dharmashala.
Sree Dattatreya Temple, Narsobawadi, Maharashtra State
Narasimhawadi commonly known as Narsobawadi or Narsobachi Wadi is a small town in Shirol Tahasil in Kolhapur district, Maharashtra. Narsobawadi gets its name from the presence of 'Shri Narasimha Saraswati', the Purna Avatar of Lord Dattatreya. With a lot of archaeological value this became a major pilgrim spot for many Shri Dattatrey devotee. Also, there is a confluence of the two rivers Panchganga and Krishna.
Narasimhawadi is famous for the Hindu temple of Shri Narasimha Saraswati (1378–1458) नरसिहसरस्वती. Shri Dattatreya in his Narasimha Saraswati incarnation is believed to have lived here for as long as 12 years. (Ref. Shri Gurucharitra). The life story of Shri Narasimha Saraswati, his philosophy and related stories are described in Shri Guru Charitra. There are no images or idols here which show his presence. But there are two padukas or slippers which immortalize his great avatar.
Narasimhawadi is a small town located at the banks of Krishna river. It is about 3 km from Shirol Taluka. Kurundawad is the nearest town and is about 2 km away. Narasimhawadi may be reached by state transport buses that available from Jaysingpur and Kolhapur. Nearest railway station is Jaysingpur which is about 17 km from this place.
This religious place is situated on the sacred confluence of Krishna and Panchganga rivers at distance of 45Km from Kolhapur.
Swayambhu Paduka of Dattaguru are worshipped daily. The real third incarnation of Shri Dattaguru, Shri Nrusinha saraswati stayed in this area full of Oudumber trees for 12 years and he flourished this region.
In Gurucharitra, this religions importance is described in the name of Amarapur. Shri Nrusinh saraswati while travelling after completing Chaturmas at Oudumber, reached this place. There were many Audumber tree forests. Due to earnest request of Datta devotees swami stayed there.Nrusinh Sraswati’s stay was for about 12 years at this place and therefore the place got the name as Narsobawadi. Swami established Datta Paduka (sacred footwear).
Present temple was constructed by muslim king Adilshah of Vijapur. The daughter of this Vijapur king had lost her eyes. As asked Bidar Badashah , he came to Nrusinhawadi. He worshipped Shri Guru, decided Navas. The sacred ash given by worshipper when applied to eyes of daughter she regained sight. King became glad.Records indicate that he gave two villages Ourwad and Gourwad on the other side of Krishna river Inam , ownership for enabling worship activities of the temple As today’s temple was constructed by Muslim King it does not have a spire. It is an elongated high building and in front there is large Ghat of Krishna-river and the river is flowing slowly.
There is Audumber tree at the center below which Shri Guru used to sit, and the Paduka are established there facing Krishna river there is a open space in front. The worshippers sit there & adore & worship the Paduka in a sancturay (Gabhara). The door of the Gabhara is very small. The devotee hall in which Paduka are placed has silver metal lining on face portion.
