One of my favorite meditation practices is writing a note to my younger self. It has always allowed me to gain some perspective on the growth I've made, as well as dramatically reducing any anxiety I might be feeling. I spent the night in Joshua Tree and just wasn't feeling like vlogging, so I wrote a note to myself and just filmed this beautiful landscape.

I finally make my return to Colorado after 5 months on the road. Going from the beach in LA to the crisp fall weather in Colorado was the best welcome home I could ever imagine. Self Doubt in the Creative Process
The creative process always seems to follow the same arch for me: excitement for the idea, massive self-doubt and criticism, satisfaction with the end result. I've been on the road outside of Colorado for over a month now filming my upcoming project Redefining Success. I'm so excited to start putting together all of this footage, but the self-doubt and daunting task of editing are definitely taking their toll.

I let PERFECTION get in the way of GOOD ENOUGH
The vlog is back! I realized I started putting too much pressure on myself for my videos to be perfect before posting them. This only lead to me not posting as much, and not having as much fun editing videos. So I'm calling this the start of Season 2 of the vlog, and getting back to posting regularly, even if they're not perfect!

I met up with the guys from Lucid Cause, and we had some great conversation about the struggles of creating artwork for social media platforms that are so driven by numerical metrics and algorithms. It's easier said than done, but: forget about the metrics!! Be kind to yourself and have fun making things.

It's like I was hanging in a river, holding onto this branch with white knuckles for years. And I'm holding on, I have to hold onto this branch, or my life is over. I've been holding on for so long and I've lost feeling in them now, and I see my fingers slipping. And I'm like, 'What if the river is good?'
This quote from the Liturgists podcast was one of the most impactful analogies I had ever heard. I felt the exact same, that so much of my life was lived holding on so tight to what I thought I knew, what seemed safe. This year I think I finally let go of that branch.
