Cost of Living in Ecuador - How Much Does it Cost to Live in Quito, Ecuador Per Month?

The cost of living in Ecuador per month after a year of collecting costs. I love expat life for many reasons, but one of them is the low cost for the quality of life you get. Of all the places I have lived, Quito, Ecuador has the best bang for your buck when it comes to quality of life vs cost of living. It's one of the cheapest places to live in Latin America and South America, and one of the most beautiful. After a year of living in Ecuador, I'm going through the app I use to keep track of my spending, and I'm breaking down the costs to determine how much I spend on: groceries, accommodations, utilities (water, electricity, internet, phone), transportation (both the cost of a vehicle and using taxis and public transit), entertainment (going to movies, going to the bar, eating out), and others (buying things). In the end, I'll tell you how much I spend per month on average to live in Quito, Ecuador.

Cuenca Ecuador - Budget for Two $2,000 (Cost of Living)

This video is meant to show the quality of life you can experience as a couple on $2,000 a month in Cuenca Ecuador.

Ecuador is affordable, and the lifestyle you can have on a typical Social Security check of $1,500 a month is very attractive. Budgets vary, and many live in Cuenca Ecuador on much less than $1,500 and others far exceed $1,500. We've met people living on under $1,000 while we've been here, so that is a possibility.

See our $1,500 Cuenca Ecuador Quality of Life video:

We get a portion of the rents in the form of dividends, and growth in value with the appreciation
of the properties. We currently have selected an income REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust)

Sam's gonna list the most important factors for a monthly living in Ecuador, in order to help you get a better idea of what cost of living would be in Ecuador in the Andes or at the Coast.(Like Quito, Cuenca, Salinas and so on)

There are some differences between Ecuador's Coast and the Andes, that's why Sam makes a comparison between these two different regions in Ecuador. In this way, you can hopefully better decide where you'd like to settle or travel to.

Ecuador has a lot to offer. There's something for every Expat taste. Ecuador is rich in diversity, has different climates and Cost Of Living. But in general, you can live there on a low budget if you get to know where to make your groceries and other stuff.

Ecuador is also really Expat friendly and has a lot of international agreements in order to settle easier with less paperwork.

Don't hesitate to contact us with any Expat questions you might have. No matter if you've got questions about Medellin, Bogota, Santa Marta or Colombia in general. We would love to support you on your journey.

Do you want to live abroad as an Expat? Are you looking for affordable and viable options? We are exploring the world to see what it's like to live in a country, and also discover if Residency is an option.

We began our retirement in March of 2020 with the intent to travel the world, spending 1-3 months in a country or location. We want to see what it's like to live there and not simply visit, and we want to share these experiences and the costs with whoever wishes to follow along.

Portugal vs Ecuador for Expats: And the winner is…

We're from the US and we've been living in Ecuador since 2017 so it's natural and acceptable for us to compare these two countries to others that we visit. Including Portugal.

Plus, lots of our viewers are considering both Ecuador AND Portugal as a place to live abroad. That's why they requested this video and why we recorded it.

Ecuador is NOT a 3rd world country. That's an outdated term that no longer applies to ANY country. It's a developing country with a lot of potential.

Portugal may be a developed country, but it reminded us a lot more of Ecuador than we expected, which makes this comparison video even more relevant.

There are several things that we really like about Portugal, but also several things that we prefer about Ecuador.

So in this video, we compare Portugal and Ecuador head-to-head on 10 factors that matter most to expats who are weighing their options for a place to move abroad. And the winner might surprise you.

Cuenca Ecuador the Cost of Living (Cuenca Expats Town Hall Part 1)

We gathered together Expats living in the Cuenca Ecuador area to discuss their opinions and views of life in Cuenca Ecuador. We hope you appreciate this unique approach to provide you with multiple views and realities in one video. Part one is focused on the cost of living in Cuenca Ecuador, Part 2 will focus on medical, and safety experiences and perceptions.

Ecuador is affordable, and the lifestyle you can have on a typical Social Security check of $1,500 a month is very attractive. Budgets vary, and many live in Cuenca Ecuador on much less than $1,500 and others far exceed $1,500. We've met people living in Cuenca for under $1,000 while we've been here, so that is a real possibility.

If you are looking for a place in Cuenca use my affiliate link on AirBnb, we do make a commission on this.

Julie and I retired early not by luck but by planning.
One of our spokes to our wheel for savings, and now an income stream
is Fundrise. Basically we are invested in many apartment complexes around the country.
We get a portion of the rents in the form of dividends, and growth in value with the appreciation
of the properties. We currently have selected an income REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust)
which historically pays between 7.5% - 9% annually in dividends. You can chose a balanced REIT which has a split between appreciation and dividends or a REIT where it's focused on appreciation and not dividends.
Check it out to see if it's a fit for your savings, or retirement strategy. Feel free to share this with those you feel may benefit from this program.
