Not everyone is ready to travel again, and not every country is welcoming travelers. But some destinations like Saint Lucia are open and are ready to welcome visitors. It is possible to travel safely if you take a few precautions at home before you fly, while on the plane and at the resort.
#travel #theplanetd

We took a COVID Test before flying and continued to social distance before our flight.
On the plane, we did not sit beside anyone, we wiped down our seats and sanitized our hands.
We never took our masks off except to eat and we social distanced.
Saint Lucia has very strict rules for travel, and we followed all protocols while on the island.

We also made sure to purchase COVID 19 Insurance before flying with Medipac travel insurance.

While we don’t recommend jumping on a plane and traveling the globe we do feel that if you are committed to traveling responsibly and are willing to take all the precautions to keep yourself and others safe, there is no reason you can’t get on a plane and have a vacation.

What it is like on the flight and at the Airport during COVID19.

Flying is a completely different experience right now. Only passengers with boarding passes are allowed in the terminal.

Temperatures are taken before boarding and since we were flying to Saint Lucia and a negative test is a requirement, we had to show our paperwork before check-in.

One the island we wore masks, had private tours, could only stay at government approved hotels, and could only take government approved transportation and tours. Everyone had training and safety protocols for Coronavirus.

When we returned home we had a mandatory 14 day quarantine and could not step foot off our property.
We checked in daily with the government and had food delivered.

Travel is possible during COVID 19 if you take all the necessary safety steps.

How To Travel SAFELY During COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 Pandemic has affected everyone, everywhere! But as far as the economy is concerned the sector that has suffered the most is probably that of tourism. Since the outbreak began we have learned new ways to work, new ways shop, new ways to communicate, and even new ways to learn! Now that it seems clear that the pandemic will continue for at least another year, we need to find new ways to travel or Tourism will be another COVID Casualty.
Here are some tips on How To Travel Safely During COVID-19 Pandemic

1. Do your research
Just as you would normally check your travel itinerary before leaving, you should now check to see if your Transport and your lodgings have anti-covid measures in place. Covid measures should take precedence over others, for example, a room with a balcony that allows for air circulation is now more desirable than a fixed window with a sea view.

2. A to B
Make your trip as direct as possible, and if possible travel by car. Avoid public transport as much as possible. Avoid public rest stops and stop only when necessary, bring snacks and drinks with you to avoid queues, and wash or sanitize your hands before and after every stop.

3. The Great Outdoors
Respiratory virus transmission mainly occurs indoors, air circulation greatly diminishes the risk, so stay outdoors!. If you have to eat at a restaurant opt for one with outdoor seating and at least 2 meters between tables. Choose outdoor activities like walking and biking over indoor ones, it'll put you less at risk and it's better for you too!

4. Avoid flying
As with any public transport, airports are a risk mainly because of the amount of people that pass through them, If you can, avoid them. If you do have to fly, make sure your airline has anti-covid measures in place and that allows for social distancing. whilst in the airport, be aware of everything you touch and sanitize directly afterwards. Most commercial Aircraft have an air circulation system with approximately 50% outside air and 50% recirculated through HEPA filters, even so, a badly timed sneeze is all it takes so wear your mask onboard!

5. Packing
When preparing for your trip there are a few additional things you should add to your list. Hand sanitizer and hand soap, sanitizing hand wipes, water and snacks for the journey, and n95 face masks, bear in mind that an n95 mask is good for about 8 hours of continual use before becoming saturated and requiring a change, when packing, allow for this and the possibility that one may break or get damaged. when it comes to masks the more the merrier!

6. Be Ingenious!
If you're going to see family members try to avoid staying in their home, book lodgings nearby, or hire a caravan or motorhome or just get a tent and camp on their lawn. Remember that humanity's ability to overcome adversities comes from our adaptability and ingenuity, so rather than bury our heads till it all dies down let's use our heads to carry on living!

In this travel vlog we have documented our journey, step by step, leaving St. Vincent and the Grenadines and arriving in Aruba with American Airlines. WATCH UNTIL THE END TO LEARN ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW about traveling and safety during covid-19.

We have been in St. Vincent for the last 4 months and while we are loving it here; we have decided to continue our travels. We are traveling to Aruba, One Happy Island. We choose Aruba because they have minimal covid cases and taking the necessary protocols to keep residents and visitors safe.

We had a long travel day to Aruba. We had a connecting flight in Miami with a 14-hour layover to Aruba. A few things didn’t go our way, and Kenny was disappointed. But overall it was a good travel experience and to share our travel experience.

► WHO WE ARE?

We are Gladys & Kenny, from Long Island, NY. We've always had a passion for traveling. We finally made our dreams a reality. In January 2018 we downsized and take the necessary steps to pursue our dream, to travel full time for as long as we can. We rented our house, moved into our attached studio apartment, and continued to travel on a part-time basis until it prepared us for full-time travel. On June 30, 2019, we left to travel the world full-time. The first stop was Bali, Indonesia. It wasn't a simple decision to leave our friends and family. However, you only live once and we didn't want to live with any regrets. We want to document our journey, so we recently did so with vlogs on YouTube and Social Media.
Join us. It's been one crazy ride so far.

TRAVELING DURING COVID 19 - TEN TIPS

UPDATE! We took this trip and the horse part was cancelled because the tour group is only taking private tours. So the price went from $127 for 2 people to $450 for 2 people so we opted out. Instead, we went to Okracoke Island for the day. That video will be up in a few days. Here is the link for video 1 of 4 in the series:

Traveling During Covid 19 - What it's really like!

#covid19 #coronavirus #traveling
Traveling during the Covid 19 Pandemic is not impossible! If the proper safety precautions are taken, you can travel feeling safe and secure. We recently traveled from Sweden to Greece during Covid 19 and did not experience any issues. The airport in Gothenburg, Sweden was empty, however the airports in Stockholm and Athens were somewhat busy.

It's important to note that we were required to take a Covid 19 test at our local hospital within 48 hours of traveling, and there were random tests at the airports. It goes without saying, if you feel even slightly sick, do not travel! Remember to wear an N95 mask and to wash your hands regularly!

We had a trip booked to Greece before the outbreak of Coronvirus and could not receive a refund, so we decided to travel. We really feel bad for the airline industry and the thousands of airline workers that have lost their jobs. We will continue to travel by air when appropriate and when we can do it safely.
