Another short film from my series showing Dominica Nature, this time mostly at night or sunset. Animals that are more active at night, flowers that open after sunset, and the nature and landscape we see mostly during day time.

Dominica - the Nature Island - is among the most mountainous Eastern Caribbean islands. It is covered with a dense tropical forest, resulting in magical nooks, picturesque rivers under the leaves, and a maze of beautiful hikes awaiting your discovery. Dominica's nature is breath-taking and I love photographing and filming it.

Dominica 4K UHD HDR
The Dominican Republic has much in common with the countries of Latin America (with which it is often grouped), and some writers have referred to the country as a microcosm of that region. Dominicans have experienced political and civil disorder, ethnic tensions, export-oriented booms and busts, and long periods of military rule, including a Haitian occupation (1822–44), the oppressive dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo (1930–61), and military interventions by the United States (1916–24 and 1965–66). However, the nation’s troubles have paled in comparison with those of neighbouring Haiti. The two countries have long been strategic because of their proximity to the United States and their positions on major sea routes leading to the Caribbean and the Panama Canal.

This short movie shows my personal favourites filmed during my countless hikes. Dominica - one of islands in the Eastern Caribbean archipelago, itendured many disasters, latest one being the infamous Hurricane Maria in 2017. The whole island and its forests were shattered. And yet - nature bounces back quickly, and this is shown in this video. Nature's power to come back after each and every catastrophe should be also our source of hope that our most current global situation will get sorted out in a natural way too...
By no means a complete set of the most beautiful Dominica spots, it is my humble attempt to bring Dominica closer to your heart. An perhaps - when hard times are over - you would decide to experience it the best way - by visiting and exploring this beautiful land. Dominica - Three Years After Hurricane Maria. Journey in 4K
Today, on 18th of September 2020, on third anniversary of Hurricane Maria striking Dominica, I share with you this video, full of footage never seen before. Lots of this footage is my personal, showing damage to our home at the time, and of us salvaging our stuff, and cutting a path through fallen forest to our neighbours. Well, it is time to share it all.
I noticed, that busy with everyday life, we tend to forget noticing how far we progressed through just three short years. I do hope this video will show it to you, and - if you watch from abroad and did not experience this hurricane - it will also give you a better idea what we all went through.
Lots of it is filmed in 4K, but some shots are shaky, from a small hand-held camera. I hope it is ok, as it adds authentic feel to it, and not always I had a chance to film well at these moments.

Escalier Tete Chien, Dominica 2021. A Journey in 4K.
Unusual geological formation on East coast of Dominica, within the Carib Territory. It looks like a long set of stairs going far and deep into the ocean, and a legend tells a story of a serpent entering there.
An easy walk from main road, it surely is among the most unusual places one can visit in Dominica.
Filmed in 4K in March 2021. I do hope you will enjoy my another contribution to show you the beauty of the Nature Island i love. As all videos I created recently, this one is made in hope it will cheer up all those tired of lock-downs, difficulties, and other hardships created by the pandemic. All the best!
Untouched Caribbean Island. Can't Believe This Exists ???? Explore Dominica in the Caribbean ????????
In this video we spend a few days exploring the untouched and not overly well known Caribbean island of Dominica! Dominica is known as the nature island, with lots of waterfalls and rivers (365, one for every day of the year!).
We start things off with a quick tour of our hotel, where we are staying in the penthouse. This hotel is an adventure hotel and a great place to stay if you’re looking to plan lots of fun adventures around the island during your stay. You can find more about it here:
After setting off from the hotel to explore the island, and getting over a bit of motion sickness (the roads are very windy and even those that aren’t use to motion sickness can be affected, some prepared), we stop at the Emerald Pool. It’s about a 10 minute easy hike to get there and once you arrive you’ll encounter a lovely waterfall where you can also swim. This is definitely the place where we encountered more tourists than anywhere else!
Next up we had the most beautiful canoe ride through Indian River (a scene from Pirate’s of the Caribbean was filmed here), where we encountered loads of different types of birds, crabs and wildlife. Unfortunately it got dark very quickly and we had to stop filming.
We picked things up the next day at Morne Bruce where we had a great view overlooking the main city in Dominica, Roseau. We also make a stop at the botanical gardens to see a bus that was flattened by a tree many years ago in a hurricane and is now referred to as David and Goliath. We then spend a little bit of time exploring Roseau.
Later we make our way to a lake high up in the mountains, called Freshwater Lake where we fly the drone to get a better view.
Lastly we head to Trafalgar water falls to view the two side by side waterfalls affectionally known and mama and papa.

Dominica is a mountainous Caribbean island nation with natural hot springs and tropical rainforests. Morne Trois Pitons National Park is home to the volcanically heated, steam-covered Boiling Lake. The park also encompasses sulphur vents, the 65m-tall Trafalgar Falls and narrow Titou Gorge. To the west is Dominica’s capital, Roseau, with colorful timber houses and botanic gardens.
