Diamond Production in Lunda Norte - Made In Angola Film
The Eduardo dos Santos Foundation (FESA) officially presented a documentary film entitled Made in Angola on July 8th 2009.
Made In Angola showcases the remarkable recovery this virtually unknown African nation has made over the past several years.
Viewers will be mesmerized by Angola's breathtaking natural beauty as they encounter untouched beaches, virgin tropical rain-forests, vast deserts, endless savannah and magnificent waterfalls. Beyond the stunning natural beauty, viewers will also be intrigued by Angola's spectacular economic growth, its commitment to reconstruction and development and its rich cultural heritage.
The documentary, co-produced by Mundis Production and New Atlantis, was filmed in the provinces of Luanda, Kwanza Sul, Huila, Cabinda, Bengo, Huambo, Namibe, Zaire, Malanje and Lunda Norte.
Farming: a cornerstone of Angola's economic diversification - focus
In the Seventies, Angola was one of Africa's leading farming nations. But years of civil war took its toll: on the sector which only represents 10% of the country's GDP today.
Since the end of conflict fifteen years ago, a major effort has been made to boost agriculture - a vital necessity when you consider that Angola needs to import 80% of its consumer goods.

Highlights of AMC 2019
The 1st Angola Mining Conference and Exhibition (AMC 2019) took place on November 20-21, at the Talatona Convention Center - CCTA- in Luanda
The President of the Republic of Angola, H.E João Lourenço, launched the ceremony. His Excellency reminded the audience that the mining sector is of capital importance to the country and asked companies that signed mining investment contracts to comply with the agreements in order to enhance the development of the sector in Angola.
The president also urged them to responsibly respect the laws of the environment and surrounding communities.
H.E Diamantino Azevedo, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum stated that the Government intends to increase the number of mining companies in the country and has invited national and international mining agents to invest in Angola.
The ceremony carried on with the signing key investment agreements with large international mining companies:
• Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Sodiam E.P. and Blue Glacier on Saurimo Diamond Cutting Factory Investment Agreement.
• Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Sodiam E.P., and partnership with Endiama E.P. and Coremetal on Saurimo Diamond Cutting Factory Investment Contract.
• Signature of the Agreement between Endiama E.P. and Alrosa on Diamond Prospecting.
• Signature of Mining Investment Agreement of MIREMPET with AngloAmerican.
• Signed agreement for Turkey’s Tosyali Group to develop the Kassinga Mining and Steel project.
The ceremony also included the presentation of Saurimo Diamond Development Project Model.
His Excellency João Lourenço, along with the H.E Diamantino Azevedo revealed the maquette and opened the exhibition by visiting all the 45 exhibition stands.
In the Afternoon, AMC 2019 covered the topics of “Investment in the Angolan Mining Sectors - New Projects” which saw Jorge Moreira, Manager – Transaction Advisory Services, EY, moderate the panel of speakers present the new projects and players in Angola’s Mining Sector. This was followed by the second session concerning Angolan Diamonds which included in depth presentations and a Q&A session with delegates. The day ended with presentations and case studies relating to Angola’s geological and mining potential with the participation of key decision makers from sponsoring companies and key stakeholders.
The first day of the event saw 600 participants gathered to start the sessions surrounding the future of the Angolan mining sector. The inaugural Angolan Mining Conference was organized by AME Trade Ltd, United Kingdom with the collaboration of MIREMPET.

The National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels of Angola – in the presence of H.E. Diamantino Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, and José Barroso, Secretary of State for Oil and Gas – held a ceremony to open the proposals received for its latest bid round for offshore blocks in the Lower Congo and Kwanza offshore basins on Tuesday April 5, 2022, in Luanda. This was an invitation-only tender and the round of offshore blocks piqued the interest of several global oil majors, with three companies submitting bids for two of the blocks in the Lower Congo Basin.
