EXOTIC Southern INDIAN FOOD - 10 Unique Dishes at Ulavacharu Restaurant | Hyderabad, India

???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

In November of 2018, I went on the most epic trip of my life: a 21-day-long trip to India, a country I fell in love with the first time I visited just eleven months earlier. This time, I went with my good friend Sam, and we set out to explore seven cities in different parts of the country.

The second city of our trip, Hyderabad, is well known all over the world for its amazing cuisine, so the two of us decided to visit one of the city’s most popular restaurants, Ulavacharu, to try some of the best southern Indian food in Hyderabad!

Ulavacharu is an authentic traditional cuisine restaurant that has won over millions of hearts of visitors from all over the world. This popular restaurant operates with the goal of reinventing long-forgotten recipes; bringing authentic, unique, and original dishes together under one roof; and keeping ancient dishes that were prepared by their ancestors alive for current and future generations.

First up was a creamy and buttery complimentary Indian sweet that contained caramel. It was very sweet and I only ate one!

Our first main dish was the Korameenu Tandoori Fish, which is made with masala and other spices and served alongside a mint chutney. It wasn’t as soft or flaky as a regular fish and actually reminded me of mutton, texture-wise, but it was fantastic! The smoky tandoori flavor paired really well with the mint of the chutney. If you order this, just be sure to look out for stray bones or spines that may not be removed during the fileting process!

Next up was Bangla Kodi, which is small nuggets of chicken masala wrapped in a potato. It was really good! Crunchy and not too spicy, just a little peppery, and reminded me of popcorn chicken wrapped in a crunchy potato.

Next, we had the Royyala Vepudu, which are river prawns with masala, cilantro, and a spicy green chili. It was very spicy, chewy, had a wonderful texture, and I loved it! They were the best prawns I’ve ever had!

Next was the bamboo chicken, one of the most exotic dishes I’ve ever seen! The raw chicken is cooked inside a sealed piece of bamboo and sprinkled with masala spices. It gave the chicken a strong bamboo taste, and was outstanding! Sam loved it, too!

Our next dish was Kona Seema Kodi Vepudu, a spicy fried chicken. Visually, it reminded me of Nashville fried chicken. It was super tender and slightly spicy, except for one bite where I caught a lot of spice!

To cool down my mouth, I went with some rose milk, a super sweet milk with cashews, pistachios, and almonds that has a lot of rose flavor infused in it. This was definitely one of my favorite rose-infused drinks I’ve ever had!

Our next dish was Pandu Marayapaka, a type of vegetable kebab with a flavorful and tangy sauce that reminded me of orange chicken. It was fantastic!

Next, I tried Ulavacharu’s signature dish, Raju Gari Kodi Pulao, a steamed rice dish that contains vegetables, tender chunks of chicken, spices, and a hard-boiled and deep-fried egg on top. It was very moist and reminded me of a risotto or a paella. I tried it with two different chutneys and a red, peppery sauce, and all three were very unique and so good!

Up next was the Matka Mamsam Pulao, another rice dish that was served in a clay pot. This one contained mutton (lamb) and before I could even taste it, the aroma of the meat with all of the spices had my mouth watering. It was the butteriest, most tender lamb I’ve ever had!

Sam tried the next dish, Gadwal Kodi Pulao, a chicken-based rice dish with tomatoes that sits on top of an omelet! It wasn’t as spicy as the other pulaos, and was lighter, and the omelet was a nice addition.

The last dish of the night was Guthi Vankaya Pulao, a veg pulao with an eggplant on top. The sauce was very light and wasn’t spicy at all. I loved the eggplant, and the sauce mixed with the rice was out of this world!

In a relatively short span of under four years, her restaurant has carved out a significant niche for itself with its offerings that are built around the promise of “tasty fare at prices that offer maximum value”. AUTHENTIC Southern Indian THALI at Taj Mahal Restaurant | Hyderabad, India

I have been in love with India ever since the first time I visited back in January of 2018. Eleven months later, in November, I spent nearly three weeks experiencing the rich history, fascinating culture, friendly people, and mouthwatering food of this beautiful and charming country. This time, I teamed up with my buddy Sam, and we had the time of our lives!

