Las Terrenas was founded in 1946 when then-President Rafael Leonidas Trujillo ordered the rural inhabitants of Santo Domingo to resettle in the town as farmers and fishermen. Las Terrenas was then a small fishing village isolated from the rest of the country.
Over the years the village's old fishermen's cabins have been slowly transformed into bars, restaurants, and shops.
Samana was a slave trade port for the British in the early seventeenth century. Today, inhabitants are a combination of Taino, Spanish, West Indian, and African slaves.
The name Las Terrenas originates from the French la terrine (the landlord).

Visiting the charming town of Las Galeras and its magnificent tropical beach while you travel through the Samaná Peninsula, in the Dominican Republic is a must do.
The road to this small fishing community 28 km northeast of Samaná ends at the beach. So does everything else, metaphorically speaking. One of the great pleasures of a stay here is losing all perspective on the world beyond – even the beautiful and isolated outlying beaches seem far away.
Being outside the touristic areas, this town has preserved its unique Dominican style with little houses surrounded by coconut trees. The town is bathed by the sea in a beach with some boats property of the locals. The name of the town is owned to the fact that, during the second half of the 16th century, there used to anchor two galleys send by the King of Spain to curtail illegal trade as pirates used to spend time in the town.
We stayed in at the lovely Hotel Todoblanco, which is the only hotel located on the beach of Las Galeras, the perfect getaway resort:

Rincon Beach, mentioned among the five most beautiful beaches of the world, is located in a remote part of the Dominican Republic between two well-known capes (Cabos): Cabo Cabron and Cabo Samana.
Located on the Samana Peninsula, between “Cabo Cabron” and “Cabo Samana,” this magnificent bay with white sands is one of the five most beautiful beaches in the world. A small river called “Caño Frio” passes the bay, and you may enjoy a refreshing bath in its’ cool water.

DISASTER ON THE BEACH in the Dominican Republic ???? Las Galeras Samana Tour. Playa Fronton + Rincon ????
Everyone told us that while in Las Galeras, Samana, the Dominican Republic, we have to go on a beach tour day to Playa Fronton, Playa Madame and Play Rincon by boat.

This beaches in the Dominican Republic, especially Playa Rincon is rated as one of the best beaches in the entire world.
Unfortunately things didn't go quite as planned. Our tour started about an hour late, the swells and waves getting to Playa Fronton were huge and quite scary. But we did get to see Humpback Whales (Humpback Whales are in Samana Bay from January to March each year).
At Playa Fronton we lost our drone (DJI Mavic Mini), but our tour guide ended up finding it, although it was broken so we were thankfully able to get some footage off of it. It also rained quite a bit while we were at the beach.
Because of the weather and the swells in the ocean we decided to skip Playa Madame and head straight to Playa Rincon. At Playa Rincon we had an awesome lunch and got to relax a bit.

Dominican Republic Samana 4K Drone Crashes into Hotel | Travel Droner
Samana Dominican Republic 4K Drone Flight ends in Battery Failure and Crash into the Hotel Cliff had to get a local Hotel worker to help mount the Drone Recovery mission from the cliff my respects this guy should get a job at cirque du Solei.
Today i am taking out the Autel EVO Drone for a long range flight from Luxury Bahia Principe Hotel in Samana Dominican Republic and fly to the Bacardi Island Cayo Levantado which is 1.3 miles away from the Luxury Bahia Principe Hotel in Samana Dominican Republic .
Flight Conditions
Weather was cloudy 12mph winds coming from east 90 degrees F
Decent day to fly
the battery i used was at 95% when flight started about 1 mile out over water i had an battery issue and it started draining very fast to the point i thought i lose it over water enjoy the video i included the flight logs in the screen so you can see for your self how the battery behaved during the flight.
What would you have done with those telemetry readings fly normal back to home point or deviate to emergency land?
