#KorowaiTribeAsmat

The Korowai tribe Papua is one of the indigenous people that still maintain their tradition and sustainable life. Take a closer look at their way of life and belief.
Down in the jungle of Papua, lives the Korowai tribe. Isolated from the city modernity and technology, they live in harmony with nature and sustainably. Though there were reports of cannibalism in the past, the Korowai tribe Papua now has started to leave the practice while still sticking strong to their tradition.
First encounter with the Korowai tribe Papua
Korowai people had just been discovered 35 years ago. In 1978, a Dutch Reformed Church missionary, Johannes Veldhuizen, had an accidental encounter with the Korowai people. Since then, he tried to find a way to search more of the tribe by using a local guide from the neighboring Citak tribe.
In the past, they often came into conflict with Citak people, in which many of the conflicts ended up in head-hunting or cannibalism.
Living in Well-Built Korowai Tree Houses
The Korowai tribe Papua is famous for their treehouses. It was built 8-15 meters off the ground, though there are houses that were built up to 45 meters on a tall tree. They usually use Banyan or Wanbom tree as the pole of the house. The structure uses tree branches, rattan, and sago bark. No nails are used, as they fastened everything using strong rattan ropes they make.

Make a booking with us through our email address: africanaturaltours2008@gmail.com, WhatsApp, or a direct call to +255764415889, or visit our website:

The Hadzabe and Datoga have consistently lived a hunter gatherer lifestyle without ever having to resort to farming, Still leading the same hunter-gatherer lifestyle that has sustained their people for generations, the Hadzabe make use of locally made poisons and ingenious camouflage to hunt.

Amongst the world’s last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes inhabiting the scrubby bushland, Hadzabe men search for food alone, and return home with golden honey, sweet fruit, or hearty wild game when, and if available. Women go out in large groups and forage for bright berries, baobab fruit, and tubers, depending on availability.

Meet the heirs of the very first people, who still have a symbiotic relationship with their environment.

I Met a Real Life Cannibal in India

Grab your 'Just Go' Push Pin Map Bundle!

Hi Friends! I have spent the better part of the last decade trying to meet a real-life cannibal, and I finally have completed my goal here in Varanasi, India. For real! His name is Baba and he is an Aghori man who lives on the banks of the Ganges River - the site where more than 300 bodies are cremated every day and their ashes are thrown into the river. Varanasi is the most spiritual place in India, and for Hindus, it's the holiest place to have their bodies burned.

Baba explained to me the various reasons why he eats humans (spoiler alert: he said the heart is the best part of the body) - and what I discovered will leave you speechless.

Thank you Shubham for taking me around Varanasi. If you need a guide to India, contact him!

AIR INDIA Flying over North Sentinel Island

AIR INDIA FLIGHT AI549 from Chennai Flying over the Restricted Territory of North Sentinel Island 30 km west of Port Blair an year after John Allen Chau died
To License this footage CONTACT: chennaispotter@gmail.com

Check out my Setup:

North Sentinel Island.. Read HERE:

North Sentinel Island is one of the Andaman Islands, an archipelago in the Bay of Bengal which also includes South Sentinel Island. It is home to the Sentinelese, a tribe who have rejected, often violently, any contact with the outside world. They are among the last uncontacted people to remain virtually untouched by modern civilization.

North Sentinel island is not only defended to this day by its warriors but also by rough and unpredictable seas, aided and abetted by a nearly unbroken ring of treacherous coral reefs. The reefs make the island all but inaccessible by sea for 10 out of 12 months and fairly dangerous to approach during the remaining two. The island has long been known and feared by sailors for its manifold defenses. Decades would pass between visits, with the Sentineli living their simple lives dreamily undisturbed - for the moment.

Unrecorded successful landings are likely but they cannot have been numerous. Occasional poachers landing on the island and contributing to the continued hostility of the Sentinelis are a distinct possibility. It would be one explanation for the inexplicable changes in Sentineli behavior from one visit to the next, not too far from downright friendly one time, violently and implacably hostile the next. Shipwrecked sailors may also have caused trouble on the island from time to time throughout its history. As late as March 1970 a wreck was spotted on a coral reef off the SE coast of the island. On inspection it was found to have been lying there for 7 or 8 months. There was no sign of the crew.