Subscribe to Sam & Audrey:

Rakesh:

Our third day in Hyderabad with our friend Sailesh continued as we made a stop at Taj Mahal Restaurant for an authentic southern Indian Thali. A Thali is a large platter that is filled with different Indian dishes, including breads, rice, chutneys, and various curries. Sailesh explains to me that while northern Indian Thali's contain lots of breads, the Thali's in southern India are mostly rice-based. Come along with us as we eat some amazing southern Indian Thali!

My Film Making Kit ►

This Thali looked amazing and included various dishes made of potato, carrot, vada soaked in curd, as well as puri, yogurt, flavored rice, fried onion fritters, corn, sambar, and more. I couldn’t wait to dive in!

The first thing I tried was the fried onion, which was delicious! The corn dish was super fresh and contained carrots, cabbage, and coconut. It was so good and really unique! Next, I tried a piece of the puri with a dish made of spinach, cabbage, and nuts. The puri was thicker than the one I’d had for breakfast that morning, and the dish was really nice. The next curry I tried contained green beans, carrots, and peppers, and was one of the best curries I’d ever had! It was crunchy and super flavorful.

Next, we added the rice to our plates, added the dal to some of it, mixed it with our fingers, and then ate it with our hands. I’d never eaten rice with my hands, but it was awesome! It was super light, not spicy at all. Next was the tomato rasam with a very thin and crispy flatbread called papad. The combination was unreal! These two foods were made to be eaten together! Next up was the rice with sambar and lots of vegetables. It was so tasty! The mix of the soft rice, flavorful sambar, and crispy papad was out of this world! Next was the curd, which I’m not really a fan of, but we added a spicy mango pickle to it. The curd was super thick!

Up next was a yellow rice dish called pulihora, which came with a dark green chili, but it wasn’t hot. That was followed by the vada soaked in a watered-down curd. It was really nice! This curd was less thick than the previous one. It had a little bit of cardamom in it, and I liked it more than the other one. It kind of reminded me of a watery rice pudding. This was so different from a northern Thali, but just as delicious.

After that, it was time for Sam to try everything with our friend Rakesh! He loved mixing everything with his hands, especially the curd, rice, and carrot curry!

I hope you enjoyed watching me, Sam, Sailesh, and Rakesh enjoy this incredible southern Indian Thali! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below! And please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already so you don’t miss out on any of my upcoming food and travel content!

American REACTS to 201 Indian STREET FOOD Dishes | From Around INDIA!

MIND BLOWING Caribbean FUSION CUISINE at Tacos & Tattoos | Miami, Florida

Hey everyone! I’m back home in Miami after an epic, 3-week-long trip to India. I recently heard about an awesome and eclectic local restaurant called Tacos & Tattoos, which serves New American cuisine with Caribbean influences. I love tacos and I have tattoos, so I knew I had to check it out! Come along with me and let’s have some delicious and unique food!

My Film Making Kit ►

This funky, family-owned restaurant wears its uniqueness like a badge of honor, from an exciting name that perfectly describes what to expect when you walk in, to the artwork depicting characters from popular animes and the Marvel universe on its walls. Even the tables are decked out in tattoo-inspired artwork created by the owner, Jonathan Cruz, his friends, and other local artists. This place is all about family and culture, and it’s easy to see how proud Jonathan is of his restaurant.

In addition to several amazing menu items, Tacos & Tattoos also offers a big selection of craft beers, with 12 different drafts and 30 bottled beers to choose from, including many that are from right here in Miami.

Here’s what I tried at Tacos & Tattoos!

-Craft Beer

I started off my meal with a local craft beer called the Poquito Stout, which comes from a local brewery called Wynwood Brewing Co. It’s an incredible stout, and is high in alcohol.

-Tostones Rellenos

The first food I tried was the Tostones Rellenos, which is a fried plantain that is topped with shrimp, pico de gallo, pickled cabbage, and garlic aioli. The aioli was amazing and I loved the contrast between the hard, fried plantain and the shrimp. One dish in and I was already blown away!

-Buffalo Chicken Taco

Next, I went with the Buffalo Chicken Taco, which also contains bacon, melted cheese, and, of course, buffalo sauce. It was crunchy and juicy, and had a little bit of heat from the buffalo sauce. The crispy bacon with the cheese was outstanding, and the flavors and textures were next level. This is one of my favorite tacos of all time!

