Dominica VERTICALS. A Virtual Journey in 4K. Part 3

This 3rd part - same as my whole DOMINICA series of leisurely videos illustrated only with music - is dedicated to all in self-isolation, having hard time coping with current global situation, overworked, perhaps with a virus infection, and all related personal matters. I hope it can give you a moment of relaxation, pleasure, and that Dominica's beautiful nature will send you some healing vibes. Lets take your mind off these difficult matters. If you are in need of a virtual holiday travel - this series may be just for you!

Dominica - the Nature Island - is among the most mountainous Caribbean islands. In its native tongue named Waitukubuli - Tall Is Her Body, it reaches impressive heights on a small footprint. Ridges, waterfalls, cliffs, canyons - covered with old tropical forest - create together an unforgettable landscape with highly dominant VERTICAL spaces, shapes and lines. This part of my video series is just about these - vertical elements of nature - waterfalls, huge old trees, cliffs - all in perfect natural harmony. Dominica's nature is breath-taking and I am in love with it.

By no means a complete set of the most beautiful spots, it is my humble attempt to bring Dominica closer to your heart. An perhaps - when hard times are over - you would decide to experience it the best way - by visiting and exploring this beautiful land.

Filmed in 4K with drones and static cameras, and using slow motion and time lapse technique to give you an immersive Dominica experience. I hope you will enjoy! All the best!

Dominica in BLOOM. A Virtual Journey in 4K. Part 4

This 4th part - same as my whole DOMINICA series of leisurely videos illustrated only with music - is dedicated to all in self-isolation, having hard time coping with current global situation, overworked, perhaps with a virus infection, and all related personal matters. I hope it can give you a moment of relaxation, pleasure, and that Dominica's beautiful nature will send you some healing vibes. Lets take your mind off these difficult matters. If you are in need of a virtual holiday travel - this series may be just for you!

Dominica - the Nature Island - is full of bloom - all year around. These are wild flowers, blooming trees and palms, and also blooming, lush tropical gardens. These are selected picks, mere highlights of the lush nature around here. This series is not as EPIC as previous part. It is more about beauty found in small things. I can't imagine this beautiful island without flowers, and this is my attempt to bring them closer to you. I also believe that many of you love tropical flowers and gardens, and will enjoy this little flick.

My wife and me are keen and experienced gardeners. Also one of books we published is about flowers, so many things around us evolve around bloom - (check on Amazon our Exotic Gardens of the Eastern Caribbean). Tropical plants are our passion, and this short clip is my attempt to share our passion with you.

Filmed in 4K with drone and static cameras, using macro and time lapse technique to give you an immersive Dominica experience. I hope you will enjoy! All the best! If you prefer wide views, high flying drone and grand scenes - see parts 1 and 3. Next part will also have more grandeur.

Dominica FOREST. A Virtual Journey in 4K. Part 5

This 5th part - same as my whole DOMINICA series of leisurely videos illustrated only with music - is dedicated to all in self-isolation, having hard time coping with current global situation, overworked, perhaps with a virus infection, and all related personal matters. I hope it can give you a moment of relaxation, pleasure, and that Dominica's beautiful nature will send you some healing vibes. Lets take your mind off these difficult matters. If you are in need of a virtual holiday travel - this series may be just for you!

Dominica - the Nature Island - is among the most mountainous Eastern Caribbean islands. It is also covered with a dense tropical forest. It results in magical nooks, picturesque rivers under the leaves, and a maze of beautiful hikes awaiting your discovery. Dominica's nature is breath-taking and I am in love with it.

Dominica endured many disasters, latest one being the infamous Hurricane Maria in 2017. The whole island and its forests were shattered. And yet - nature bounces back quickly, and this is shown in this episode. Now, some 3 years later you would not even think it happened if you didn't know. Nature's power to come back after each and every catastrophe should be also our source of hope that our most current global situation will get sorted out in a natural way too...

Actually, quite a bit of drone flying through tight spaces - I love filming like that. I hope you will enjoy! All the best!

Dominica on the Move 3 | 4K Timelapse Film

I've been working on this timelapse film for several months now, and Dominica on the Move 3 is finally ready for release!

I sought to create something different from my previous timelapse projects. It needed to do more than just show off Dominica's natural beauty; I also wanted to incorporate the human element, to showcase life on the island.

Dominica is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and I'm happy to release this film. I am already excited about making another one to incorporate features and locations absent from this one, but in the meantime, please enjoy Dominica on the Move 3.

