Saint Martin (French: Saint-Martin; Dutch: Sint Maarten) is an island in the northeast Caribbean Sea, approximately 300 km (190 mi) east of Puerto Rico. The 87 square kilometres (34 sq mi) island is divided roughly 60:40 between the French Republic (53 square kilometres (20 sq mi)) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands (34 square kilometres (13 sq mi)), but the Dutch part is more populated than the French part. The division dates to 1648. The northern French part comprises the Collectivity of Saint Martin and is an overseas collectivity of the French Republic. As part of France, the French part of the island is also part of the European Union. The southern Dutch part comprises Sint Maarten and is one of four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The Netherlands Antilles was a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The country consisted of several island territories located in the Caribbean Sea. The islands were also informally known as the Dutch Antilles.

The tour stopped at multiple places around St. Maarten, including Philipsburg, Oyster Bay, Orient Beach, Grand Case, Marigot, and the world-famous Maho Beach. Maho Beach is known for its location at the end of an airport runway, with the airplanes coming in just overhead. St. Maarten is the smallest landmass shared by two different countries, with one-half of the country (St. Maarten) being Dutch and the other half (St. Martin) being French.

Phillipsburg, St Maarten - Exploring the City and Relaxing by the Beach ????????
If you're looking for good food, friendly people and a laid back Caribbean vibe, Philipsburg in St Maarten might be the ideal spot for you! ????
Philipsburg on the island of St Maarten was our embarkation port for our Caribbean cruise aboard the MSC Seaview. Lots of cruise lines other than @msccruises stop in St Maarten.
Philipsburg is the main port and capital of Sint Maarten, the Dutch side of the island of Saint Martin. The island is split into Dutch and French sides with Marigot the capital of French Saint Martin. You can easily cross the border between both sides of the island without any hassle.
The cruise ship terminal is just a short walk to the centre of Philipsburg. There's lots of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. There's a boardwalk along the popular Great Bay Beach. There's 2 main streets - Front Street and Back Street.
Dollars and Euro are both widely accepted in St Maarten. This is the same for Marigot and the French side of Saint Martin.
Philipsburg is a small enough town so there's not a great deal to see by way of sightseeing. It's a nice city for a ramble though.
One of our highlights was visiting Maho Beach near Princess Juliana Airport. It's gained a reputation as one of the world's most extreme airports. It's a great place to see planes taking off and landing as everything from small prop planes to large jets fly low over the beach to land. The jet blast as they take off has led to the phenomenon known as fence surfing. It was a really great experience which I'd highly recommend. You can sit and watch the planes landing from the Sunset Bar and Grill on Maho Beach.
We did a cruise excursion with took us to Marigot on the French side of Saint Martin and then to Maho and it left straight from the cruise port so was really handy. There's taxis at the port though which will take you where you want to go for a reasonable price.
We really enjoyed visiting Philipsburg and St Maarten. Maho was certainly a highlight but if all you want to do is ramble around the shops, lie on the beach or grab a bite to eat, then Philipsburg is a great cruise port for you ????️

We Visited Pinel Island - St.Maarten's Best - Kept Secret
Hello guys, greetings from Pinel Island!
Pinel Island is only ten minutes from St. Maarten and is known as the place where locals go. Pinel Island is a preserved area and is a very popular snorkeling, kayak, and hiking spot. Later on, we will explore the island and visit the only three facilities on the island: two restaurants and a gift shop. Also, you can walk around the island to see amazing wildlife, nature, and a couple of other beaches, but because of coral reefs and rough waters, swimming is almost impossible.