-Elote

I took a quick break from the tacos and decided on the Elote next, which is Mexican-style corn on the cob, which is spread with crema Mexicana and then sprinkled with queso cotija and Cajun seasoning. The spices they sprinkled it with truly blew my mind, and the crema was out of this world! I love corn, and I couldn’t help but dip the whole thing back in the crema and enjoy every single bite. One of my favorite elotes I’ve ever eaten. It was phenomenal!

-Pork Belly Taco

After a quick sip of Poquito Stout of cleanse my palette, I dug into the Pork Belly Taco, which comes with fried pork belly with charred pineapple, garlic aioli, cilantro & queso fresco. I loved the mix of the crispy, salty pork belly with the sweet pineapple, which was such a refreshing addition.

-Chicken Taco
And last but not least was the Chicken Taco, which is served with a mountain of pickled cabbage, pico de gallo, fresh cilantro, spicy mayo and queso cotija on top. The pico de gallo was really refreshing. Of the three tacos I had, this one felt very tropical and reminded me of Puerto Rico.

I hope you enjoyed coming along with me to try the outstanding food at Tacos & Tattoos! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below so we can chat about these awesome burgers. And please subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss out on any of my upcoming food and travel content!

DROOL WORTHY Indian STREET FOOD Tour + Attractions on Necklace Road | Hyderabad, India

There is no place in the world like India. After I visited this magical country for the first time in January of 2018, I fell in love with it and knew I had to go back, so I bookended my year with a second trip in November so I could explore more cities, historical sites, and street food. I linked up with my friend Sam and the two of us ate and explored our way through Pune before we arrived in the second city of our 7-city tour, Hyderabad!

Subscribe to Sam & Audrey:

On our first day in Hyderabad, Sam and I decided to check out Necklace Road around Sagar Lake, the biggest lake in the city, to visit some attractions before trying more mouthwatering street food! Come join us as we explore the incredible city of Hyderabad!

My Film Making Kit ►

We started off with a quick carbonated lime drink by the roadside. It was sour, salty, refreshing, and a little peppery! Then, we tried some roasted peanuts from another roadside vendor. They were wrapped in a cone made out of newspaper and were a nice snack to hold me over until our food tour later!

Next, we headed off to catch a ferry to the giant Buddha statue that stands in the middle of Sagar. The price to get into the park where you catch ferry is very reasonable, just 20 rupees, but Sam and I had to pay a thousand rupees each because we both had cameras, and we weren’t too happy about it. It cost another fifteen rupees to catch the ferry. We donned our life jackets once onboard, and after a few selfies with some fellow passengers, we set off to visit the largest monolithic Buddha statue in the world!

In 1990, this Buddha statue tipped over, a hundred feet off the shore, as it was being moved, and unfortunately ten people were killed. Two years later, in 1992, the Buddha was pulled out of the water and placed on the island where it stands today. This Buddha statue is massive and absolutely gorgeous, and has lots of intricate carvings around its base. After a quick 15 minutes at the Buddha statue (and several more selfies with some awesome fans), we boarded the ferry again for the trip back to shore.

Back on shore, we tried some papdi chaat and samosa chaat, two popular snack around the Indian subcontinent. Both contain chickpeas, onions, and mint and tamarind chutneys. The difference between the two is that the samosa chaat contains broken pieces of samosa, a baked or fried dish with a savory filling, as its base. The samosa chaat was sweet, sour, crunchy, and a little spicy, and the papdi chaat was basically the same, just without the samosa pieces. So good, and so inexpensive at just 60 rupees each.

Next, I tried a kulfi, and Indian ice cream that’s made with milk, almonds, pistachios, and saffron, and has a texture that’s like a mix of ice cream, yogurt, and sorbet. It was super nutty and creamy and so delicious!

After another encounter with some amazing fans, Sam and I headed to the Hindu temple of Birla Mandir, a white marble temple that is built around a giant rock and overlooks Sagar Lake. It’s the most popular temple in Hyderabad. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go inside with our cameras and phones, but it’s definitely a must-see when you come to this city!

If you enjoyed me and Sam showing you some of the cool things you can see in Hyderabad, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment! I love chatting with you guys about food and travel. 1. Tower Burger (Amour de Miami):

This massive burger is an absolute monster. The river of cheese fondue that’s poured on top makes it a rich and decadent treat!

