Chichén Itzá (en maya: Chi' ch'e'en (boca del pozo) its ja' ([de los] brujos del agua))1 es uno de los principales sitios arqueológicos de la península de Yucatán, en México. Está ubicado en el municipio de Tinum, en el estado de Yucatán. Consistió en una ciudad2 o un centro ceremonial, que pasó por diversas épocas constructivas e influencias de los distintos pueblos que la ocuparon y que la impulsaron desde su fundación. Vestigio importante y renombrado de la civilización maya, las construcciones principales que ahí perduran corresponden al periodo denominado clásico tardío o posclásico temprano (800-1100 d. C.). Fue inscrita en la lista del Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en 1988.
El 7 de julio de 2007, el Templo de Kukulcán, ubicado en Chichén Itzá, fue reconocido como una de las nuevas siete maravillas del mundo moderno, por una iniciativa privada sin el apoyo de la Unesco, pero con el reconocimiento de millones de votantes alrededor del mundo.
La arquitectura monumental que ha llegado hasta nuestros días, que es emblemática del yacimiento, tiene una clara influencia tolteca. El Dios que preside el sitio, según la mitología maya, es Kukulkán, representación maya de Quetzalcóatl, dios tomado del panteón de la cultura tolteca.

Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins, Mexico [Amazing Places 4K]
Chichen Itza is an ancient city with almost 1000 years of history, one of the greatest Mayan centers of the Yucatán peninsula in Mexico. Many great buildings still stand between the Mayan ruins: the ancient pyramid El Castillo (30 meters/98 feet tall), the Great Ball Court, the Temple of the Warriors, the circular observatory El Caracol and more. Chichén Itzá was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and also proclaimed to be one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The ruins at Chichén Itzá are the most impressive and famous Maya ruins, but I personally prefer those at Tikal, Copan, and Palenque, which have a much more eerie atmosphere thanks to the surrounding jungle.

In this video, I am going to explore the Chichen Itza, wonder of the world, situated in Yucatán, Mexico.
Chichen Itza, located at the northern tip of the Yucatán Peninsula of modern Mexico, was a Maya city which was later significantly influenced by the Toltec civilization. Flourishing between c. 750 and 1200 CE, the site is rich in monumental architecture and sculpture which promote themes of militarism and displays imagery of jaguars, eagles, and feathered-serpents. Probably a capital city ruling over a confederacy of neighbouring states, Chichen Itza was one of the great Mesoamerican cities and remains today one of the most popular tourist sites in Mexico. Chichen Itza is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Chichén Itzá is a complex of Mayan ruins on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. A massive step pyramid, known as El Castillo or Temple of Kukulcan, dominates the ancient city, which thrived from around 600 A.D. to the 1200s.

Chichen Itza, Mexico (4K City Tour) features stunning and spectacular aerial, walking, and drone video footage great for travel, visit, and tourism planning set to original music. Chichen Itzawas a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya people of the Terminal Classic period. The archaeological site is located in Tinúm Municipality, Yucatán State, Mexico. Chichen Itza was a major focal point in the Northern Maya Lowlands from the Late Classic (c. AD 600–900) through the Terminal Classic (c. AD 800–900) and into the early portion of the Postclassic period (c. AD 900–1200). The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenes styles of the Northern Maya lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural diffusion.
Chichen Itza was one of the largest Maya cities and it was likely to have been one of the mythical great cities, or Tollans, referred to in later Mesoamerican literature. The city may have had the most diverse population in the Maya world, a factor that could have contributed to the variety of architectural styles at the site.
The ruins of Chichen Itza are federal property, and the site's stewardship is maintained by Mexico's Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (National Institute of Anthropology and History). The land under the monuments had been privately owned until 29 March 2010, when it was purchased by the state of Yucatán.
Chichen Itza is one of the most visited archaeological sites in Mexico with over 2.6 million tourists in 2017.

In this video I reveal the secrets and history of Chichen Itza in Mexico and also take you on a tour of the underground world beneath the Chichen Itza area. We drove to the temple of Chichen Itza close to the town of Valladolid. There are more than 6000 cenotes in just the state of Yucatan in Mexico and my theory is that there is an underground water well right beneath the Chichen Itza (El Castillo) temple.

Flight at the pyramid was cut short, apparently they don't want people fly drones around here. There are no signs posted and when the director of the site approached me he said it was a new rule and I need to have permission first.
I was lucky and was able to capture this little clip it's not the best but it's all I could get before they closed in on me.
