We Tried Egypt Street Food | Must Eat Local Dishes in Cairo
Trying Egyptian Food in Cairo - it's our second day here in Cairo, Egypt and we thought we would head on out to try some of the local Egyptian and Middle Eastern Food.
To get our pallet ready we tried Ma'An Sulta (Salad water), before getting some prickly fruit from a street food cart. We then headed to Felfela, a famous restaurant here in Cairo to have some Turkish coffee, Shorbet 'ads (lentil soup), baba ganoush (eggplant dip), ful, besara and Betinjan Maqli.
On the way to our next restaurant we tried arabic coffee for the first time, hibiscus juice as well as some white Egyptian Sobia drink before trying some home cooked Bamya.
Before we tried the most famus Egyptian dish, we had some Baskote Yansoon as we made our way towards the end of downtown to try Koshari...I am not sure how we had space for desert but managed to squeeze in Konafa, Basbousa and more...we are officially full!

In this video, you will see me 'hunting' for the best mobile network in Egypt. Based on the feedback from many people I chose to buy Vodafone. The sim cost me 150 LE. There are other mobile networks like Etisalat, Orange (formerly Mobinil) and We (Government owned). Talking about the availability of vegetarian food in Egypt, it is not that difficult as it was for me in most of the South-East Asian countries. I have shared my food expenses in this video. Also, you will see some incidents of tourist hassles. The beginning of the video is about a corrupt practice which I found the hotels do in Egypt.

Egypt is full of accidentally vegan and vegetarian dishes but has only a small handful of vegan or vegetarian restaurants. Join us as we visit Wannas Art Cafe on Luxor's west bank, the only vegetarian restaurant in Upper Egypt.
New to our channel? We are GoingGoing.BackBack, a slow-traveling, worldschooling, plant-based, mixed-race family of 5 from Australia and the United States of America.

These events confirmed the idea that was already brewing in our minds - that there was no better classroom than the one our kids were already in - the world.
We sold the minivan, gave away everything that couldn’t fit in a suitcase, and became a full-time traveling family.

Tom Kha Hed 100b = soup with shiitake mushroom, coconut, galangal – excellent flavor, no scrimping here as it was loaded with mushrooms but they were not shiitake but instead fanned out oyster mushrooms? – good sized bowl
Tao Hoo Song Kreung Jay 100b = Tofu, shiitake mushrooms, peas in a tomato sauce – very tasty yet again not shiitake mushrooms perhaps chopped up button mushrooms?
Must have been out that day because on my 2nd visit I had a dish with shiitake mushrooms.
Banana Fritters with Ice Cream 150b = great batter not too sweet – ice cream & whipping cream to contrast the hot fritters. So tasty looking that a beautiful bird came to my table and took up my offer to have some!!
Gang Masamun Jay 190b = Too sweet for my tastes but they did state on the menu that it was a sweet curry with savory beans – the flavor was very good – veggies in it included shiitake mushrooms, dominated by potatoes and no savory beans as advertised – big bowl
Pad Thai Jay 100b = okay but not very flavorful and no peanuts – good sized
Virgin Mojito 140b = lemon/ mint – very good taste but in a tiny glass that was over half full of ice – overpriced for its size

In this video, you will watch me crossing the Nile river in the cheapest possible way. I just paid 1 L.E (3.5 Indian Rupees) to cross the Nile river in a public boat. Again I was hassled by the touts, taxi drivers, travel agents, etc. at the West Bank. I have also shared my experience of tourist scam in Cambodia - Thailand trip. I visited the Hatshepsut temple. I have shared the information about the entry ticket in Hatshepsut temple. I had Koshari, Roz Belaban and Fool in the lunch. So you will see it is not difficult to get the vegetarian food in Egypt.