2. Elote (Tacos and Tattoos):

I’ve had this Mexican corn on the cob dish before, but none of them were as good as this creamy, spicy, and mouthwatering version!

3. The Yardbird (Spring Chicken):

This juicy and tender fried chicken sandwich with Duke’s mayo and pickles is one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had!

4. Lobster Mac & Cheese (Yardbird):

This was one of the cheesiest and creamiest lobster macs I’ve ever had, and one of the prettiest, with a gorgeous presentation including a whole lobster!

5. Swolf Burger (Clutch Burger):

With a waygu beef patty, chorizo, and seared pork belly, this fatty, juicy burger is perfect for any meat lover. It’s one of my favorite burgers ever!

6. Nutella Obleah (Amazonica):

This Colombian treat with Nutella and shredded coconut spread between two thin wafers was a pleasant surprise and a flavorful snack everyone should try!

7. Fish Molee (Ayesha Pinecrest):

This flaky and tender dish from the Indian state of Kerala is fresh and bursting with flavor. Its sauce was so good I wanted to drink it!

8. Star Luca Pizza (Mister O1):

This spicy salami and large dollops of ricotta cheese baked into this pizza’s crust make for an unreal flavor and texture combination!

9. Cachapa (Budare Bistro):

This warm corn pancake with white cheese and sour cream is one of my all-time favorite Venezuelan breakfast foods, and the ones at Budare Bistro are outstanding!

Imagine adding eggs, bacon, hash browns, and maple syrup to a tender, juicy burger. That’s what this burger is, and it is sensational.

11. Saag Paneer (Bollywood Masala):

This cottage cheese dish that’s served in a flavorful creamy spinach sauce is a popular dish in India, for good reason. This version was absolute perfection!

These deep-fried root vegetable tots that are topped with vaca frita, garlic, and two different mayos are flavor and texture bombs! They are fantastic!

13. Papaya Salad (Sansara):

This chilled, bright salad, mixed with the salty, fatty pork belly was like if Thailand and Cuba got married right on my place. They paired so well together!

14. Rock Shrimp Pizza (Harry’s Pizzeria):

This unusual pizza featuring rock shrimp, Manchego cheese, scallions, and lemon took me back to my time in Greece and had me at a loss for words!

SWEET & SAVORY Indian STREET FOOD Tour of Charminar | Hyderabad, India

In November of 2018, I embarked upon the most epic trip of my career: a 21-day, 7-city trip to India with my good friend Sam. It was the second time that year that I visited the country. The first was in January, and it changed my life. For months I dreamed of going back and experiencing more of this incredible country, and I finally made it happen! After a whirlwind 36 hours in Pune, we made our way to Hyderabad and went crazy, filming, eating, and experiencing as much as we possibly could!

Subscribe to Sam & Audrey:

Our second day in Hyderabad continued with a visit to the city’s Old Town, which includes the famous monument and mosque known as Charminar, and of course, more local eateries! Come along with us as we explore the Old Town of Hyderabad!

My Film Making Kit ►

Sam and I started off with a stop at Nimrah Café and Bakery, a popular spot that is famous for its tea and biscuits. We watched the bakers make the biscuits in the kitchen, and then tried a massive tray filled with 25 different types, including Osmania, coconut with cherry, and chocolate-cashew. The coconut with cherry was rich and sweet and packed with shredded coconut. The chocolate-cashew was flaky and crumbly and just plain phenomenal, and I also had an awesome sugar sandwich cookie with cream and lemon, and that’s coming from someone who isn’t a big biscuit fan!

Next, we tried Nimrah’s famous Irani Chai, which was milky, frothy, and bursting with amazing flavors including ginger and cinnamon. The biscuits were even better when I dipped them into the chai.

Our next destination was Charminar (which translates to “four minarets,” after the monument’s four ornate towers, which are supported by four grand arches), a monument and mosque that was built in 1591 and is listed as an archaeological and architectural treasure by the Archaeological Survey of India. It cost us 300 rupees, over ten times the rate for locals, to get into Charminar, but after we slowly ascended the narrow, winding staircase and emerged onto a balcony overlooking the city, it was worth it. From there, we had a spectacular view of much of the city, including the gates that served as the entrance to the Old City. The architecture was gorgeous!