The film itself is actually just 4 minutes long, but you'll see that this video runs for 6 minutes. That's because I've added lots of behind-the-scenes and unused footage at the end, to show a bit of the process involved.

For more information, gear, outtakes and fun facts, please check out my blog post at:

Special thanks to Don Carli for allowing me to use his song Waitukubuli in this project. Here's a link to watch his lyric video:

Dominica - SKIES. Time lapse journey in 4K

The ever changing, often dramatic sky over Dominica is fascinating. I film it regularly, creating time-lapse clips, and have quite a collection of it - offered as stock footage. This hurricane season we had specially interesting skies, and I decided to make a short compilation for you.

It may be a less typical footage from our Nature Island, but I hope you will find it worth seeing.
I dedicate this short film - same as my previous Dominica flicks - to all who are stressed out, tired, under lock-down, and other-ways affected by the global pandemic. I do hope this can give you a few moments of relax - and who knows - maybe it will make you visit Dominica (which is almost covid-free) in a not so distant future?

I am happy to share with you a fruit of work I love. If you like it, Subscribe, and share with friends, please. Lets spread some good vibes and nice moments with others.

Dominica - Three Years After Hurricane Maria. Journey in 4K

Today, on 18th of September 2020, on third anniversary of Hurricane Maria striking Dominica, I share with you this video, full of footage never seen before. Lots of this footage is my personal, showing damage to our home at the time, and of us salvaging our stuff, and cutting a path through fallen forest to our neighbours. Well, it is time to share it all.

I noticed, that busy with everyday life, we tend to forget noticing how far we progressed through just three short years. I do hope this video will show it to you, and - if you watch from abroad and did not experience this hurricane - it will also give you a better idea what we all went through.

Lots of it is filmed in 4K, but some shots are shaky, from a small hand-held camera. I hope it is ok, as it adds authentic feel to it, and not always I had a chance to film well at these moments.

If you like it - please SHARE it with friends, and SUBSCRIBE for more videos. Such important moments in life deserve being seen and shared, I believe.
Thank you for watching, I hope I won't have a chance of filming anything like that again. Still - I am ready, if so.

(Video received an award at Tagore International Film Festival 2020 in India, and is shortlisted for Southampton Short Film Week 2020 in UK).

Dominica At Night - exploration in 4K

Another short film from my series showing Dominica Nature, this time mostly at night or sunset. Animals that are more active at night, flowers that open after sunset, and the nature and landscape we see mostly during day time.

Same as my whole DOMINICA series of leisurely videos illustrated only with music - is dedicated to all in self-isolation, having hard time coping with current global situation, overworked, stressed due to all related personal matters. I hope it can give you a moment of relaxation, pleasure, and that Dominica's beautiful nature will send you some healing vibes. Lets take your mind off these difficult matters. If you are in need of a virtual holiday travel - this series may be just for you! (Check previous one in my channel!)

Dominica - the Nature Island - is among the most mountainous Eastern Caribbean islands. It is covered with a dense tropical forest, resulting in magical nooks, picturesque rivers under the leaves, and a maze of beautiful hikes awaiting your discovery. Dominica's nature is breath-taking and I love photographing and filming it.

Using different cameras, drones, and time lapse technique, I tried to make an enjoyable experience for you. Thank you for stopping by. If you like it - share and subscribe, not to miss next ones!

Dominica Drone Flight: Dominica is a mountainous Caribbean island nation with natural hot springs and tropical rainforests. Morne Trois Pitons National Park is home to the volcanically heated, steam-covered Boiling Lake. The park also encompasses sulphur vents, the 65m-tall Trafalgar Falls and narrow Titou Gorge. To the west is Dominicas capital, Roseau, with colorful timber houses and botanic gardens. Down the coast is Champagne Reef, a snorkeling destination where gas bubbles emerge from the shallow sea floor. Nearby is Soufriere village, in a volcanic crater bay with hot springs on its pebbly beach and coral-covered underwater cliffs offshore. Inland is Wotten Waven, a mountain village with thermal baths among tree ferns. Cabrits National Park, in the north, is home to Fort Shirley, once manned by 18th-century British colonialists. The fort marks the end of the Waitukubuli National Trail, a long-distance hike spanning the length of Dominica. [Source: Google]

Dominica (/dəˈmɪˌnɪkə/ or /ˌdɒmɪˈniːkə/; French: Dominique; Island Carib: Wai‘tu kubuli), officially the Commonwealth of Dominica, is a sovereign island country.[8] The capital, Roseau, is located on the leeward side of the island. It is part of the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. The island lies south-southeast of Guadeloupe and northwest of Martinique. Its area is 750 km2 (290 sq mi), and the highest point is Morne Diablotins, at 1,447 m (4,747 ft) in elevation. The population was 71,293 at the 2011 census.

