Iceland: Game of Thrones Paradise | Reykjavik, Volcanoes, Lava Fields and Snow

Volcanoes, glaciers, geysers and waterfalls – welcome to Iceland! Although the picturesque landscapes are truly breathtaking, the main goal of my trip was to compare it to the Russian Kamchatka region, which shares the scenic nature. Despite the shared beauty, the distance brings differences in tourist infrastructure and environmental care. I traveled all over the island in the Atlantic Ocean, talked to immigrants from Ukraine and Belarus and the former mayor of Reykjavik to find out what’s the difference between the region in Russia and European north. I’ll share some perfect camping spots, travel life hacks and what it’s like to live in cold weather in my new video!

Alaska: Part of America That Used to Be Russian | Orthodox Churches and Indigenous People

Hey, have you tried an eSIM? Get US$3 off your first eSIM data pack from Airalo. Use code ILYA6216 when you sign up or apply it at checkout.

Alaska - the 49th and most Russian state of America. Russians sold it to the USA as an exhausted territory in the 19th century. Later, when oil and gold reserves were discovered here, Russian migrants started coming back. I traveled to Alaska to visit Old Believers communities and meet with indigenous people who practice Orthodox Christianity and look for their relatives in Chukotka. Let's see how Alaska has changed since the sale and how locals feel about the Russian heritage.