After a quick selfie with a fan at Charminar, it was off to Milan Juice Centre for some juices and fruit salad so we could cool down from the 95-degree heat! I had a drink called a Mango Malai, which is a super fatty smoothie made from heated whole milk and yogurt. It was very rich, but also very good and just what I needed to cool off!

Our next stop was Al-Akbar Fast Food Corner, where we tried boneless Chicken 65 and ginger chicken along with some parathas. The chicken 65 was kind of like masala chicken nuggets. It was chewy with a slightly crunchy exterior, and I absolutely loved the masala flavor! The ginger chicken was bursting with ginger flavor, had an orange-ginger sauce on it. It was hot, super tender, and absolutely delicious, and the paratha was out of this world when I dipped it into the spicy orange-ginger sauce!

Our final stop of the afternoon was Matwale Doodh Ghar, where we got some lassi, a creamy, traditional Indian yogurt drink, which was the perfect way to cool down my mouth after that spicy chicken and from the heat outside! On our way there, Sam and I got a complete sensory overload as we strolled down the streets of Old Hyderabad in the shadow of Charminar. There are tons of vendors everywhere, the city is so busy, and there’s always tons of things going on around you.

My lassi was super thick and creamy, almost like a chunky yogurt with a bit of raspberry. It was so refreshing and exactly what I needed after a long afternoon under the hot Indian sun!

If you liked this video of our street food and attraction tour of the Charminar area of Hyderabad, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below! Let’s chat! And please subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss out on any of my future food and travel videos!

SWEET & SAVORY Indian STREET FOOD Tour of Charminar | Hyderabad, India

Elevated INDIAN FOOD You MUST TRY at Moksha Indian Brasserie | Fort Lauderdale, Florida

In October of 2019, I had the pleasure of heading north from Miami to East Fort Lauderdale, where my father and I enjoyed some unbelievable elevated Indian food at Moksha Indian Brasserie! Come along with us on our elevated Indian food experience!

FEATURED:
Moksha Indian Brasserie:
Tomas:

We began our elevated Indian food experience outside Moksha Indian Brasserie, which sells reimagined Indian food with a twist! It’s run by a chef that come from a Michelin Star restaurant from Mumbai and NYC, so his food is incredible. His food encompasses all of India!

We started with three appetizers: crab sagoo (crab meat with coconut milk, curry leaves, and madras spices), scallops moilee (grilled scallops with poppy seeds, ginger, turmeric, and moilee sauce), and ghatti murgh (chicken with crisp noodles, spices, a fried egg, and a Maharashtrian chili concoction). They all looked incredible!

We also watched them make paneer flambé, which they torched right in front of us!

We started with the scallops, which had a light curry on them. They were cooked to perfection! The curry was incredible and good enough to have by itself. It was my first time having a scallop in an Indian restaurant.

Next up was the crab sagoo, which was like a crab salad with peas and corn with chips. We used the chips to dip. There were nice, pure chunks of crab. There were no fillers in it. It was so tasty! It was tasty but not heavy.

Next was the paneer flambé, which was so good and kind of spicy! It contained baby corn and reminded me of an Indo-Chinese dish. I loved the presentation and the flavorful kick! I loved the paneer. The vegetarian dishes in India are so fire!

The ghatti murgh was next. It was like spicy chicken with scrambled eggs! The crispy noodles and the yolk running throughout was excellent. I was filling up on appetizers! They were too addictive!

I got to meet the chef, Chef Christopher, in the kitchen, as he prepared our next courses. He uses about 14 spices in the kitchen as well as some blends. He also had some ghost peppers!

Back at the table, we had 4 entrees, 2 rices, and 2 breads. They included zaffran lobster (lobster tail with saffron and a butter reduction), angarey tandoori chicken (chicken with garam masala, yogurt, and Kashmiri chilies), raan e dum pukht (lamb shank with spices and Kashmiri chilies), and sorisha mach (tandoori smoked mustard salmon with potatoes and dill). We also had a spicy naan, rosemary naan, saffron rice, and basmati rice.

We went for the zaffran lobster first, which was served inside a coconut! It had lots of huge chunks of lobster. It was super fresh and I loved the curry. It was full of spices and seafood flavor. It was phenomenal! It’s made with pureed coconut meat instead of the milk!

I also loved the Rajasthan Hara Musallam. I could taste the chilies. I was loving the spices so much. It was fantastic with the rice!