The island was originally inhabited by the Kalinago and later colonised by Europeans, predominantly by the French from the 1690s to 1763. Columbus is said to have passed the island on Sunday, 3 November 1493, and the island's name is derived from the Latin for Sunday. Great Britain took possession in 1763 after its defeat of France in the Seven Years' War, and it gradually established English as the official language. The island republic gained independence in 1978.

Its name is pronounced with stress falling either on second syllable of the word, after the Latin word dŏmĭnĭcă lordly, or on the third syllable, after the French name Dominique. Dominica has been nicknamed the Nature Isle of the Caribbean for its natural environment.[9] It is the youngest island in the Lesser Antilles, still being formed by geothermal-volcanic activity, as evidenced by the world's second-largest hot spring, called Boiling Lake. The island has lush mountainous rainforests, and is the home of many rare plants, animals, and bird species. There are xeric areas in some of the western coastal regions, but heavy rainfall occurs inland. The Sisserou parrot, also known as the imperial amazon and found only on Dominica, is the island's national bird and featured on the national flag. Dominica's economy depends on tourism and agriculture.

Dominica is mostly volcanic and has few beaches; therefore, tourism has developed more slowly than on neighboring islands. Nevertheless, Dominica's mountains, rainforests, freshwater lakes, hot springs, waterfalls, and diving spots make it an attractive ecotourism destination. Cruise ship stopovers have increased following the development of modern docking and waterfront facilities in Roseau, the capital. Out of 22 Caribbean islands tracked, Dominica had the fewest visitors in 2008 (55,800 or 0.3% of the total). This was about half as many as visited Haiti. The volcanic nature of the island has attracted scuba divers.

Dominica has two major newspapers, The Sun and The Chronicle. There are two national television stations and a few radio stations, ZBC-AM 590, En Ba Mango 93.5/96.9FM, ZGBC-AM 740, ZGBC-FM 90.7 (Portsmouth), ZGBC-FM 102.1 (Roseau) and ZGBC-FM 106.1 (Marigot), Q95 FM, the Dominica Broadcasting Corporation, LIME and Digicel compete for most of Dominica's wireless customers.

Trafalgar Falls in 4K, Dominica 2021

The famous twin falls in Dominica, Eastern Caribbean, are always popular with visitors. I decided to revisit this beautiful spot to show progress of our nature and give you a few moments of pleasure.

Same as my previous Dominica Nature videos, this clip is created for all of us who are tired of uncertainties, stressed with the current virus situation, with restricted movements, and so on. It is illustrated only with music, since music knows no borders.

This virtual tour hopefully will take your mind off these difficult problems, creating a mini-holidays for your mind. I do hope you will enjoy, and hopefully - if you live in another region of the world - that you will decide to visit Dominica one day. Nothing beats the real experience! All the best, stay well!

Dominica - Diving Witchs point (Part 2) with DiveDominica

Diving Witchs point (Part 2) in Dominica, Soufrière national marine park (With DiveDominica)
All of the diving on Dominica takes place within one of three Marine Reserves: The Cabrits National Park Marine Section in the north, the Salisbury Marine Reserve in Dominica's central west, and the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve, the oldest Reserve on the island, located in the south west of the island. As it is just a short boat trip from Dive Dominica, most of the diving takes place in and around the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve.
Not surprisingly, the topography of our dive sites mirrors that of our diverse landscape above. High mountain peaks above create dramatic drop offs, walls and canyons below. Mountain passages become swim throughs and caverns. There are massive boulder fields and volcanic craters underwater just as there is above water. Pinnacles rise up everywhere. We even have active underwater fumaroles.

Boeri Like, Dominica

A nice hike to the highest lake in Dominica located in an old volcano crater.
A fine experience, which can be combined with a hike around Freshwater Lake. Dominica's nature at its best. As on many other such videos, I am together with my friend Nahjie - a legendary adventure guide from Dominica ( see more about him JustGoDominica.com). Another fantastic day in wilderness. Filmed with ground camera and drone in 4K to give you an immersive experience.

I post these new videos specially for those in lock-out and stressed-out, having hard time coping with today's virus problems. I hope this will give you a moment of relaxation and pleasure in these hectic and difficult times. Stay safe! All the best! Greetings from the Caribbean!