At least one escaped Indian convict from Port Blair is known to have made his way to North Sentinel Island in 1896. Two others with him were drowned on the reefs surrounding the island. The lone survivor's luck did not hold: he was killed by the Sentinelis and left on the beach where his body was spotted and retrieved by a visiting British party.

» THE TRADITIONAL FOOD IN MADAGASCAR

1. TSENA’NY TANTSAHA TALATAMATY: Rice Porridge + Chinese Noodle Soup
ADDRESS: Talatamaty City
OPEN: 3AM - 7AM (or whenever the police shut it down)

Four miles outside of Madagascar’s capital city, Antananarivo, lies Talatamaty City. Talatamaty City is home to one of the country’s largest local morning markets, Tsena’ny Tantsaha. Sellers open up shop at 3am, selling everything from produce to fabrics. And lucky for us, the market has no shortage of food to try as well.

????RICE PORRIDGE: Zebu (Malagasy cattle) and sausage are mixed with leaves, ginger, special Malagasy rice, porridge and spices.

????CHINESE NOODLE DISH: Pasta, macaroni, potato, mayonnaise and zebu skin.
----
2. TALATA VOLON’ONDRY: Sausage + Koba
ADDRESS: Talata Volon’ondry
OPEN: Varies

Talata Volon’ondry is a village located just outside of Antananarivo. The village is known for producing sausage and Madagascar’s national snack, koba.

????SAUSAGE: There are typically two types of sausage being sold - zebu sausage and a halal style potato sausage. This snack is frequently accompanied by local rum.

????????KOBA: Lay out banana leaf spines with banana leaves on top. Add a layer of rice flour to prevent the koba mixture from sticking to the banana leaves. Then add the koba mixture, a combination of crushed raw peanuts and sugar. Wrap it all up in the banana leaves and allow it to cook in a bit of water for 3 days.

Koba is beloved across Madagascar, primarily sold on the street or to people in their cars as they drive through a city. The fuel from the ingredients gives people energy and helps them stay full even when walking long distances without and source of food along the way.
????PRICE: Sausage .14 USD/500 MGA | Koba .50 USD/1,756 MGA

Borneo: The Jungle Convoy | Deadliest Journeys

00:00 Borneo has one of the last primary forests in Southeast Asia.

A treasure that makes the fortune of forestry operations. Loggers and drivers come from all over Indonesia to seek the best wages in the country, slaughtering with all their might. Dangerous work carried out under extreme conditions. Massive deforestation has disfigured the region to the point of endangering the wildlife and indigenous peoples who live there. Borneo, the fourth largest island in the world, has become the symbol of this unequal struggle against the big companies which exploit its wealth to the detriment of its inhabitants, its fauna and its flora.

03:08 The island is shared by Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei
04:50 All Borneo inhabitants are armed
10:42 According to tradition, every tree shelters a spirit
13:10 Once a head-chopping tribe, now a peaceful one
13:59 Ali sells birds on the market to earn a living
19:48 Borneo is facing an ecological disaster: the island has lost 85% of its primary forest.
21:05 The wood from this forest is considered the hardest in the world.
24:24 With the rains, he has to drive on a muddy road
28:11 In the Derawan archipelago, the inhabitants hope that the search for oil will not destroy the archipelago.
32:37 The inhabitants of this archipelago are called sea gypsies.
35:30 With his load of wood, the road becomes perilous
41:00 To transport the logs, they float them
44:55 But sometimes the forest reclaims the land, erasing all human traces.

Entering the Yali Tribe: Papua

Yali tribe Papua living deep in the mountains to the east of Baliem Valley, West Papua. To reach them, we have to fly by chartered flight to Angguruk or Kosarek. From these villages, we will have to walk through the mountainous terrain, crossing the river by using a single log. Most of the trail are tremendous.

Yali is the name that the Missionary named after three tribes group living on Kosarek and Angguruk area. The first one is Yalimeck or called also Yalimek or Meck peoples (some peoples called them Smeck), secondly is Yalimo, and then third one is Yalimbok. Among the outsiders, they are all known as Yali peoples.

Because of their isolated home, the Yali tribe Papua are more traditional than the Asmat people. A very distinctive things make the Yali peoples different from the other sub clan, is, the Yali men wear rattan loop along their waist.

Their main food staple is the sweet potatoes supplemented with pork or otheer flesh if available. Beside farming, they also do some hunting.