I tried the spicy bullet naan next. It’s best to dip it into any sauce. The salmon had peppers, cauliflower, carrots, and broccoli. I loved it! It was buttery and came with a delicious pea puree!

Next was the lamb shank, which came in a thick, fresh, and creamy curry that blew my mind. The meat fell right off the bone. I went in to get some marrow but got a mouthful of delicious fat!

We ended with two lassis: a mango lassi and a strawberry lassi. I’d never had a strawberry lassi! We also had paan ice cream with cardamom. It tasted just like paan. It gives you a jolt of energy and looks like pistachio ice cream!

The strawberry lassi was different and really good! It wasn’t too sweet or thick. It was perfect!

What an epic meal! The scallops, lobster, and lamb were my favorites.

I hope you enjoyed coming with us to Moksha Indian Brasserie!

SCRUMPTIOUS Southern INDIAN Breakfast + Golconda Fortress Tour | Hyderabad, India

???? SAM:
???? WATCH: Indian Veg Food
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

I fell in love with India the first time I visited the country in January of 2018. Eleven months later, in November, I embarked upon on the most epic trip of my life: a 21-day trip back to this beautiful and charming country. This time, I went with my good friend Sam, and we set out to explore seven cities all around the country.

Saliesh:
Rakesh:

Our time in Hyderabad was flying by, and on the morning of our third day in the city, we got up early to do some more exploring, eat some more incredible food, and check out an amazing nearby fortress with our buddy Sailesh. Come along with us as we continue our exploration of Hyderabad!

Our third day in Hyderabad started with a scrumptious southern Indian breakfast at Minerva Coffee Shop, a 29-year-old vegetarian restaurant that is very popular and well-known for its southern Indian cuisine.

The first dish I tried was the Vada, which is a savory, fried doughnut that comes with an assortment of sauces and chutneys. The vada was perfect: flaky and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The coconut chutney was unreal and a little spicy! There was also a spicy, gingery chutney that was really fantastic as well. I loved dipping the vada into the sambar, too! It was full of tomato and onion flavor and was like a delicious soup.

Next, we tried Upma, a semolina dish that contains vegetables and green chilies and was served with the same chutneys as the vada. It was a lot like polenta and was a little hot, and very delicious. I loved it with the coconut, spicy ginger, and tomato chutneys, and the texture was amazing.

Our next dish was a popular, pasty rice dish called Pongal, which contains lentils, peppercorns, peanuts, cashews, and curry leaves and is always accompanied by the peanut chutney, ginger chutney, and sambar. The texture is like an interesting mix of risotto and mashed potatoes. It’s thick and heavy and almost doesn’t feel like a rice dish, but it is incredible!

Next, we had some gigantic Puris, or puffed-up, hollow flatbread, along with potato curry and vegetable curry. You pop the puri and tear pieces off to dip into the curries. It was so delicious! The vegetable curry was rich and full of vegetable flavor, including carrots and beans, while the potato one was a little spicy and had some cheese in it.

Next was Uttapam, a savory pancake that’s thicker than a dosa and full of curry leaves, onions, cashews, and carrot, and comes with vegetable curry and more chutneys! It was like a regular American pancake, but with the rich flavors and contrasting textures of all of the vegetables and nuts. I loved the spicy ginger chutney with it. It was pretty extreme!

I ended my meal with a coffee, which Minerva Coffee Shop is known for. It was almost like café con leche, a Cuban-style coffee, which is usually 40% coffee and 60% milk. I drank it straight, with no sugar, and it was amazing! It was naturally sweet even without any added sugar. It was really strong and it woke me up!

After our amazing southern Indian breakfast, Sam, Sailesh, and I headed off to Golconda Fort, which, according to legend, began as a mud fort around 1143, when a shepherd boy found an idol in the area. The king of the Kakatiya Dynasty ordered a mud fort to be built around the site when he heard about this, and the fort grew larger and became more complex over the centuries that followed.

My friends and I visited the fort’s main gate, stables (which used to house animals like elephants), and took the long and hard walk up 360 steps in the blistering heat to get to the very top, where we visited the Sri Mahakali Temple and could see all of Hyderabad below us. The boulders in the temple area are covered in beautiful and intricate paintings of Hindu deities.

I hope you enjoyed this southern Indian breakfast and fortress tour! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below! And please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already so you don’t miss out on any of my upcoming food and travel content!

