Adventures in Sana'a, Yemen

On today's adventure I'm giving you a quick tour of Sana'a, Yemen. I went to Sana'a a couple of times but this is the last time in summer of 2010. I had a two day layover while flying to Asmara, Eritrea to visit family and I will be uploading more on Eritrea in the next videos. Flying routes to Eritrea is very limited because of the limited amount of airlines that go there. Most of time you have to layover in Dubai UAE, Saudi Arabia or if you want to save some money you can take 2 day layover in Yemen.

By the way, I wouldn't recommend the Yemen route especially to females. Yemen is a strict and dangerous Arab country with foreigners getting kidnapped all the time and soldiers doing random stops on the road and checking documentation. I was often scared that I might get kidnapped or raped because there was not much security cameras in the hotel plus I was venturing out to the city on my own. Well kind of, I had my wonderful taxi driver that was a lifesaver. He didn't just take me to one place he took the courtesy to give me a driving tour of Sana'a, took me to the old city to shop, picked out good stores for me, and even offered to have me over to have dinner with his family.

He also helped me get some good quality Qat or Chat depending on what country you're from. Qat is a leaf that you chew or let it sit in your mouth similar to chewing tobacco but stronger effect most chew for concentration and focus. I didn't really have time to partake in most of what he got me because it was my last day and I was scared I might have a reaction and no one to help me plus I didn't want to miss my flight. Most men and boys in Yemen were walking around chewing this leaf so instead of trashing it, I left it for the hotel cleanup people. Hopefully someone really enjoyed it I was too much of a chicken to take enough to get the effects of it.

Overall I had a good time in Sana'a even though it was a little scary but most adventures are, you just have to approach it with an open mind and it might just turn out to be great.

Please subscribe to my Youtube so you won't miss my next adventure, I promise it will only keep getting better. You can also go to americangypc.com for more information.

Driving around Aden, Yemen - كاميرا قيادة حول عدن، اليمن

When I visited my hometown after 5 years, I wanted to capture my memories driving around the sunny city, Aden.
Although the civil war has torn the city apart and destroyed buildings (as you'll see in the video), Aden city is still a beautiful scene for its visitors.

Night Driving around Aden, Yemen - كاميرا القيادة الليلية حول عدن، اليمن

When I visited my hometown after 5 years, I wanted to capture my memories driving around the sunny city, Aden.
* Part three is well thought off based on your feedback. At night, you will notice something that is not visible during the day which is Power Outages. Yemen is struggling to provide electricity to its citizens, mainly because of corruption. Nonetheless, everything around you becomes all bright and beautiful when the power is back~
