SURROUNDINGS
The quinta is within walking distance of the village Vale de Prazeres which translates to the Valley of Delights/pleasures! The village benefits from a restaurant, many cafes, bakeries, stores, chemist, cash point and post office.
The market town of Fundão is 10 minutes drive away with a huge market on Mondays, many supermarkets, cafes, bars and restaurants.
The area is incredibly beautiful with many mature cork oaks, mountain walks, diverse wildlife and is a wild flower paradise through late Winter and Spring.
An incredible abundance of wild mushrooms are harvested in the immediate area through Autumn, Winter and Spring including chanterelles, porcini, black trompettes, Amanita caesarea, Amanita ponderosa, morels, hedgehog mushrooms, charcoal burners, terfezia truffles, saffron milk caps etc etc. These are available to buy at local markets or forage for yourself if you have the experience and knowledge.
The Serra Gardunha mountains give protection from the Northerly winds creating a natural microclimate allowing the potential to grow subtropical fruits including avocados that are being successfully grown locally.
Worst RV Campground Ever // (And How we Saved our Weekend!)

One of our biggest camping fears came to life this past weekend as we pulled into possibly the worlds worst RV campground. While the spots were tight, the sewer connections were not and we found ourselves in a bad camping situation pretty quickly.
After a confusing run in with some of the seasonal campers, we decided it wasn't worth the stress we had to save our weekend - and in this case we only had one option. To hook our Shadow Cruiser Travel Trailer back up and head home.
Currently holding the record for our shortest camping trip (19 hours between check in and check out) it taught us a lot about vetting campgrounds, when to call it quits, and what red flags to look out for when looking for a place to camp with our travel trailer.

This beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath “Barndominium” with an exquisite shop for all your toys is located only a few minutes from several beaches and boat ramps, and is built on 12 +/- acres of “Deeded” property with amazing views of Lake McConaughy.