SCRUMPTIOUS Southern INDIAN Breakfast + Golconda Fortress Tour | Hyderabad, India

INCREDIBLE Indian FOOD TOUR - Kathi Rolls, Kebabs and Biryani | Kolkata, India

???? SAM:
???? WATCH: Crispy Dosa
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

After I spent much of February of 2018 exploring the beautiful country of India and experiencing its gorgeous sites and incredible food, I knew I had to go back and see more. Ten months later in November, I got to do just that and spent nearly three weeks enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes of seven new Indian cities with my travel buddy Sam from Samuel & Audrey.

Follow Anirban on Instagram:

Day three in Kolkata continued as our new friend Anirban took us around the city to try an assortment of outstanding Indian dishes. Come join us as we continue to eat our way through Kolkata!

We started off with a dish called a Kathi Roll (55 rupees), which is a burrito-like dish that consists of a fried, eggy paratha that is wrapped around kebabs (other fillings are also available). The kind I got contained mutton, onion, and chilies. The paratha was crispy, with egg throughout and super tender mutton. It was out of this world, and was like a large, Indian egg roll!

Next, we set out to try some of Kolkata’s famous sweets at K.C. Das, a sweet shop that has been open since 1866! Our first dish was a decadent pastry that was very sugary and cheesy and reminded me of a Cuban pastelito. After that was another that contained cottage cheese and chocolate. It was unbelievable! We followed that with jamun, a delicious, creamy and doughy ball that’s drenched in a sugary syrup. Next, we had Rossogolla, one of the shop’s signature sweets, which is a spongy, cottage cheese ball soaked in syrup, followed by sweet curd, which had the consistency of flan and had a hard top layer that was kind of like crème brûlée, except it wasn’t caramelized.

Our next stop was Prinsep Ghat, a beautiful ghat that was built by the British Raj along the banks of the Hooghly River. It contains 36 pillars and a Palladian porch and has a very British feel to it. From there, we took a short walk to the Hooghly River, where we also saw the First and Second Hooghly Bridges.

Our final visit was to Arsalan Restaurant, where we started off with fish kebabs, which contained lots of spices but weren’t spicy. They were so good that they had my mouth watering!

Next was an outstanding mutton kebab that was smoky, tender, spicy, and buttery and had tons of different complimentary flavors. It was easily the best kebab I’ve ever had in my life!

The next dish we went with was Arsalan’s signature chicken and cheese kebab, which was bursting with intense flavors from the coal and spices it was cooked with. It blew my mind!

Then, we went with the famous Kolkata Biryani, which I was told is very different from other types of biryani. It contained mutton, potatoes, two different rices, and a boiled egg. It was mild, but incredibly flavorful. The goat meat was so juicy and tender that it rivaled the goat I had in Greece, and the biryani itself was right up there with the ones I had in Hyderabad! And with a bill that only came to 1445 rupees, or $20.31, our meal at Arsalan was a delicious and inexpensive way to end our food tour!

I hope you enjoyed our epic food and attractions tour in Kolkata! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Also, please subscribe to my channel and click the notification bell so you don’t miss any of my upcoming food and travel content!

First Impressions of Thekkady - The TIGER CAPITAL of God's Own Country | Kerala, India

My fourth day in the beautiful Indian state of Kerala got off to an amazing start as my boy Ebbin and I hit the road to our next destination: Thekkady! Come along with us as I give my first impressions of Thekkady, the tiger capital of God’s Own Country, Kerala, India!

Ebbin:

My day began in the city of Alappuzha, where we set off on a 4.5-hour road trip east to Thekkady. Thekkady is a gorgeous, green hill station about 132 kilometers away from Alappuzha. It’s known as the best spot in Kerala to see wildlife, including tigers, elephants, birds, and much more!

There was so much I wanted to do in Thekkady, but first we had to get there! We’d be making some stops along the way, and I was super excited about those as well.

We passed through Ebbin’s hometown, which was super crowded. It’s jam-packed with traffic and people even though it was a small town. As we continued on, we finally started going uphill after passing through more towns. There was more jungle here and rubber plantations. It felt very wild.

We stopped on the side of a rubber plantation so I could see the rubber trees and jars they attach to them to collect the sap. Then, we continued on through another small town. The uphill climb reminded me of the route from Guwahati to Shillong in the state of Meghalaya. We stopped by the side of the road to get an amazing view of pineapple fields, trees, and huge mountains in the distance.

We continued on. We passed through Peermade, the town where Ebbin lived for three years while he was an undergrad. We stopped at My Guest Restaurant to get some black tea with ginger. It was so good and had lots of ginger. The tea had no milk in it and was super hot! It was refreshing, though! It was an excellent cup of tea!

My Guest Restaurant also sold homemade chocolate for 50 rupees/$0.67 USD. We bought some and then went to get me a turban. We headed up a narrow stairway and headed to a small shop, where I got a nice, blue garment that you wear around your waist for about $2.50 USD. I also got a headpiece, which they cut from a larger piece of cloth. The shop owner wrapped it around my head. He gave it to me for free! The people in Kerala are so nice!

We headed back down to the car to continue our way to Thekkady. There were tons of tea plantations all around us after we passed through the final town on the way, Vandiperiyar.

And just like that, we had made it to the town of Kumily in the Thekkady area! It’s famous for the Periyar Tiger Reserve, but spotting tigers is very difficult.

The town of Kumily was beautiful. I saw tons of banana chip vendors. They’re popular among tourists. They had huge glass containers full of banana chips!

We arrived at our hotel, the Woodnote Resort. Inside, I tried a cup of delicious spiced tea, which was nice and sweet. My room was on the first floor. They have 29 rooms in total. The resort is in the center of town, so it’s close to everything.

My room was unbelievable! It was actually a huge suite! It had a huge entry room with a couch, two seats, a rocking chair, a TV, a desk, WiFi, a stocked fridge, and a huge closet. My bedroom had three seats, a small loveseat, and a king-sized bed! It also had an amazing bathroom with a sink and a luxurious shower with a tub! It was immaculate, modern, and super clean. It was one of the best places I’d ever stayed at in India!

My first impressions of Thekkady, Kerala, India was that this place looked amazing! I couldn’t wait to go out and explore it!

Five MASSIVE Cheesy French BURGERS at Amour de Miami | Miami, Florida

Hey everyone! I’m back at home in Miami for the rest of 2018 after an epic, 3-week-long trip to India. I recently visited an amazing burger joint in town called Amour de Miami, a French-American fusion restaurant that serves some of the biggest, craziest, and most decadent burgers I’ve ever seen.

You have to check this place out! Come along with me and my food blogger buddy Elizabeth from Sincerely Miami as we try some ooey, gooey, sinfully cheesy and Instagram-worthy burgers!

Everything in Amour de Miami is French-inspired, even the paper menu! After a quick look through it, we decided on what we wanted to try.

Our first item was the Avocado Burger, which actually has buns made of avocado sprinkled with some sesame seeds. It also contains bacon, American cheese, lettuce, and two beefy patties served on a bed of arugula. This burger was so big that we split it and still had to eat it with a fork and knife! It was a nice, juicy, charred burger with a crispy outside. The avocado added a nice flavor, and it was nice to have beef again after nearly a month in India!

The second burger we tried was a monster made of a large beef patty that sits on a massive breaded and fried cheese patty. The burger was messy, cheesy, and oh so delicious. The cheese was creamy and had a strong flavor, kind of like blue cheese or brie.

Next up was the Tower Burger, a behemoth that contains six slices of thick bread, four burger patties, and a river of cheese fondue that’s poured on top and cascades down the sides. We were overwhelmed just looking at it! The cheese was outstanding! It’s a mix of swiss, cheddar, and whipping cream and was creamy, rich, and so different from the cheese from the second burger. We also had some mimosas with this one.

Our next burger was the French Toast Madness, a towering breakfast-inspired burger that contains three pieces of French toast, bacon, scrambled eggs, two burger patties, American cheese, and is drowned in an avalanche of maple syrup. All of that maple syrup makes this dish! It’s sweet and savory and has so many contrasting flavors and textures. I loved it!

Next, we had a burger that was bathed in the same cheese fondue as the Tower Burger and had French fries throughout, including on top and scattered around it. It was so cheesy! If you love cheese, you will love this burger.

I hope you enjoyed this video of me and Elizabeth enjoying these incredible, decadent French-inspired burgers! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below so we can chat about these awesome burgers.
